Kind of hard to see and find them? given that there aren't really any signs posted outside. I perhaps wouldn't have known about it if my friend didn't tell me about it. Drink: Guava Matcha Einspanner: 4.5/5 This is their matcha with house-made guava puree at the bottom and topped with silky guava foam. Their foam is so nice and creamy. Felt very light and just thick enough. Silky consistency that mixed well with the drink. My friend noted that they make it fairly sweet, so I opted for the 25%. This was still quite sweet for me. Each component is sweet itself, so when you combine it, its mostly just sweet. No tartness to cut any of it. Perhaps the guava has something to do with that. Guava is a sweet fruit in general, so I seemed to expect as much. The matcha itself had a nice color to it. Very vibrant. Light bitterness. Lovely consistency overall. I like each component separately and I like them together when it's fully combined. Strawberry Matcha Einspanner: 4.5/5 This was my friends drink and I also really liked it. Had to try it for my review purposes. Per their Door Dash description, this is their matcha latte with their home-made strawberry puree and topped with velvety strawberry foam. There really wasn't much of a difference with this one and mine besides the fruit. His was slightly more tart than mine, which is something I like. Again, the drink itself leans more on the sweet side, so any sort of tartness would be nice to cut some of that. Matcha color is amazing. Nice and vibrant. Lovely silky consistency. I like the ratio of fruit flavor and matcha. Some places will make it just taste like milk, others have an imbalance of flavors. This one was just right for me. --------- Quality: Ceremonial Matcha and whisked to order We saw them whisk the matcha to order. Not really a display cooking kind of counter, but they do do all of that in the front where the cashiers are. You are able to watch if you so choose. I do like the matcha that they use, so it seems like a high quality one. That or it's because they aren't batching their matcha like other places. I understand that batching doesn't make it lower quality, but something about whisking it fresh is always better. Price: Average Will depend on the drink, but the prices are around $7 to $9. For our drinks, average around $8.25 per drink. Quite a common price range for a cup of matcha. This one was made well, so no complaints here. There was no upcharge for the oatmilk, which is always a plus for us. Service: Whisked matcha fresh No interactions today. We ordered directly on the kiosk and then just waited for our drinks to come out. Something that I like is that they whisk and make the matcha in front of us. Kind of hard to see, given my height and spot that we were standing, but they do whisk it in the front for us. Of note, they use this hand towel or cloth to wipe the bowls. Not sure how sanitation does with that, but I digress. Just an observation for today. Ambiance: Quaint Flower Café Vibes This place is giving very quaint flower café vibes. I would totally work here if I could work from home or if I needed to study. Space is incredibly spacious on the inside contrary to how the outside and plaza area is looking. Little dim lit inside, but that might be from the little lighting that's hitting through the windows given the angle and evening sun. Location/Parking: Small Plaza This place is like a pop-up/collaboration with Rose Tea Lounge. There's really no label for it outside of the storefront, but when you go into the café and on the kiosk, you can directly order from them. Kind of interesting how it works and I probably would have never seen it if my friend didn't bring me here. Location is not the best as it is right in a smaller plaza on the side of Story Road near the 101 freeway. At least they chose an area that is slightly less saturated. Vietnam Town is really close by and they really do have too much going on over there sometimes. Parking lot is also small, but it seems to work well with the smaller plaza size. read more

They offer a touch screen in which you can make your order, or you can order through the Toast app, which is what I did. Sign up for membership, and you can get a $5 off coupon for your birthday, which is great, since few people remember my birthday, the Rose Tea Lounge remembered it. There's a kiosk where you can order and they barista was kind enough to deliver our drinks to where we were. At first glance, it's a very stylish spot with free wifi, plenty of seating, and a bathroom, so I decided to set up here to study for a while after work. Everything is very clean, and it's easy to find a table--albeit 90% of the seating is not near an outlet, so I had to rely on the preexisting charge on my laptop. The staff operates mostly in the back, so if you need help with anything it might be a little difficult, but I honestly didn't notice it too much. The drinks I ordered were okay--the puff cream in the Matcha Marble was a little cloying and left the roof of my mouth a little uncomfortably coated, but otherwise the flavor was good and the sweetness level appropriate to what I expected. The Very Grape blended drink was not to my tastes, either. The most unsafisfying part of the experience was the music and lighting. The music is a little loud, which is no problem, but you could also here conflicting music playing from someone's phone or speaker coming from the back, which was a little much. Additionally, the lights seemed synced to the music and would flash occasionally like camera flash, which hurt my eyes and distracted me while I was working. It was a bit straining. I wouldn't recommend sitting down here too long, which is a shame because there is a lot of space inside. There is ample seating but most of the booths were occupied when we arrived so we sat at a table. Club music was being played loudly so working here would not be ideal if you have to present in meetings. The tropical paradise fruit tea would've been better with a topping or two, but in an attempt to cut down on calories consumed I've began getting drinks without toppings. Unfortunately fruit tea without toppings is just not the same, but this was totally my choice and on me. The WiFi worked well. There are some outlets under the booths but none at the tables. I've been to other Rose Tea Lounge locations and I'd say that this one is definitely more club-like than others. Not the ideal place to work remotely by any means, but that's not to say that the drinks are bad or ambiance is poor. If you're looking to chat and catch up with friends, this spot would be a good choice. read more

