It's so wonderful to have a nice, old-fashioned fried chicken place in our little hometown of Ocala. With two locations, you're never far from comfort food goodness. Lee's has been a classic in my family for generations! My siblings grew up eating Lee's Famous Chicken in Kentucky, so when I found out it was 34miles away friend my Florida home I had to try it. My family ordered the family meal with a mix of famous chicken, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy with extra biscuits. The service was great and the drive thru moved by quickly. We also had to go inside the dining area to get something extra and the cashier inside was also pleasant. The area was clean and the food was made fresh. Once we got home to Gainesville, the food still was fresh. The gravy and mashed potatoes was flavorful, and we were served a blessed portion of mac n cheese. No need to do a review on the chicken but to say it was over all amazing. If you haven't been to Lee's give it a try. We like them better than KFC, and we are originally from Kentucky lol ;) Sorry no pics of the food, just know we tore it up lol Maybe next time. read more

Driving home from St. Augustine, we took the route through Silver Springs home. My love said he was hungry, so we opted to stop at Lee's for lunch. While the staff wore masks, some of the time, it was not truly enforced. I noticed this a lot in this area. The Owner(?) was picking up trash outside by hand and obviously takes pride in the way his place looks. The food was ... INCREDIBLE! I got the two breast strip combo with one side the green beans. My love got the 3 strips and two sides, green beans and mashed potatoes. The strips we both got were HUGE and juicy, the breading was light and crispy with wonderful flavor. The price was good and the Mac and cheese was above average in comparison to KFC, Popeyes, etc. But the mashed potatoes were unfortunately pretty plain and the chicken strips reminded me of something I microwaved for a snack as a kid. I dined in and told Kiara, who took my order, that after I was done I would be placing an order to go. I sat at the table for a while because my family member who needed the to-go order was running late. Even after I had been there an hour Kiara remembered my name and came to ask me if I was ready to place my to go order! They take the extra time to make sure you are happy with your order as well! I love my Slow Lees on 40. Definitely miss the fast one on 200 and 27th, but this one does. I will say though, I wasn't impressed tonight. I eat here all the time. Literally, a portion of my paycheck comes to this establishment. I was in here the other day and a younger black female came in, waited patiently. She said she was a new door dash driver and hadn't been sent her bag that they require here. They refused to give her the order. She pleaded and pleaded saying she was trying to earn money and they refused. Tonight, I watched not one, but two! Two drivers come into the establishment without a bag. When cars are lined up around the building to the street where another car can not get in, therefore necessitating the need to drive to another restaurant. Service is average. The atmosphere is like a fast food restaurant. The food is hit or miss. More miss than hit. The sides are always good, but the chicken is sketchy. What I mean by this is. Most of the time when we eat (a family of 4). The chicken is old and dried up. Sometimes they might put a couple of fresh pieces in , but most of the time it's old and dried up. I just can't understand how the drive through can be packed and inside full and still get old dried up chicken. It baffles me. I have maybe 3 times in 2 years gotten fresh chicken, and it is so delicious. The best anywhere. I guess that's why I keep going back. To hopefully get some of that lottery chicken. read more
