Fun family experience!! The place was about a two hour wait, we registered our name on the list around 9:30 and right by 11:40 we were sitting. Perfect timing for some swim in the awesome spring located directly in front of the pancake house. The pancakes were good, it was more of an experience than anything. Some of the other menu items were burgers, Philly cheese steaks, quesadillas and other sandwich options. In Our table two people had pancakes, two had cheese burgers and one had the Philly cheesesteak. Overall the food was tasty, the service was good and our server kind. Since I wasn't hungry I decided to just order a coffee. If you want to eat at this really cool restaurant you will have to make sure you make a reservation and go on a boat tour or get in the springs and come back because it does take a while to be called but I heard the food is amazing here. This place is AMAZING. The pancakes are delicious with lots of batter options including gluten free. The toppings are very expensive tho, it's like $5 per cup of toppings for like one banana. Also the waitress was not super happy and was a little rude. We did the valentines special so there was no wait, but I've heard the wait can be 3-4 hours easily. The food was amazing! We had both the buttermilk pancakes and the flavor of the month (brownie) with chocolate chips. Our server was wonderful! Kind, friendly and patient with a first time visitor. The prices were absolutely reasonable and the overall experience was fun and thoroughly enjoyable. The only (slight) drawback was going during the heat of the day with a hot griddle in front of us...it was a lot more than this Minnesota gal is used to. Tip: their wait list can get long - it was 2 1/2 hrs when we arrived - but we got on the list, typed the museum and took the boat cruise and our wait when we got back was only about 20 minutes. They will text you when you're table is ready and, if you let them know you're going on the boat cruise, they will hold your spot if your table is ready before you're back. Love love love honestly. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the nicest hostess and then immediately sat down at our table. We were lucky to visit at a time where it had just slowed down but we've heard it gets really really packed on weekends and during summer time so prepare yourself to wait. The setting is great. The fact that it's an old mill with history near the water which now has a swimming pool for the kids all in a nice park setting is pretty cool. You do have to enter the park though and pay the Park fee to get to the restaurant The online "waiting line" is a must because when you do that, you get a head start, I was shocked to see how long the waits are. It obviously is consistently busy because even the ticket house has a sign that tells you the approximate wait time. I was so grateful by the time we got there and we're walking around the park with the kids. We were already in line. Just be sure and check in with the hostess when you arrive to let her know you are indeed on site. The food is super fun. The fact that you can order all you can eat pancakes that you make on the griddle when you order the French toast it comes with the bread and the egg wash, you dip it. You cook it super fun experience with the kids. The pancake batter is pretty thick so if you like it thinner, you might need to make that request. You get to cook the eggs on the griddle too. The orange juice does not taste like it's fresh probably from frozen I had a coffee cold brew with the cold foam and that was decent. Maple syrup and honey on the table, but you can also ask to add toppings like fruit. read more

We had such a fantastic experience at Old Sugar Mill Pancake House -- truly one of those "worth it" kind of places. When we arrived at the park ranger station to enter the area, the sign said 3-3.5 hour wait and we honestly almost turned around. We ended up being the last people they were going to seat for the day. We arrived around 2:30 PM and were seated about 3:30 PM (they close at 4), and I'm so glad we stuck it out. The service was outstanding -- friendly, efficient, welcoming, and genuinely hustling to take care of everyone despite how busy it was. You could tell the staff cared about keeping things moving and making sure guests still had a great experience. That alone made the wait feel totally justified. The setting doesn't hurt either -- the springs are absolutely gorgeous. We missed the last boat tour this trip since it leaves at 4, but I've done it in the past and it's excellent -- highly recommend timing your visit earlier if you want to catch that too. All in all, great food, amazing service, beautiful surroundings, and a fun, memorable experience. If you see a crazy wait time, don't panic -- it's worth it. We'll absolutely be back (and earlier next time!). read more

The sign indicated "no wait" However, once entering the restaurant we were told there was a 2 hour wait. The ranger told us it was up to the restaurant to notify them of the wait list where they update the signage to indicate the wait time. We recently visited The Old Sugar Mill Pancake House and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. I've been here multiple times in the past and always loved it. I moved back from Colorado recently, and this was my first time coming in probably five or six years. I was genuinely excited to come back. I even brought a friend who flew in from Colorado because I remembered how fun it is to cook your own pancakes on the griddle in the middle of the table. It's such a unique experience, and I personally love the buckwheat pancakes. About an hour before closing, since they close at 4 pm, I called to make sure we could still be seated. The person who answered tried to tell me they were "shutting everything down," even though it was still well within posted business hours. I let her know we would come quickly and not linger. We arrived around 3:22 pm and were seated by Emily. She asked if we were the ones who called, and when I said yes ma'am, she began loudly pushing chairs into other tables in a way that felt irritated. The kitchen is open to the dining area, and while grabbing pancake batter from the refrigerator she sarcastically said, "It's not like I wanted to go home or anything." It was loud enough for us to clearly hear from our table. We ordered immediately and tried to be respectful of the time. We were finished around 3:45 pm, well before closing. Emily even offered that we could finish cooking the rest of the pancakes and take them home. To lighten the mood, I may or may not have made a very creatively shaped pancake in an attempt to get a smile. She did soften a bit toward the end, which I appreciated. I completely understand wanting to go home at the end of a shift. We all do. But if closing time is 4 pm, guests arriving before then should not feel like an inconvenience for being there during posted business hours. I was really looking forward to sharing a fun experience with my friend, and it just felt tense instead. The food was still good, and I still love the concept. I just hope future guests don't feel like they're rushing against someone else's clock. Ps: was sad their bagel cream cheese and cucumber sandwich is gone. Gluten free service needs to improve drastically! The separate pans take too long to get to a good temperature for cooking pancakes. Either keep them warmed in the back or provide a separate burner to warm them. My pan never got warm enough and everyone in my party was finished eating. What a fantastic experience at Old Sugar Mill Pancake House! We arrived around 10am on a Saturday and were put on the waitlist. It took about 1.5 hours for our name to be called, but it wasn't a problem since we could track our progress via Yelp's waitlist feature and see how many parties were ahead of us. Super convenient! The atmosphere inside is charming and historic. Keep in mind there's no AC, so be prepared if you're visiting in the summer months. Once seated, the all-you-can-eat pancakes were $8.99 per person, and the toppings were $3 each. We shared a chocolate topping, and it was perfect! It was a unique experience making our own pancakes at the table! We ate sooo many pancakes!! They were simple and delicious! We also ordered a side of home fries ($4.95) and biscuits & gravy ($7.95), both of which were amazing. The mimosa for $7 was a nice touch, too! It's great that they have a concession stand outside to order off the rest of the menu (if you don't want to wait for the pancakes). Service was fantastic. Our server checked in on us frequently, and there's an automatic 18% gratuity (which we didn't mind at all). Overall, Old Sugar Mill Pancake House is a must-visit if you're in De Leon Springs.
