I had a poor experience getting rushed out of the bathroom because they had a female cleaning it. Ive never experienced this at another crunch or gym and just think its unjustified to close a men's locker room for an hour a day because you went into a contract for a woman to clean the men's bathroom. I am a paying member and I shouldn't have to be scolded to leave a locker room I pay monthly to use because it happens to be the only time I can get into the facility to train. 2026 line doesnt cut it when my money is being take. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Crunch Oceanside. I called to cancel my membership and spoke with a manager who told me I had one more month to use the club (one more billing cycle) and that my membership would be cancelled after that. Unfortunately, it was never actually cancelled. Because the card they had on file expired, I didn't realize anything was wrong until I was suddenly sent to collections with no prior notice. AFTER that, I was told to email the manager showing my cancellation correspondence. I did so and received no response, forcing me to follow up again. The communication and customer service have been terrible throughout this entire process. It shouldn't be this difficult to cancel a membership or get a simple reply. Make sure you get your cancellation confirmation in writing!!! read more

Had a great experience at Belles booty burn last weekend. The class was a great mixture of workouts offering modifications while still maintaining a good challenging workout! Crazy seeing this rating. Since Anthony has taken over, this location has been truly amazing. 1. I've seen Anthony the GM truly want to help people reach fitness goals and if having the ability too, give great deals to people wanting to renew or become new members. I HATE salesmen, and tacky gym people trying to up-charge or sell something not needed or wanted. Anthony does NOT give that vibe at all. Very fun and professional attitude. You can even tell in his employees. They all give the presence that they actually like being at work, working for him and it shows how it is translated to the members. Now maybe for the high end gym fanatic they'll complain it doesn't have every bell and whistle to hit your random glute or specific shoulder muscle....for a quality gym, great pricing, really great staff and GM. You cannot beat Crunch Fitness in Oceanside. BONUS POINTS You truly can go there without headphones and be totally satisfied. They play really good music. Great selection of 90's to current R&B, hip hop, and even rock. My example is they went from I Luv Your Girl by The Dream, to Mr. Crowley by Ozzy Osbourne. This is an average Joe gym which is fine for my mends. Dirty floors. Dirt bathrooms. Most individuals are on their phone sitting and hogging equipment. It's like a club in the evenings. Like people have nothing to do so they go and sit in the workout room and every 30 minutes do 5 squats in between phone seshs'. Went into the work out area with the artificial turf and squat racks. Some person was sprawled out looked like asleep in dirty street clothes. Left for another part of the gym, and came back and they were still just laying there looking asleep. Went into sauna. An individual that looked filthy was in there rubbing every very inch of their crusty body with a hand towel. Whatever they were rubbing off was becoming airborne and I felt sick. It's too bad because the member price is good and the staff at the front desk are so very nice. The trainers look helpful. I will keep the membership but after the year will move to another gym that is cleaner and monitors who is in the facility. read more

Just found out today that crunch of Oceanside sent our bill to debt collections after not paying for 6 months. We sent a formal email back in May to cancel our membership. The manager had replied and stated the final bill amount but because we didn't "verify the final bill amount" being charged he didn't cancel it. So they just kept trying to charge monthly membership fees to a closed bank account. We didn't get any emails, voicemails, or texts from Crunch asking for payments or outstanding bills. Maybe next time they can actually leave a voicemail for people so they don't waste their time with a debt collector. I mean being charged for 6 months after sending a formal email saying to cancel their membership...really? Not a business approach that actually cares for people. read more

I went there to tan as I have a peak membership which allows me to tan anywhere with crunch. I was told that you have to have a peak + membership with this particular club. Either crunch is lying about their memberships or this club that is owned by another private owner using the name crunch need to fix their membership program. I was told that the crunch where I signed up is wrong. This crunch is small, dirty, the restrooms are not clean, and the manger said he was going to let me tan today but it's not what they are supposed to do. I saw this as you can break the rules but you can't call corporate to figure out what's right. read more

No one cleans here. The floor, locker room, walls are filthy. Given the humidity by the beach cleanliness should be a priority because it allows more bacteria and the likely hood of getting sick from the gym increases. You can wipe your own equipment off but if no one cleans the gym.. it doesn't help. read more

