I have heard a lot of good things about Crunchies and Munchies so I decided to try it out on Super Bowl Sunday. The chicken wings were on the small side. It's not fair to compare this place to wing joints up North. So I won't. We got the Xtra hot wings sauce and I would say the sauce was just hot. However, the sauce is better than Anchor Bar. Overall, I would rate this place 3.5 stars. The staff seemed friendly and the restaurant looked clean. I will come back and try the Thermal Meltdown next time. I'm not one to complain typically but today I've had enough of poor service. I've been a patron of Crunchies & Munchies Inc. since it was in a plaza on the corner of NE 14th & 25th in Ocala in the early 1990's. Honestly, we order there at least once a month. Today I placed an order as I typically do. When I got home with the order, it wasn't what we ordered. Our order is always the same, we order 50 wings. Half we order are Hot, and half are mild. When I checked the order we literally got 50 plain wings. Their wings have always been absolutely drenched in sauce. I called to speak to the restaurant and the girl that answered the phone was very quick to get me to the manager. I explained to the manager what I was looking at. I heard her ask an employee while I was on the phone about the order and he responded that he thought that someone else was going to put the sauce on the wings. I explained to her that I could send her the photos of the food. After I sent her the photos her response to me was to bring the wings back and they would then make it right by cooking up a new batch or I could just give her my name and she was allowed to give me 10% off my next order. She said that this was the best she could do as direct ted by the owners of the restaurant. So my choices were to get 10% off my next order or drive back 20 minutes and wait on a new order. Shame on Crunchies & Munchies Inc. for charging me $65 for wings, giving me the wrong product that I paid for then offering me up to waste probably an additional hour of my day or offering me 10% off. They will not get any additional patronage from me. For the group of people that think it's about getting 10% off your next order or getting something free was the idea you are all completely wrong. The idea is that as a consumer you pay for something and you expect it to be correct the first time. If they were truly concerned about making the order right they would've cooked a new order and then brought it to me and not wasted any more of my time or money. Being laissez-faire about a topic and ever so quick to offers a discount is not the answer. That shows a routine of complacency and the willingness to be agreeable to deliver subpar products or service. read more

Placed my order today, spent almost 70.00 got the 50 wings with fries & coleslaw , at drive thru i ask if my coleslaw is in the bag they claim it is, so I pulled over to find it wasn't in the bag so I had to go in to get it then make the drive home which is about 30 min away, to find the wings are dry the had really no sauce and I'm use to the sauce being on the bottom of the box so I dump the wings in a bowl to find they put so many wax paper in the box that whatever sauce they stuck on the wings was absorbed by the wax paper then of course I asked for ranch and blue cheese to find i had no sauces at all. I call the restaurant and yea it's peachy they are willing to give me 15% off my next order, but honestly after spending 70.00 on bad food to begin with the 15% don't do any good considering I'm sure i won't be willing to spend that kind of money there again for a long time. Ordered a Fish Sandwich on a bun with a side order of coleslaw. The Fish has a crispy batter seasoned perfectly with a generous portion tender fish filet and add your condiments and I had fresh lettuce, tomato, great pickles added. It was excellent! I ordered a side coleslaw that was very fresh and my favorite of all the others in town. Too many other restaurants are sugary sweet but theirs has a slight sweet with fresh veggies! Well, once again, we wanted wings, but didn't have many choices, so we opted (reluctantly) for Crunchies and Munchies. We ordered 30 wings, extra crispy and fries, and I told them "please, no extra crispy fries" So, I went to pick them up and still not allowed to enter the lobby- drive thru only (?). My order was $47 and they asked me if I wanted to tip, (well, I haven't tasted the food yet - was my thought), but I declined. So I got them home, and although the wings were done, they certainly weren't crispy, but better than soggy (gross!). And the fries, looked bad. Only a handful were plump, cooked, but not over cooked. I doubt we'll be back anytime soon. It really is disappointing, because we want to like them, but their product quality has declined in the last few years to the point that it's really not good, and at almost $50, I can certainly get better food somewhere else. read more

This is a tough review to write because this place is a Dilemma. The wings were done perfectly; but they didn't put on any sauce (we asked for hot/buffalo), they must have forgot the blue cheese they offered, and the fries were salted perfectly; but they weren't crispy (resolved but 2 minutes in the broiler when we got home). Staff was great, parking ample (lobby closed...covid??), and nice location. Lots of ++ lots of - -. Most people think a tie = a 3-star review. Very disappointed in Crunchies & Munchies this evening. I got 15 mild wings, some fries and a few extra blue cheese dressings for $24.00, which I think is very expensive. 1) The wings were luke warm and are usually better if you pick them up within 10 minutes of ordering them but I went at 20-25 minutes as instructed by the order taker. Too late. The wings were warm but the blue cheese was warm too and was dissipating. The fries were cold and were soaking in wing grease. 2) The cashier always asks if I want to leave a tip even I'm placing and picking up my own order through the drive thru and are already paying a high price. A few suggestions to this place: 1). Tell the person that the order will be ready in 10-15 minutes instead of 20-25 so that the wings and fries are still hot. 2). Don't ask for a tip through the drive-thru. 3). Ensure the wings and fries are separate so that the fries don't get coated in wing grease. read more

