When I came in to place my order, the female employee who took my order seemed very unfriendly and had a noticeably unpleasant attitude. I understand that everyone can have a bad day or may be dealing with something in their personal life, so I tried not to take it personally. However, I ended up waiting about 20 minutes for just one small bánh mì. After waiting that long, I finally went up to ask about my order. Only then did the employee hand it to me. Apparently, my order had already been ready for quite some time, but no one bothered to call my number or let me know. Waiting is understandable when a restaurant is busy, but having a completed order sitting there while the customer continues waiting is very frustrating. Combined with the unfriendly attitude and poor customer service, this was a very disappointing experience. Good customer service is not just about making the food--it is also about communicating with customers and treating them with basic courtesy. I really hope the management provides better customer service training moving forward.

Unfortunately, I don't come here as often as I would like due to the distance from home and the added headache that comes with driving in this area- IYKYK!! This establishment has been here at the corner of Story + McLaughin Ave for as long as I can remember and although the business could use a refresh facelift, nothing changes the fact that the food is undeniably FIRE!! Now with that said, I only come here strictly for Thien Huongs thit nuong [vietnamese grilled pork]. The flavors are deliciously untouchable and cannot be replicated. It is smoky, savory, with a hint of sweetness, and 100% tender through and through. Thien Huong is the home of BUY 3 GET 1 FREE, which totally trumps Duc Huong's deal of buying 4 large sandwiches and getting 1 FREE. Service is quick but parking kind of sucks and the custom service is still consistently unfriendly. Personally, I can deal with the grumpy female staff when something so delicious is awaiting. 5/5 stars. Bonus points because the staff isn't stingy with the pickled carrots and daikon. Thien Huong, you's the real MVP!!!

I preferred the pork one because it was substantial, so fresh. All the bread and veggies were fresh. The pork is flavorful adn so delicious! The roti chicken was good too but I had way too many bone pieces/tendon pieces in mine. That was the only downer but everything else was AMAZING. Loved the quantity and quality of the veggies and herbs. So delicious.

RANG Final…read moreThoughts: 4.50/5 Review for Rang. They have weekly matcha pop ups at Rose Tea Lounge. Original location is in Elk Grove, but they are here in San Jose area. Kind of hard to see and find them? given that there aren't really any signs posted outside. I perhaps wouldn't have known about it if my friend didn't tell me about it. Drink: Guava Matcha Einspanner: 4.5/5 This is their matcha with house-made guava puree at the bottom and topped with silky guava foam. Their foam is so nice and creamy. Felt very light and just thick enough. Silky consistency that mixed well with the drink. My friend noted that they make it fairly sweet, so I opted for the 25%. This was still quite sweet for me. Each component is sweet itself, so when you combine it, its mostly just sweet. No tartness to cut any of it. Perhaps the guava has something to do with that. Guava is a sweet fruit in general, so I seemed to expect as much. The matcha itself had a nice color to it. Very vibrant. Light bitterness. Lovely consistency overall. I like each component separately and I like them together when it's fully combined. Strawberry Matcha Einspanner: 4.5/5 This was my friends drink and I also really liked it. Had to try it for my review purposes. Per their Door Dash description, this is their matcha latte with their home-made strawberry puree and topped with velvety strawberry foam. There really wasn't much of a difference with this one and mine besides the fruit. His was slightly more tart than mine, which is something I like. Again, the drink itself leans more on the sweet side, so any sort of tartness would be nice to cut some of that. Matcha color is amazing. Nice and vibrant. Lovely silky consistency. I like the ratio of fruit flavor and matcha. Some places will make it just taste like milk, others have an imbalance of flavors. This one was just right for me. --------- Quality: Ceremonial Matcha and whisked to order We saw them whisk the matcha to order. Not really a display cooking kind of counter, but they do do all of that in the front where the cashiers are. You are able to watch if you so choose. I do like the matcha that they use, so it seems like a high quality one. That or it's because they aren't batching their matcha like other places. I understand that batching doesn't make it lower quality, but something about whisking it fresh is always better. Price: Average Will depend on the drink, but the prices are around $7 to $9. For our drinks, average around $8.25 per drink. Quite a common price range for a cup of matcha. This one was made well, so no complaints here. There was no upcharge for the oatmilk, which is always a plus for us. Service: Whisked matcha fresh No interactions today. We ordered directly on the kiosk and then just waited for our drinks to come out. Something that I like is that they whisk and make the matcha in front of us. Kind of hard to see, given my height and spot that we were standing, but they do whisk it in the front for us. Of note, they use this hand towel or cloth to wipe the bowls. Not sure how sanitation does with that, but I digress. Just an observation for today. Ambiance: Quaint Flower Café Vibes This place is giving very quaint flower café vibes. I would totally work here if I could work from home or if I needed to study. Space is incredibly spacious on the inside contrary to how the outside and plaza area is looking. Little dim lit inside, but that might be from the little lighting that's hitting through the windows given the angle and evening sun. Location/Parking: Small Plaza This place is like a pop-up/collaboration with Rose Tea Lounge. There's really no label for it outside of the storefront, but when you go into the café and on the kiosk, you can directly order from them. Kind of interesting how it works and I probably would have never seen it if my friend didn't bring me here. Location is not the best as it is right in a smaller plaza on the side of Story Road near the 101 freeway. At least they chose an area that is slightly less saturated. Vietnam Town is really close by and they really do have too much going on over there sometimes. Parking lot is also small, but it seems to work well with the smaller plaza size.

