David (refused to give me his last name), assistant manager at the Eagle Idaho location was so completely rude and pretended to call 911 when I wouldn't leave, after asking for a months credit. I was trying to cancel my college son's membership after 2 months of being charged. My son hasn't been in the state for 2 months. Worst customer service ever!! Wifi not working and staff can't fix it. The wifi has been broke for 3 months and the staff says that their hands are tied and can't take care of the problem. I have been doing some research on gyms in the area and saw that Crunch in Eagle was the most convenient for my location, but had some unpleasant reviews. I was hesitant but still decided to go check it out. I have to say that this place went ABOVE AND BEYOND for me getting my membership started. I signed up online but there was something wrong with my payment so I had to speak with a manager. David was phenomenal at addressing my questions, concerns, and settled my doubts with Crunch. Not to mention, he even took the time out of his day to call me later in the evening to offer me a better membership based on a promotion that was essentially the same price!! (Who does that?! Super nice move!) David was very patient, friendly, kind, efficient, and informative. You can definitely tell the staff is putting in some work to make their customer service better! The only redeemable trait of crunch is their friendly staff. Having moved over from another state I can compare and contrast from what a fantastic crunch fitness is to whatever you want to call this. Their computer system is outdated. The gym equipment is disgusting and not maintained. Roof leaks. The restrooms reek and I am pretty sure they don't have janitors or maintenance. No one walks around and tidys up (even though we as the customers should be held responsible it's still nice). The placement of all equipment is poor and the selection of equipment besides being old and barely functional is not even ideal. Honestly dangerous. Wires fraying and numbers coming off weights and bench's that wobble and treadmills that shut down mid run. This goes for eagle and every crunch in the valley. It's a shame it's franchised because it's clear obvious the owner is sucking the profit right up and not reinvesting it. I am patiently waiting for the next competitor to pop up because that might actually make the owners and upper management do something productive. like I said, Ive been to other crunches outside of this guys franchise and this is honestly so wrong. read more

I really enjoy the fact that there are not a lot of people here. The new Crossfit area is awesome! However, the free weights and machines upstairs are a bit old and are falling apart. The locker rooms definitely need some tlc but if you want to avoid the meat market at Axiom and endless people tapping you on the shoulder wanting to tap in, then Crunch will do. read more

I decided to join crunch after going there as a guest with my boyfriend. They gave me a "promotional" deal since I was referred by my BF. It ended up not really being a deal and they charged me more than what they charge for the PEAK plan. It's very unfortunate that they do this to their loyal members. I am considering going to eagle ultimate fitness. I had joined crunch because it's bigger and more equipment available. Although my favorite machine is the stair climber, and yet out of all 3 machines only one has worked for almost the last 6 months. read more

Solid facility. This is the best location in the valley and much busier than nearby State street. It has all the amenities that you are looking for in a large format gym. Pool, indoor track, basketball court - all there. It can be very crowded depending on the time of the day. If I go around 8 am or 6 pm I feel crowded. Staff is always friendly. read more

Underage Fraud. During Spring Break 2022, three teenagers walked into Eagle Crunch and requested one day passes. Preston Elliott (the District Manager) took them into an office and provided membership deals to the boys. None of the boys wanted memberships and felt pressured by Preston. During his sales presentation, Preston did not ask for their ages or ID. Preston signed all three boys on the Month to Month membership using my son's debit card for the monthly billing for all three boys. In early May, three charges for $21.99 hit my bank account. I called and spoke to Tristan (manager) and he cancelled my son's membership but could not cancel the other two boys, even though I provided their full names. In early June, we had two more charges for $21.99 go through the bank account. The following day, two more charges for $53.99 each went through for annual dues. After one visit to the gym and MANY phone calls--I was denied a refund for the membership dues or the annual fees. My complaint is that Crunch allows MINORS to enter into legal contracts and Preston Elliott committed FRAUD by entering birthdates for all three boys as: October 11, 1995. (Real ages: 16 years). Crunch has informed me an email was sent to their staff to stop signing up minors. I would like to mention in the terms of their contract, it states you must have parental permission to sign any member under the age of 18 years. I am concerned this practice will continue. read more

This was meant for the caldwell crunch facility. I have never been in the Eagle building Caldwell; The overall appearance of the facility is improving. That part is good. But the women's locker/dressing room has some issues. No one has cleaned the dressing rooms in months.the corners in the little rooms are full of enough wadded up hair and fuzz to build a rats nest. And these have been there for months. The skinny little pieces of shower curtains are mildewed. They are vinyl so could be washed in machine. But that doesn't get done either. And then there are the hair nests that gather on the shower grains and in the corner of the shower. We've mentioned these things to the front staff but nothin g has been fixed. Too bad because this is a nice facility. read more