I am truly honored to write this review for crunchies and munchies. I am an African-American senior citizen that moved here to Ocala from Miami, Florida 11 years ago. I had the opportunity of going to crutches and munches on 14th St. when they were there and when you go there, people are hanging out the walk out the door, black white, Hispanic, everyone, they have since then relocated and I just want to commend them for the excellent food excellent customer service, excellent management and most of all the cleanliness of their locations I especially want to come in Miss Taylor she works at the baseline location that location is really the bomb the employees there are very courteous, very helpful and I have nothing but good comments to make on this location . I had the opportunity of speaking to someone in the other location in reference to the excellent service that I received on baseline and that young man was awesome and very grateful for my comments if you want some good southern cooking and you don't feel like cooking, go to the crunchies and munchies , it takes all type of people in this world and unfortunately not all people are going to act the way you want them to act however, I respect the business who caters to all people. I enjoyed my meal! I ordered the mild garlic wings lunch deal! My wings were CRISPY and WET which is a MUST for me! The fries were fresh and crunchy, too! My toddler enjoyed the side of baked beans. I will say I was a little disappointed that when considering ordering a 15 piece, they would not split flavors. ( maybe because of COVID, idk)The drink that comes with the meal was HUGE, which is a plus also! The tea and lemonade were both tasty! Very disappointed this Sunday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend of 2021. We called to place an order with a coupon that we had been saving only to be informed that they would not accept the coupon. We were saving this coupon for this particular race weekend. It was the last coupon we had for the Sunday special of 50 wings with fries, slaw and a 2 liter soda for $42.99. The coupon has no expiration date but was informed by the gentleman who answered the phone that they did not have to accept it and that they would not accept it. Basically, he said we could order something if we wanted or we could go somewhere else but that the store would not accept the coupon. He never offered an alternate solution and was very short with us on the phone. Please see the attached picture on the coupon, it is a full sheet out of the paper mint, note that we folded the page to show the back. Having been in retail for most of my life I know and understand the value of making a customer who has a problem happy with a solution. I guess this gentleman has not heard of The Multiplier Effect where consumers will tell others about their customer service experiences, both good and bad, with the bad news reaching more ears. Americans say they tell an average of nine people about good experiences, and nearly twice as many (16 people) about poor ones - making every individual service interaction important for businesses. 2/2 times I've had multiple issues. First time, everything was cold, barely any sauce, given an attitude when I asked to have it redone. This time when I called I (tried) to specify how I would like things. Make sure there's enough sauce and both the wings And the french fries were to be crispy. Ghis is the 3rd time Ive had a problem here. I go back because they usually make awesome wings and fries and my kids love it The first problem at the old location they charged me $260.00 by mistake to my debit card. it took several days to get a check back from the owner and nothing to make up for my trouble. The second time the hot garlic wings were plain....they did give us a free order next time wich I thought was appropriate. This time the hot garlic wings were plain and the fries burnt. The offer was to drive back for a pint of sauce or 10 percent(3.00) off the next order. that doent even cover the gas in my truck. They remade the order and I went back. This place is busy so clearly popular, but why is a mystery to me. The Garlic Parmesan sauce was overly greasy and not particularly flavorful. The Hot sauce tasted very similar to Frank's Redhot Wing & Crystal hot sauces, not bad but nothing special. I have been going to C&M before they were on 36th ave before they were on 25th ave before they took credit cards. I'm thinking over 20 years ago was the first time. Regardless long time. There wings used to be the best in town. Nothing fancy just a place you got good wings consistently. And they had a great fried pork sandwich. (Truly really good, fresh hot and just good). Well last 2 times I have picked up food it has went from one bite to directly into the garbage. Wings over cooked so over cooked it was like chewing on a pice of leather there was no meat it had been so thoroughly burned up. But hey I guess u put some wing sauce on it it's ok. Not for me. Today was it , done. Pork sandwich; absolute charcoal how anyone could package it up and out that through tge window to a customer is outside of their mind crazy, purposefully trying to ruin the owners biz or could just care less. Pick any of these and it's heinous. What's the deal? U don't have instructions written in the wall on how many min and at what temp things should be cooked at? Clearly I have employees who do not know how to cook so give them a timer and spell it out for them this is not rocket science it's fried food. And the easiest thing to teach is the person who wraps and bags is the last line of defense it is the most critical position in the whole chain. That personas absolute VETO POWER!! They throw it out and tell the cooks to do it over. And if they can't get it right they need to find something else to do because they can't cook. There are other things to be and do in life it's not the end of the world. But it could definitely be the end of this restaurant. I can only hope that the owner reads this gets in there and cooks the food themselves, hires an actual manager that will manage and train the employees and not just collect a pay check.
