When I was in town my sister asked me if I wanted to work out with her... I didn't, but sometimes I'm a good person, so I went anyway.
We went on a weekday around 9:30 and there were only a few other people in the gym at the time. Everyone there knew what they were doing and clearly love going there.
My sister got started right away, while I filled out the forms and talked to Mike, who was the one working at the time. I told him about my usual workouts and I made sure he knew I was pregnant so everything would be okay for me to do and I got started.
Just like their name states, there are 9 rounds of exercises you do in order to finish your workout. They are a good mix of cardio, upper body, lower body, and while body. They are all timed and then you move on to the next round. They are timed by a light and when the light is green, you go. When it is yellow, your time at the station is almost up so you need to really push and give it your all, then the light is red and you can get a drink of water and move to the next station. By the way, did you know it is really hard to try to pick up a water bottle when you have gloves on her hands? I switched to the drinking fountain. As you move forward, the trainer there will tell you what to do at the next station and help you out along the way. One thing I loved was that Mike clearly knew everyone in there and what they were capable of and how to push them. Everyone who was there was drenched with sweat and glowing with accomplishment.
Once you have completed all 9 rounds you can do the bonus workout on the white board and you are done. It takes about 30 minutes to complete and if you take it seriously, it will kick your butt. I didn't take it too seriously because I already wanted to vomit all the time and TMI- first trimester boobs hurt! I did not want to jump around or do anything that may move my boobs. Mike figured that out when my first round was jump roping and it was the most lackluster jumping anyone has probably ever seen. I did finish every single round and the bonus round with my sister and yes, I did break a sweat, but I wasn't dying. My sister sure was though.
My favorite thing about the entire time we were there? We brought our five year old niece with us and about half way through our workout Mike gloved her up and did a special workout with her, so basically she was like the coolest 5 year old the world has ever seen.
Overall, it was a great experience. When I'm not pregnant and trying to be in shape I'd come back with my sister as a guest to do another work out and I'd probably take it more seriously and get my butt kicked. This is truly a great place to come if you are short on time and want a whole body workout because in about 30 minutes, you'll get it. I highly suggest checking it out. read more