Would anyone like to start a class action lawsuit against this gym? I bet Nicole W. would. This gym is practicing some of the most unethical business practices that I have ever seen. Here is why I am upset and writing this review. I open my new month to month account with this gym for my wife and myself. $75x2 activation fee and $35x2 membership fee for the first month, $210 to sign up, I am ok with that. Then two months into our memberships my wife and I get charged a $51 yearly membership (the employee I spoke with today said that this fee shouldn't be charged until after a year), which would make the most sense. How is a gym going to charge you a yearly fee two months into a membership? So lets see...This $102 plus my monthly $35x2 = $174+$210 to sign up...So that about $380 for two months worth of a membership! Since I was unaware of this yearly membership fee and I was furious. I immediately went in to cancel my membership with this ponzi scheme of a gym. I spoke with a manager and he could see my frustration. I told him that I wanted to cancel my membership and he said ok. He told me both my wife and my memberships were cancelled and that I would receive no further charges. Today, a month later I was looking at my bank statement and whoops Crunch charged me again for my towel fee, $5 and my membership fee of $35. When I looked at my bank statement a little more closely I realized that I was charged a $56 cancellation fee 2 days after I cancelled our accounts, even tho our memberships were month to month and there is no cancellation fee! When I went in today, Saturday the 25th of August to speak with someone about these charges there were no managers to help me. The young kid at the front desk was polite and helped me look up my wife and my account info. This is where he showed me that her account was cancelled and charged a cancellation fee, even tho the account read month to month. Then he showed me my account that the manager failed to cancel which I am still being charged for. So a summary of my review is that for a two month membership, my wife and I went maybe five times each, we were charged roughly $460! This is out right theft. If I do not get my money back for my account that this gym failed to cancel I will contact the BBB, I will write a poor review on every platform that I possibly can, and I might even get a hold of others who have been wronged and start a class action lawsuit against this gym. I hope this helps steer people away from signing up here, please take your money somewhere else. All the positive reviews are from people out of town. All of the 1 and 2 star reviews are from people who live here. If you look at analytics this gym has been going down the drain for the last 5 months now. I completely agree with Alex M regarding the lap pool. The water is WAY too warm--and potentially dangerous--for lap swimming. There are 3 pools in this facility, and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the lap pool to be maintained at a safe and comfortable temperature for lap swimming. This is in an pool room that is already hot and very humid. It feels like a hot tub inside of a steam room. Uncomfortable for recreational use and downright miserable for lap swimming. The staff all say they agree the lap pool is too hot and they've gotten a ton of complaints about it, but management refuses to take any action to address it. read more

Sitting in the parking lot 30 minutes after "open" waiting on someone to show up and open doors. No gym etiquette with members and majority don't put weights away or clean machines after. Cleaning machines would also be easier if staff actually filled the wipes regularly. Machines are a mix of new and old enough to be a hazard. Staff knows and does nothing. About 1/3 of the time there is no staff at the front desk so you can just walk in. Worst gym I have been to. read more

I joined this gym specifically for the water aerobics, as I could no longer do regular aerobics. The classes were alot of fun and well attended. When Covid hit they stopped the classes. They re-opened the gym after a couple months, but didn't restart water aerobics until this month and not at the Eagle location. They are now canceling all water aerobics at all of the area locations, for what sounds like permanently. They really don't appear to care about helping people that are older and have joint issues that do better with this class. I kept going to this gym even though the bathrooms/changing rooms were dirty and smelly because I loved doing water aerobics. You can never get a straight answer out of their management regarding why they are stopping water aerobics (money, not the Crunch branding, you name it). I quit this gym when they finally admitted they wouldn't be restarting water aerobics. Of course this was after they strung us along for a year+ with 'the classes will be restarting in a month or so'. If I could give them a -5 I would. Oh, almost forgot to mention the dead mouse in the kiddies pool. The staff didn't even check the pool in the mornings to make sure all was well. read more

Definitely the best of the crunch fitness locations. You feel like you're in hollywood haha. The front desk staff is awesome. It can get a little crowded during the retirement time slots but overall it's a great gym. In a way, I wish the meridian location would stay under construction longer so I had a good excuse to drive to this one every day. The only complaint is that changes take forever. The dry sauna was out of commission for a while, but no one was ever working on it. They just shut it down. Pool is too warm for swimming laps. You feel like you're in a hot tub. Front desk keeps it friendly and makes you feel at home. read more

