The front desk staff were very nice, but the clientele felt like the inmates at Leavenworth prison. Particularly one short, overly tattooed, white runt with spiky hair, about 40, wearing wireless earbuds so he can't hear all the negative things people are saying about him, who sits on machines for 20 minutes texting and not allowing anybody else to use them. I asked if I could work in and he said he had one more set. Then he started texting like a 15-year-old girl for another five minutes. I finally said something to him and he acted like I was the one being the jerk. What a tiny, sad life he must have, always trying to prove he's "tough", even to people that are friendly to him. Probably got bullied in elementary school and has been taking it out on the world ever since. Then I tried to use the other lap pull down machine, and the second guy using that one gave him an attitude about working in on it too, even though I asked him in a very friendly way. The first guy got up and walked away from the machine so I finally got to use the one I wanted to use in the first place, but then he came back and said he was still using it. This is about 10 minutes after I asked him if I could work in. We got into a ridiculous discussion until I finally had enough and told him he could have the machine if it was that important to him and that he clearly needed the little victory more than I did. I have two black belts and could've mopped the floor with him, but I just wanted to finish my workout. I walked away and used a different machine and observed as he and some other guys joked and laughed about it, trying to regain whatever actual pride he has, I suppose. And it suddenly dawned on me that the regular members at this gym are purposely harassing new people because the gym is probably overcrowded and they want to intimidate people so they won't come back. This should be a great concern to the manager because he's going to lose a lot of business running a gym full of jerks. They seem to have created their own little mafia, except without the actual deadliness. I would suggest hiring somebody that doesn't use the gym to pose as a new member and try to work in with some of the muscleheads in there to see if this is a strategy of theirs. When I was leaving, I complained to the front desk, but they didn't even offer to take a report or show any interest. They were very nice, but the right thing to do would've been to ask me to point this clown out to her so that she could know who the troublemaker of the Jim were for future reference. If that was my gym and there were short man complex afflicted butt flaps like him treating classy members like that, I would cancel their memberships. This gym is way out of my way. I was only there because I had some business in Nampa that day so I won't be back. If I do happen to need to use the gym again, let it be known that Shorty has used up his one free pass.

I was only in town for a week and was able to contact them via the web site to make sure I could come in and buy a week membership. Quick note: they do not accept cash. I went at odd times since I was in town for meetings, and the place was often nearly deserted. There was staff around, but sometimes you had to look as they're busy doing things, not just sitting there waiting for you to show up. I did get greeted and shown around the different rooms. It is a strange layout, but once you find where everything is, it's completely fine. There are two main rooms for weights and machines, and you might have to go back and forth if you want to do things in a certain order, but a few extra steps isn't going to kill you, right? Solid gym, and if I worked in downtown Boise, good chance I'd get a membership here.

My pet peeve in gym culture, always welcome the guest, never make them feel like they're putting you out. I travel and I'm literally at new gym everyday and always try to show respect for each policy in place. This guy was everything I hate about "bro man" fitness. Bragging to his clinic, bad energy all around. I debated on confronting him on his attitude but the other gentlemen Shane(which may have been new) stepped in with patience and showed me the lay of the land. Took a few moments to help me get a good much needed workout. Struggling rehabbing a herniated side in neck and the gym was crucial to get blood flowing. Had it been up to tattoo cliche motivational quote on chest guy I wouldn't of been able to finish the check in. So thanks again Shane for making up for the rudeness of that trainer. I've trained also, I have been in gym culture for decades, that guys got a lot of humility coming his way if he wants to grow in that space. Anyways- never usually leave bad reviews but that guy needs to be called out. Great gym and location. Trainer guy....make eye contact with people trying to pay money to occupy your space for an hour. The gym is extremely clean & well-maintained. I guess it helps that every piece of extensive equipment is brand new! The gym is more spacious than the last 2 that I've had a membership with. Not sure if it's because they haven't been opened very long, but it's never crowded at all & there is a huge amount of equipment, both free weights & fixed machines. Another feature I love is that, although the membership fees are very low, unlike so many of the other $20/month gyms in the area, there is most often an employee their at the desk to help you with questions & suggestions. Their location is a plus because there is plenty of parking & lots of places to eat after your workout.

In the 6 months that I went here about half the lights were out and none of them were fixed and I remember one time I was working out and the lat pulldown machine had been broken for about 2 weeks, gym owner comes in with a friend and I overhear the friend ask if he had ordered the new part for the pulldown machine and owner says no but I probably should soon. It's hard to justify paying into a gym where repairs take upwards of a month or 2 like I've seen in the past but the bright side is, not everything is broken. If you casually work out for health purposes this is a great gym but if you take your lifting career seriously, you may want to look into other options

Eventually, he was left with no coach at all, despite us having already paid for his sessions. From there, communication completely fell apart. I repeatedly reached out by phone, email, and text, trying to get his remaining sessions scheduled. Appointments would be made and then canceled, over and over. Before anything was resolved, the Boise location shut down. We still have 13 prepaid sessions that have never been honored. Since then, I've emailed, called, and messaged the owner (Shaun Wardle), along with coaches and managers, anyone I had contact information for like Ryan, Booby, Keena, Hudson. I have received no response from anyone. I've also tried to transfer my son to the Nampa location so he could simply use the sessions we've already paid for, but I've had no success. This is the first negative review I've ever left because I don't like criticizing businesses, but this experience has been incredibly frustrating. The lack of communication, professionalism, and customer service has been unacceptable. Based on my experience, I would not recommend signing up with D1. I simply want the 13 sessions we paid for to be honored or refunded so we can move on.

She is the best teacher I have had and keeps the class interesting with all sorts of different circuit training. Really not sure why Rachel who runs the classes at the recreation center always is threatening to cancel this class. This class is so important to a lot of attendees who do better with a pool centered fitness class. I hope she rethinks her approach.

This is one of the greatest gyms I have gone to, far better than high school gyms. I'd personally…read morenot listen to the one other terrible review that's left on here, sure there may be a bunch of people at certain times; such as 4-5pm since people are getting off of work. Around 3pm there are quite a bunch of high school students working out (including me). No, people don't film their friends doing sets, no, nobody is barefoot. The machines aren't sticky because you get a RAG and spray to wipe them down if they are ever left with sweat. The staff members are very pleasant, and are present during the times that are displayed on the front desk. If you're all about gym etiquette and are don't like grunting then go ahead and go to planet fitness where that grunting won't be heard over the lunk alarm, jeez. Better yet, get a pair of noise cancelling headphones or earbuds. The staff members clean and vacuum the gym as well as the bathrooms daily before they leave to go home, as this is a 24-hour gym. If there's someone using the machine you need then it's as simple as asking "how many sets do you have left?" and then being patient as said person finishes their workout. Yes, you may see high school students working out in groups and waiting for their friends to do their sets before continuing theirs, just pop a question and you'll get the machine in a few minutes. No, we don't bite. The gym was recently remodeled and looks far different than it does in the displayed photos. There are many more machines than there were a few months ago. There is also an upstairs where you can do yoga and other sort of workouts. There are many options for cardio and there are usually enough machines for everyone since there are so many. There are fans all around the gym that keep it nice and cool inside, it also usually smells good due to the staff cleaning so much. This is the perfect place to improve yourself and your quality of life, go ahead and give it a shot. Pausing and cancelling memberships are also very easy as you don't sign your soul away (unlike other gyms). One recommendation I have is about the music played in the gym, it could be a little better. However, since I am very sensible I bring my own noise cancelling headphones if I want to listen to something else.
