We love Crux coffee! The Açaí bowls are incredible! The best in town. And the coffee is always delicious! They do pour over coffee as well- which you don't see in coffee shops much anymore. It's clean, friendly staff, and smells so good right when you walk in! We also appreciate their stance on masks and respect other's views as well. Wear a mask or don't. All the workers have them on. Sad to see other reviews that left a 1 star review for allowing others to make a choice. I don't see this shop putting the community at risk. At this point, you have had the time to get the vaccine if you want it. But this shop is correct in that there are medical exemptions and religious exemptions for mask wearing. Looking for a top of line coffee drink while on the road and Yelp revealed this little gem! I immediately saw that their menu offers a wide selection of premium origins coffees. I love Crux, I may be biased because I go to the college right next to it but allow me to tell you a few things about crux which I feel focuses your mind on what to expect when going to crux. Crux is ran by a small business owner who does not use that as an excuse for why his coffee and beans aren't as good as the biggest names like starbucks or dunkin, or even other local favorites like subculture. Rather, crux has found and operates within its own niche. With many menu options to boast like sweetened lattes and breakfast, excuse me mentioning only their stand out treat (in my eyes), that is, their origins coffee. Origins are beans sourced from around the world, with flavor profiles consistent and linked to the country they originate from. This idea, to me, is quite novel, with over 15 countries to choose from. I personally have found Sumatra as my personal origin and that makes me feel good because I like it so much I can skip out on the additional creamer and sugar. Finally, the staff have been very nice over my four years in the area, and they work hard to keep the area inside clean and a great place to study, work, converse, etc... Nice neighborhood coffee shop. Easy parking friendly staff they pour each cup individually through grinds rather than large that's a brewed coffee which provides unique flavor for each cup. It's right across the street from a college campus so it has a really nice young vibe. read more

I love the feel, but since I hate coffee the menu is a little limited for me. I feel the same about Starbucks. I thought it was cool that they have one origin coffee. The child loves macaroons and was so excited when she saw them. She got the berry smoothie. She loves coffee but I just couldn't load her up with caffeine and send her to camp. That would've such a mean thing to do. I ordered a chocolate hazelnut muffin. We have a thumbs up on the blue macaroon, an ok on the pistachio one. She disliked the smoothie. She had one sip and gave it to me. I tasted it and it was SO strong!! I think they put too much syrup in for the cup. It went into the trash. My muffin was a little on the dry side, but it probably would have been great with coffee. We will probably go back for the macaroons which are $2.75 each so that won't be too often. They try. The inside area is large and clean; the outside area is pleasant when the weather cooperates. The roast their own beans, which is cool. Lots of design going on - the logo and story behind the name is everywhere. Coffee is perfectly fine but not outstanding. I'm told the double chocolate muffin was soft and fresh. I'll come by and try an "Acai" bowl of fruit some time. Kids behind the counter are personable enough, but just kids. It kinda works without completely clicking. So...not bad. read more

Stopped in while in the abacoa area. Many pour over options and now they also have regular coffee as well for those who don't have time to wait. I ordered an iced mocha. It had a great balance of chocolate and coffee flavor. I have to say it is one of the better mochas I have gotten from around town. We didn't order any food but noting looked tempting enough. Extremely disappointed in the service received here. Super easy to order food and drink, but then it rolls down hill from there. Took forever to receive order only to find out that they messed up the order. The crew was thoroughly confused until the lady that took my order confirmed my order was missing a sandwich. Then my stepson joins us for the morning only to have his order messed up. Had to send sandwich back to get remade. Two common sense tips that would make this place more successful. They seem obvious enough... 1. Be open on Sundays. 2. Prepare drinks faster. 3. Get iced coffee (not only cold brew). You're missing half the weekend crowd. People are actually home on Sunday, but can't go in to get a coffee. Starbucks is down the street (and better), if your primary clientele is local to you, stay open. The drinks take forever. No one wants to be late for work because of their coffee. Owner/Manager: watch your staff during a rush. There are always 3-4 people working but only 1 or 2 ever doing anything. Update the processes to streamline your product. (e.g, one person making espresso while another makes the coffee, etc) Idk, go watch them work at Starbucks. Attend to customers at the register faster. This is a recurring problem when I come here. "I'll have an iced coffee." "We only have cold brew, is that ok?" Seriously? This is a coffee shop. It doesn't seem ridiculous to have a wide selection of coffee drinks at a coffee shop. Especially something as basic and easy to prep as iced coffee. I've actually come in in the afternoon and you've not had hot coffee...only pour-over. Again, a coffee shop without coffee. I don't want to wait for a pour-over, the staff here is SLOW enough without having to do a pour-over. Dear business owner, fix the things that give you pause to say "Huh?" Not open on probably the busiest local coffee day. Huh? 8-10 minutes for a cold brew and an espresso shot? Wtf? No hot or iced coffee at a coffee shop (only pour overs and cold brew? Today was our first time in and our experience wasn't like some of the other reviews. The young man taking our order was friendly and helpful; and that's where it stops. The owners were engaged in conversation with one gentleman positioned/blocking the pick up area. We weren't greeted or even smiled at. The coffee, Colombian Excelso was just okay and the espresso was good. The music wasn't loud; nice background sound. It was very clean and commercialized environment. Love supporting local independently owned businesses. They are very friendly and knowledgeable and the coffee is fabulous. The taste is much richer as it is roasted on site. They take special care to make sure the grind is right for the particular way you make coffee at home when you purchase a bag to go. Will be sticking to starbucks for sure...! Disappointing as we live in abacoa making this coffee shop walking distance, and always love a non-chain boutique-y coffee shop, and always love to support small local businesses. But these people are highly un-agreeable. First, they are EXCRUCIATINGLY slow, even when no one else is there. Second, they aren't even open for half of the weekend. I asked to see what type of almond milk they had for my son, and the guy refused to show me the bottle/ box. He wouldn't just give me a small bit on the side, but insisted that I have to have an entire cup of it for $4. They told me they had bottled water when I asked for some filtered water (I was obviously purchasing other items), wouldn't give me a lid for it, so on and so forth. Simply delicious! Had the iced vanilla latte with soy milk and it was amazing! Great atmosphere and delicious coffee. Good place to study. The only bad thing is they have a $5 minimum on their coffee, but most of their drinks are $4.50 so you're forced to get something else unless you have cash.
