It's a great gym. They have a hair dryer in the women's locker room. And they have these double curtains in the showers which is a pretty cool idea and a little bench outside the shower to put your things on. The little touches are nice. I like that they have the 30 minute workout room here. I don't really see that in a lot of SD county PFs for some reason. A+ I'll definitely come back soon. Great experience. It was my overall pick of any in Oceanside Carlsbad Vista. But now it's just a joke. First of all to the employees I get it. While this location is a bit smaller compared to most planet fitness locations in the area, they still do have a great assortment of equipment and machines. It can get crowded quickly as they just don't have as many duplicates of equipment and machines as other locations, but if you come at a less busy time, they have everything you need without a wait. This location is kept very clean and all of the staff are very pleasant, welcoming, and kind. You really can't ask for more! Plenty of parking spaces in their lot too. read more

Super Friendly Staff & Clean Facility-- love how they are always willing to help out with using machines & lockers. Other note, I came to this gym over 15 times already & had no issues with the bag policy until now. I had my bag on all occasions & just recently had to put mine in a locker, no problem. I understand but was surprised it wasn't brought up to me on the other occasions. They were really sweet about it, BUT on multiple occasions I have been bothered by both men & women taking phone calls on machines such as: treadmills, leg presses, etc. And they were not stopped despite them being loud and obnoxious on face time, WHILE using headphones. Don't you think that this is more disruptive than a tote bag? I've even seen HS students with their full on backpacks coming in & play fighting/punching each other. Other than that, no issues. I just curious as to why I was called out this time rather than those who are using their phones to make phone calls? Is there another membership I need to upgrade to, to get the same amenities? I was visiting from out of town and got a guest pass to this Planet Fitness and I was amazed! If the Planet Fitness in my hometown was anything like this I would probably choose this over my much more expensive gym membership. First of all, this gym is HUGE. Literally so much bigger than any PF I've ever visited. Staff was friendly, gym was extremely clean and they also offered ankle straps and barbell pads to borrow which was nice. Kind of irrelevant but they also had that nice, dark gym lighting which doesn't rly make a difference but makes for nice vibes. I came around 9pm on a Saturday and it was EMPTY. Like every other PF, no barbells but it had everything I needed to complete my workout. 10/10 would visit again. read more

It has all you need for your average joe. It even had more weigh lifting things than they had in New York. They're open all the time. Have a lot of equipment for all you would need and/or want to do. Unless you want to be a body builder, then I'm not sure this would be the right place for you. They have lots of tvs going as you're working out. An ab center. Various classes. And a 30 minute workout center too. For $10 a month you get access to the gym. For $20 you can go to any gym and bring a friend. This is by far my favorite Planet Fitness to go to. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Facilities are great. BUT- A trainer revoked my membership after a rude and awkward interaction. The reason was for "vaping near the doorway" while I was on my way out, but only after ignoring me saying thank you and goodbye and me laughing and saying "oh okay" I was leaving after tanning, and my girlfriend was going to finish tanning after a couple more minutes. And while she was leaving, and in a loud voice, he told her that he was going to take my membership if it happened again and made people look at her and made her feel uncomfortable. He then proceeded to cancel my membership anyway, despite me being there for nine months with no issues or conversations with staff other than checking in and exiting. I had never been talked to, warned, or informed of any consequences, and honestly believe I do not deserve this. This is the same trainer who has made my girlfriend feel uncomfortable before in the past with his persistent one on one training offers that made her avoid going without me for an extended period of time. This was the first time I had even seen or interacted with the guy and he did this to us. When I saw the email about the outcome and went back into talk with the guy, he was laughing at me the entire time we were talking and never stop smiling once and said he was just smiling because it's his normal reaction and he's a "normal guy". Admitted to feeling guilty about how it happened, but still refused to turn my membership back on. I know this is a lot, I just can't believe how I was treated yesterday. read more