Dispute and we will take your account active and start billing you again. Hell I still haven't received confirmation that my accounts been canceled. Locker room/shower are dirty. Pool temp is WAY to warm to swim laps. Caters to kid swim lessons. Complaining about it does no good ... "corporate policy"... yada yada yada, "will look into it"..... Several friends have cancelled membership, now my turn. Don't recommend. read more

Updated 11/19/19: Members using ABCFinancial for their monthly credit card charges for club membership, check your statements. I have been a member for more than 10 years and always return the club's towels. This month my statement had an additional $5. charge. When I inquired at the desk I was told it was a lost towel fee that will NOT be removed. Your choices: (1) bring your own towel and avoid the towel cabinet, (2) create a form and have a staff member watch you return the towel and sign that date. This whole situation really makes me angry. Two weeks ago, a staff member asked me to allow another club member take a towel on my card since his card will not open the cabinet. I told him NO, I did not want to be charged for that member's towel. read more

I have been going to this gym for since 2009, and it was mediocre then but it has gotten much worse since Crunch took over. Crunch Fitness is a corporate gym chain from California, and cares absolutely ZERO percent about its Idaho clubs. This is obvious from the lack of hiring cleaners, daycare staff, etc., and/or the fact that they pay them $7.10/hour. David Cruz was a good manager who did the best he could with the poor material he had to work with, but the current manager is approximately 20 years old with no sense or experience. Just in the last few months: -2 of 3 stairclimbers were broken from March to mid August. That's right - FIVE MONTHS they were left broken, and no one cared. Lots of lies from management about when they would be fixed though. -I pay for childcare. I have paid for childcare for 8 years. I use it 5-6x a week. I have never. ever. ever. shown up and had no childcare without notice, until the current manager. Not only has this happened regularly under Braden's watch, but we are currently going on THREE WEEKS of no daycare. They are unable to hire anyone because they will not let moms who work there bring their kids, and they only pay $7.10/hour. Who, exactly, is going to take a $7/hour job for maybe 10 hours of work a week with no perks? So I continue to be billed for childcare, I can't use the gym because, you know, I have children at the times I am available to go, and the manager has told me at least 5 times over the course of the last 6 months that "this is unacceptable and it will not happen again." Yet here we are, 3 weeks and counting of no service that Crunch manages to still bill me for. The worst part is the group of front desk employees that can't be bothered to acknowledge people as they walk in, or get up to open the broken towel dispenser, or clean anything, and they sit there on their phones all morning...but somehow none of them are capable of filling in at the daycare so that members could receive services they're paying for. -The cleanliness has improved slightly but it still well below other comparable gyms. It's actually kind of disgusting but after a few years of this I've just learned to block it out and accept it like a Stockholm syndrome type of thing. Honestly, the hairballs and toilet paper all over the floor and non-working fans and electrical outlets that spark during class are the least of my problems. I question my judgment as to why I haven't quit yet. I still have a tiny shred of hope that the daycare situation will get fixed, and/or Braden will quit/get fired and the new manager will have more sense. David never had daycare employees just not show up. Hmmmm... I would recommend any other gym in the area over this one, especially if you don't have constraints that require you to be in the immediate Eagle area (while I have resigned myself to probably joining the Y or Axiom, due to preschool and kindergarten dropoff/pickup they will be much less convenient.) I just really don't know what else I can say. I am hopeful that someone of consequence will read this and make changes...like just having daycare for crying out loud. I have had two friends in the last week ask about joining Crunch and I have sent them elsewhere, mostly due to the highly unreliable daycare. Eagle is a small town. Eventually, someone else will build a (nicer) gym and Crunch will be left to deal with their awful reputation and lack of clients. Edit: Braden contacted me and we spoke for a little while at the gym. I actually really respect the fact that he was willing to do that. He clarified that it's Crunch's policy that staff can't do double duty (which is why the FD people will never help in the daycare) which was very frustrating. He also reiterated he was doing the best he could under the constraints Crunch sets. I appreciate he took the time to talk to me. I suspect what needs to happen is that Crunch needs to sell off the Idaho gyms, because they have no interest in running them the way the current demographic needs them to run. We are not a California metro area. This is rural-ish Idaho with families and old people and we need functional daycare and functional pool for the old people to do water aerobics. read more