Terrible! Charged for 8 months, 2x in February. Signed a contract back to my (founding member since 2018) original base of $9.99 AND Medicaid also paid for December January February and March!!! (Fraud alert) I have a statement from my healthcare provider. They froze my membership in February, and continued charging me for March, April, May, June and even July!!!! Had to change financial institutions, the credit union I initially used is very small and disputes are handled by a 3rd party that hasn't a CLUE on EFT law, and neither does crunch Oceanside. Obviously being a member since 2018 I know members, some that are still there, and many others that left, even a few former employees. With 400 + gyms in the US and 40+ overseas, I'm very concerned about our military, active and veterans and their families, because that is where a majority of their gyms are here in the US and especially overseas! Crunch went into receivership in 2008, and also runs planet fitness. Both are known by the larger financial institutions their violations of "no service, no charges". I have texts from Mike Stevens about waiting the 60 days for Medicaid not to restart, freezing my membership AND a contract that says, "base" (screen shot left side of the contract) The date of signing the computer was down, the printer didn't work (which BBB says is a big RED FLAG) Once I received the contract, which stated base but not at my founding membership price, I spoke to Mike several times and he promised he work on getting me the base price back. I checked in with him every couple of weeks, for a statement of payments from Medicaid. Finally, he replied the end of February that corporate had no record. Ha! Once I moved my debit card to a much larger credit union, several times they told me they get numerous complaints about not only crunch, but the other gyms like Planet fitness. Note: BBB had them at an F, over 1,000 complaints in 3 years, corporate at a 1.1 out of 5. Went up to a B, with incentives given to members writing a high rating. Now back down to an F, for non responses to the BBB. Which the 1.1 rating for corporate is equal to. They say new management, they change the name, same company has the receivership! Be warned, do NOT call Anthony, Tony! He started yelling and screaming at me for disrespecting him. Like calling someone Dave vs David is a mortal sin. Best of luck with him and his short temper. Even mild mannered Sala yelled at me for requesting a copy my final time in there. Both guys did this in front of other members to a 70 year old senior citizen and the Mom of 3 US Marines. My first time here today. I booked a yoga class through ClassPass. The reception was not as warm as I hoped. I was told I need my phone to show I booked the class. Most places I go to through Class Pass never ask to see my phone. Anyways, I had to go back to my car to get my phone to show that I booked the class. Then I had to do some paperwork to get in there. It seems like this place has been around for quite some time. You can tell. I know some people don't mind what it looks like & just want to get their work out on. The floor where we did our flow was a little dirty it looked like. There was a hairball next to me I noticed and tried to avoid. I don't think it was mine! The instructor was awesome! Really I have to say Crunch Oceanside is the best gym around. The management, teachers and trainers are the absolute most friendly and helpful. There is plenty of room both in the gym and classes and you don't feel crammed like other places. This Crunch Fitness facility just celebrated its' one-year anniversary, and as such it is in great condition and offers a plethora of new equipment. It is a large Crunch Fitness venue, not as large as the select club in Carlsbad, but much larger than my Massachusetts based facility. The manager is very helpful and friendly and gave me a quick tour of the gym. There is a wide variety of free weights, hammer press, cable equipment, aerobic equipment, boxing, biking, spinning, etc. There is a separate room for aerobic classes, spinning, stretching, and more. Crunch Fitness charges only $9.95 a month for a base fee, and a small once a year annual fee, or $21.95 for a multi-club fee. They also have other options available. I'd be happy to use this gym whenever I'm in town. Note that a multi gym membership will cover entrance to this facility, but not the Carlsbad Crunch. read more

I come here about five times a week, and I rarely use the bathroom. With that said, most of the equipment is really nice as well. Taken care of the music is always appropriate and the weights are nice. But the bathroom is the worst part of the whole experience, and I refuse to use it due to the smell the paint falling off all the odors and things like that are going on in there you can tell it's not taken care of. read more

When I started a trial, there was no running water. However, I was offered a bottled water. The place was in disarray. I still signed up because it was so close to my apartment and it cost more than the competition. Big mistake. Worst Crunch I've ever visited. All of the reviews about them being sketchy with your money are true. I'm currently disputing charges with my credit card company. Was a member on a year contract. Went in twice to confirm my last day at the gym before the end of the contract. Since that last day, I was continually charged the raised monthly and an annual fee. None of this was mentioned the two times I confirmed the end date. The owner does not care and it shows. The members clean up more than the employees. They should be paying members to go there. Bathrooms stunk everytime. None of the equipment is maintained, ongoing construction, terrible lighting, everything looks dirty. Such an awful impression being that I just moved to the state. I hope the owner and ABC billing company know that they're taking money from a baby. A new family, out here in California. No wonder people are struggling out here when scam artists like these exist. I've been coming here for about 3 years now. I really enjoy the workout space. I've never had trouble finding equipment or waiting on a machine. They've recently undergone new management, which initially worried me as I originally signed up in PB, which they are no longer affiliated with. My membership was not registering at the Oceanside location, however, Eileen was super helpful in facilitating my membership transition over to this gym. All of the staff is wonderful, gym is clean, and the other members are friendly as well. Don't see myself going anywhere else for a while! Shout out to Karrie!