I've used countless of fitness centers, such as LA Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness. I did like both LA Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness but they were so pricey and the commitment for the membership was one thing I did not like about so I had to end up cancelling. I remember seeing Planet Fitness but it wasn't well-known but it looks like a lot of Planet Fitness are starting to pop around the area so I decided to try it out. There was a deal during beginning of the year where you can pay 20 cents as a down payment and pay $10/month, which is a good deal! You also pay an annual fee a month after you sign up, which is $40/year, which definitely isn't bad compared to the other fitness centers. They even have a shower area, where some 24 Hour Fitness centers don't even provide this and they're more expensive than Planet Fitness. You could also pay for $23/month where you would get more perks than the regular membership, such as getting a massage chair, tanning machine, hydromassage machine, total body enhancement, and some discounts on some shoes or drinks. You can also bring a buddy for free, which isn't bad either. You could also use any Planet Fitness center with this membership while the regular one is only locked to that specific fitness center. I want to say I'm definitely impressed with the fitness center where they have a lot of workout cardio machines, weight machines, and even a 30-minute non-stop workout area where you would go to each machine for every 10-20 seconds and do your workout that way. The only thing they wouldn't have are fitness classes and the classes seem to be limited with times. One thing that I couldn't give a 5 star to this place is that some of the employees are not that friendly. When I greet them to get my key card scanned, they'll just stare at me with such judgement and not say hi back. I thought this place was a "Free Judgement" place but I get judged by the actual employees, which is awkward... But overall, it's a great fitness center where it's opened 24 hours and they told me they're only not 24 hours during Christmas but they're opened on most of the holidays! I came by for a workout December 24 (we were just visiting San Marcos). The staff at the front desk was super friendly and welcoming. I fully intended to pay for the day, but since this was my first time at PF, they gave me a free pass! Facilities were super clean, orderly, and it was not crowded. I had a great workout. I wish I had brought a towel because the showers looked good as well. Great place for a workout. Highly recommend this PF in particular. read more

I left this place pretty much because of the staff. They are a joke, and the fact that an owner would allow someone like that to be the face of it is bewildering to me. The gym is obviously very commercialized if they sell it to you just like that. It did get a little busy sometimes, but for the most part it's all just died off. If you're reading this looking for a recommendation or review of this place here it is. Don't bother signing up. I would recommend going to another gym unless you're trying to go to a place that just sells as many memberships as they can it does not care about their clientele. Also, having to deal with the douche bags at the gym is no fun. The ones that go there and think their big stuff. The clowns just sitting on the machine on their phone. So, a couple months since my complaints about maskless employees. This place deserves to be shut down. They have a token notice on the front door saying masks required inside (by current SD HEALTH DEPARMENT mandates) and yet 90% of the people there were not wearing, or even carrying, masks. The staff had theirs off a lot, and one lady staffer could not be bothered to pull it up to cover her nose when speaking with me. Seriously? Can't even go to a gym for our health. What can I say? I have yet to encounter a single problem with Planet Fitness of Vista. Their policy is what attracted me the most, Planet Fitness as a whole being a very well respected and judgment-free zone. One of the biggest things I wanted to avoid was going into a gym where it was nothing but heavy breathing and grunting while watching guys and gals throw their backs out with improper lifting techniques. Not here! Planet Fitness Vista has a very respectable staff who is friendly all the time! They are incredibly helpful and have an active involvement with the equipment. There has never been a time where I don't see on the floor either cleaning equipment or assisting the personal trainers. I just joined this gym after being a member at so many other gyms before. Friendly staff. Equipment does the job. Ohe smaller side which is fine for me since I can go during non-peak hours. My complaint here is that I spoke to 3 people before signing up. 1 on the phone and 2 in person and all of them said if I sign up for the black membership which is the more expensive membership and a commitment for a year that I could bring a guest every time I came. I just signed up yesterday and worked out during the day and decided to bring my husband back with me in the evening to try out the massage chairs only to be told by the kid at the front desk that those options were only available to the black card members and not the guest. I had no idea and out of all three people that I spoke to, no one told me that. Of course, it was not that kid who had signed us up but it would have been nice if someone would have mentioned that instead of just trying to sell me a membership like one of the other complaints mentioned. I get that the people working here are just trying to make a living and they do not make the rules, but that's a pretty big point in signing up for a more expensive membership in bringing a guest your guest would be able to share in your experience of the gym.
