Corned beef hash and Krispy French Toast
    Jennifer B.

Food was standard breakfast diner. I ordered the crispy french toast. Which tasted like the frier and was very greasy. Not sure what I was expecting but that wasn't it. The corned beef hash was your typical canned corned beef hash. Nothing to write home about. My sister got the waffle special and said the waffles were really great. Maybe I didn't order the right things. Server was friendly. Will try again and get the waffles.

Wolfys in Leesburg serves home made dishes. Last time I was there it was hot and uncomfortable in the restaurant.

We were on their bottom floor patio (which was lovely) but I did spy that they have a rooftop patio as well (what's not to love?!?). Everything from the food to the cocktails to the service was exemplary. For my cocktail I got their Old Colonel's Smoking Gun which was their twist on an old fashioned and was delightful. For my entree, I got their salmon entree. It's glazed and comes with a size of their crispy brussels and cheesy grits. The brussels were delish and their cheesy grits rank among some of the best I've had with sharp cheddar giving them the perfect flavor kick. The atmosphere was so pleasant. It's definitely the sort of spot you'll feel tempted to linger. Get to it!

Been here a number of times, but I don't recall what I've had every time & I've not taken pictures every time. Their dessert menu is off the hook. I've order the peanut butter pie repeatedly and it's the best I've had in 50 years. Orders I do recall: * Tomato soup: the absolute best and a crave item * Peanut butter pie, has a layer of dark chocolate and the pb part has a nice stronger flavor than many. * Key Lime pie - best I've had since moving to Florida! Only bad thing is now do I order this or the pb pie - oh what a challenge & still so many more of their desserts to try * Meatloaf plate - very good. I'd have it again. * Fish fry - I didn't have it, but a friend did and said it was terrific! She shared a delicious hushpuppy with me. * Hawaiian Tuna Melt - has grilled pineapple on it and sort of a wild addition, but totally works & delicious * Chicken wrap with salad and soup, For salad, I picked the pasta salad - it's good, but could use a bit of red wine vinegar or more of it for my tastes, but I like it. For soup, it's been the summer Watermelon Gazpacho- and that's fantastic!

Chatter noise was low enough Iwe could reasonably talk together! She started with a french onion soup, steamy and thick, obviously homemade!! I had a lobster bisque with baquettes. She then chose the chicken fried steak with mash potatoes & green beans. I had the braised short ribs Mirepoix, garlic mash potatoes & csteamed carrots with short rib reduction! We topped the night off with a delightful PRINCESS DIANA'S Taste of Ocala award winning Bruleed Bread Pudding w/ fresh berries & Amaretto , Almonds!! Btw, the Chicken fried steak is offered every Sunday. Our server, Joanne, was excellent and very knowledgeable!! The only downside was about 3 items unavailable due to heavy traffic on Valentine's Day on Saturday. The tables were candlelit, clean, and seating was comfortable. The kitchen is in full view, and immaculate. The staff were all super friendly and awesome. The many craft beers and unique flavors were amazing. They usually have a pineapple cider, that is really good. The peanut butter and jelly beer just has to be tasted to be appreciated it is so good. Today I had the watermelon beer, which was beyond refreshing, and crisp. The board at the bar is updated daily and you can sample any of the beers upon request. Unfortunately for me I was looking for a brewery experience and Big Hammock is not that. They do have a good amount of local craft beers on tap which is a definite plus. They just didn't have any of their own beer. Maybe they are brewing, but if they are not, they should change the brewery in their name to brew pub because the name is definitely misleading. It is really awkward making this review, because I really did not get the full experience. I walked in, looked around, checked out the beer menu, asked if they had any of their own beers. When that answer was "no" I left. The end.

Northgate wasn't on her list of restaurants to try out but we were intrigued by the positive reviews. From the outside, Northgate was showing its age. The menu indicated they opened in 2002 and it probably needs some updating...including the prices on the menu. The parking lot was quite full...a great sign! Our first impressions were that service was friendly and there seemed to be quite a lot of regulars who dine here as we heard a lot of conversations indicating familiarity. We were told to sit anywhere and we chose a booth. My wife and I ordered coffee and water to start out...their coffee mugs are quite big and they are attentive with refills. I ordered the Western Omelet with home fries and wheat toast and my wife ordered the Farmer's Omelet with tater tots and wheat toast. Breakfast was good with generous portions...both of us took home leftovers which was still good the next morning. All in all, a very good breakfast place (they also serve lunch) that we would likely return to. We thought the value was there. Lunch for 2 less tip was just over $30. The atmosphere in the restaurant is just absolutely amazing. It takes you back to the days when cafés were cafés. The relics on the wall are not the ones you find made in Japan and shipped in for decor. The real handmade type relics or hand-painted. The place is very patriotic and just a pleasure to be there. Everyone in the place seem so friendly that even though it was our first visit, we felt like it was home. I would recommend this establishment to absolutely anybody traveling through the area. I know it won't be my last trip. In fact, I'd say it will be my first of many.