3.5 STARS ca…read morebakehouse is a to-go bakery that usually has a really long line on the weekends. i always order for pickup to avoid the line - just keep in mind that there are some items you have to order at least the day before. the bakery is located in very busy vietnam town, so it can be hard to get parking nearby sometimes. they have a really extensive menu with unique items! - egg tart (3.5/5): it had a great sweet and creamy custard, but it was doughy and soft instead of crispy and flaky. i didn't mind the texture too much because the flavor was there - kaya egg tart (4/5): very slight coconut flavor and overall very light. i liked this one more than the regular egg tart because the flavor was unique - banana mochi cake (4/5): this reminded me of a banana nut muffin but with mochi! it had a good fresh banana flavor. i loved the soft, chewy mochi texture, although it was almost too mushy. the nuts were a nice addition - guava mochi cake (4.5/5): one of my favorite items here! it had a tart and sweet guava filling, which balanced out the sweetness of the pastry and icing on top. it was still on the softer end, but i liked this one more than the banana mochi cake - kaya croissant (3/5): i thought the croissant would be soggy because of the filling, but it was actually kind of chewy and dry - maybe overbaked. i loved the yummy kaya filling, and it wasn't too sweet. i actually think it could've used more filling. it was very aromatic! - ube croissant (3.5/5): similar to the kaya croissant but with a sweet and slightly earthy ube filling instead. i enjoyed the filling because i could really taste the ube! like the other one, i thought the croissant was too dry and needed more filling - black sesame choux (0.5/5): probably the worst item i tried. the black sesame wasn't very sweet. there was barely any black sesame flavor, and it had a bit of a bitter aftertaste. also, the choux wasn't crunchy... it was soft and mushy, and it broke at the bottom where the filling was spilling out - durian choux (2.5/5): i loved the filling, which was at the perfect sweetness. it had a strong durian flavor, but the choux pastry itself had similar issues to the black sesame choux - pandan macadamia cookie (3.5/5): it had a very light pandan flavor, which i thought could've been stronger. i really love soft cookies, but this was weirdly soft and fell apart - almost like it wasn't fully baked. the macadamia nuts on top were a nice touch - black sesame cookie (4/5): tasted just like a peanut butter cookie! it had a strong nutty flavor, more like peanut butter than black sesame. my favorite part was the center, which had more of a sesame flavor because of the sesame seeds. just like the other cookie, it was very soft - honeycomb cake (3/5): this had a stronger pandan flavor than the cookie, which was great! i just didn't like the texture as much as other honeycomb cakes because it was less chewy and more mushy - pandan basque cheesecake (4.5/5): the BEST menu item i've tried, and i would come back just to get this. the cheesecake was very creamy and relatively dense, even for basque cheesecake. it had a slight pandan flavor, which could've been stronger, and caramelization on the sides. the green looked so pretty! i'm not really that picky with textures, but overall, everything here is just on the soft and sometimes mushy end, except for the croissants, which are weirdly dry. i actually enjoy a lot of the flavors, so i do see the appeal. i just don't think i would come back often.

Remarkable Sandwiches, at a Reasonable Price!…read more I enjoyed my time at Zanotto's very much. I ordered a customizable sandwich at the deli and grabbed some Marianne's ice cream for dessert. The sandwich portions were incredibly generous, for only 12.99! The sandwiches are so big they could definitely split into two meals, which is even better! They also offer a meal deal where you get chips, a cookie, and a soda for 18.99. The sauces and vegetables on the sandwiches are amazing and flavorful. I thought the pickles and pesto mayonnaise were a remarkable combination. There's an outdoor patio area where you can enjoy your purchases. There's ample shade, and you will have no problem finding a seat. The sandwiches came out promptly. This is definitely a place I'll be coming back to, especially for their dutch crunch bread!