The most basic maintenance seems to be beyond this place. I take class four times a week in a room where the fans haven't been working in 6 months despite multiple requests for assistance. I wouldn't be there anymore if it wasn't for the instructor. read more

This gym is always Fresh and clean. The staff are amazing. Marc is always upbeat and personable. Tosha is the best person for an account issue I have had in the past. Robert the Fitness Manager is very knowledgeable with Supplementation. The General Manager Bradyn is by far one of the best Managers I have seen. He understands and listens to everything you might need help with and always showing more as well too. Thank you staff for treating me like family and helping me be healthier for my family and importantly myself. I've been a member for about one year and usually go to the Eagle location. Since the monthly is pretty low, I don't expect top notch. In a typical wee, the place has no available wipes for the machines. The heater in the pool goes out regularly rendering the pool too cold to enjoy water classes. But today put me over the edge. I walked into the women's locker room and the stench was unbearable. I reported it to the front desk, but I doubt the kids who run the place will do anything to remedy the situation. I'm seriously thinking of canceling my membership. read more

In April 2020, I unfortunately lost my job due to COVID-19. I had requested my account be frozen until I gave further notice. Recently, I saw that my bills bank account was being charged for a membership fee for the past few months. Overall, I sent 4 emails and 3 text messages asking for someone to cancel my membership and reimburse me for the dues that shouldn't have been processed. 3 emails went unanswered and the texts gave me a runaround. I finally heard from Customer Care today that said, "Account freezes are only one for a period of time and unfroze when that time is completed." I would never recommend doing business or giving your hard earned money to a company that cares so little about how the community around them has been impacted during these trying times. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. I went in today to switch gyms from Planet Fitness (we live in Eagle and it's just too far for us now), and John helped me out. I chose the Peak Plus membership which is $30 a month and my total today was $90 for the enrollment and processing fees. This was a little steep but I went with it after prodding at John about why the enrollment fee was $50 (more expensive than Axiom which actually has a clean establishment with updated machines), he just said it's their enrollment fee and continued on. I called back in the parking lot after checking online and seeing that there would only be a $10 processing fee if I had signed up online. John answered and said that until the 6th there is free enrollment and he'd be happy to honor it if I came in to sign up! I let him know I had just signed up with him and he said there was nothing he could do. All so he could earn some commission he kept that little free enrollment a secret from me, lol terrible customer service save yourself the hassle and go literally anywhere else. read more

My favorite gym in Boise. Huge facility with everything you need. A full HIIT room area with plenty of Olympic weights and room for dynamic exercise. Staff was friendly and they have a indoor tracK to get my run on when it snows. read more

I've been going to Crunch Gym for little over a year now, I like the price and the people and I find it not to be overly crowded. Although I am disappointed that crunch gyms do not have a pool. Plus every time I go to run on the treadmill it seems that they have one or two TVs out. (As in not working or turned off) I do not have an iPod. so I watch TV as I run to keep my mind focused. Another thing is that the music that plays over the gyms intercom is a bit too loud I feel like I cannot hear anyone talk to me. read more

The gym equipment here is decent and the location is convenient. However I would say maintence of certain amenities is cause for serious concern. I have been a member here since the end of February and in that time the spa has never worked, the steam room is jerry rigged, and on it's best days which are rare barely functions as it should. One of the pools has been closed multiple times due to a bacteria issue. The thing that is ridiculous is these amenities are featured and offered as part of higher priced gym memberships which I am paying for which 1 has never worked being the spa even a crunch employee informed me that the spa has never worked since he started working there, and 2 the steam room doesnt even function as it should. So my question to management is why are these amenities advertised when signing up for a gym membership and why are we being charged to use them if they aren't operating or working properly? Its false advertisement as far as I'm concerned and everyone paying to be able to access them should be credited. I have belonged to 24 hour fitness and axiom in the past. Those gyms were run better, and it was never acceptable for equipment to not be working for more than a day or two. It ultimately comes down to poor management. read more

I am pretty sure the only way Crunch survives financially is by having teenagers be their managers because they are too financially poor to have a working security/camera system inside their fitness center. My son's backpack was stolen out of a locker and when we called to have them check footage of it they said "they didn't have cameras in the locker rooms." Seriously, of course you don't but you do inside everywhere else and they told us they don't work. WOW, here is to hoping anyone doesn't get assaulted there or something stolen because they have fake camera's. Even lockers aren't safe!!! read more