Visited on 4/19 for the mango sticky rice matcha and was sad to hear they were out of puree to make the drink, but was super excited to see they have a banana matcha and cookie butter matcha! I want to shout out their staff because the customer service is elite here. I asked many questions about the sweetness levels as I am unfortunately a little addicted to sugar and they were super helpful in my sugar level decisions and even let me know they can add sweetener if it's not sweet enough. I ended up doing 75% sweetness for the cookie butter and 50% sweetness for the banana matcha, and eventually asking for a bit more sweetener in the banana matcha before I left. Even at 75% sweetness I felt like I still tasted the matcha and natural banana flavor without it being overwhelmingly sweet. They definitely use fresh bananas in their cream top and it is so insanely delicious, generous with the amount of cream top too. I've been on the hunt for the best banana matcha latte in SJ since my last visit to Academic Coffee didn't feel very satisfactory as that's usually my go to spot. Move over, Academic Coffee - there is a new top dawg banana matcha latte spot in town! I've never had the Jasmine Tea Jelly before and you can tell it's made in house. It's sooo soft and sweet.... might be my new favorite topping? Popcorn Chicken - First time trying the food items here. The popcorn chicken is made of chicken thigh, so its SOO juicy and tender. The medium spicy was still pretty spicy, haha! But, it was so good. It's a great hangout spot with tons of seating, there's also an outdoor seating area. We ordered the dirty boba matcha latte and a summer melon fruit tea, solid 10/10. I have tried their grape and strawberry drinks. Both were delish and quite refreshing. I also ordered the popcorn chicken and their novelty ice creams. Popcorn chicken was crispy, juicy and a good snack option. Sometimes though, it is sold out and there's no way to find out until you're waiting in the long line and then get up to the tablet to order and it says sold out. They have several novelty ice cream options at Rose and I got to try the strawberry and the spicy fried chicken. The strawberry ice cream was good and I would get it again. The spicy fried chicken was very bad and too spicy. My friend liked it but I was not a fan. Both were $5 each. The store is located in a small plaza, so parking can be hard to find on busy days. However, the store itself is very spacious and has an outdoor patio. There are a couple of kiosks to order and drinks usually come out quickly. My go-to drink is the Kyoto milk tea with honey boba. It's a unique flavor that you won't see at many boba shops. I've also tried their other milk teas and they've all been good. The only catch is that the prices are on the higher end. We came to Rose Tea Lounge on July 4th, about 7 minutes after opening, and the place was already packed. We mainly came to get the labubu jelly. I had called the day before, but they had sold out of it within an hour of opening, so I decided not to go. However, my friend managed to get the topping an hour before closing that same day so it seems like they restock throughout the day (wish I had known!). I'm not sure if they opened a bit earlier today but by the time we arrived, most people had already ordered. I ended up getting the last Labubu topping around 2:07 PM. When I checked again about two hours later, it looked like they had restocked. So, if you're hoping to get one, I'd suggest placing an order online and checking when it restocks. We ordered the Coconut Matcha and Mango Cloud drinks which were pretty good. I really liked the cheese foam in the mango drink! The Labubu jelly topping costs about $3.50 extra. I didn't love the jelly but we mainly got it for the photos. PSA the jelly melts quickly in the heat so do not leave it in the car like us! Overall, this new location is pretty spacious and nice. They also have outdoor seating which is going to be so nice for the summer evenings. Praying that it's not too hot though because you know how the heat be in SJ until August-September. I got the peach oolong tea because I just wanted something refreshing and simple. They put them in these pretty cups but I wish we could see inside the cup. The drink tasted watered down to me. Not sure about the other flavors but the peach oolong tea was alright. I would come back to try the other drinks though and it's such a nice place to chill because there's so much seating. They also icecream on their menu! They have a variety of flavors and the popular ice creams that went viral on tik tok. I've seen some at Korean markets before but the ones they have on the menu I can't find in store. They have spicy chicken flavored icecream like what! Came to this location for the Rang Matcha pop up they have. I came in really excited since I have been hearing nothing but great reviews on Tik tok. It looked very promising, they whisk the matcha once at a time in front of you. But unfortunately the matcha did not live up to the hype. It had this weird taste. It tasted bitter and sour. Especially the matcha einspanner. The cream on top had this coconut aftertaste which I disliked. The location itself is very nice though. It's clean and has plenty of comfortable seating. Great if you want to sit down and finish some work. But I would skip out on Rang and maybe try a drink from Rose Tea Lounge. read more

A good focused menu with special drinks, desserts, snacks, fruit tea, etc. I got the strawberry heaven fruit tea, with 50 percent sweet and regular ice and it's perfect for me as I don't like my drinks to be overly sweet. Overall the drinks at default sweetness aren't too sweet. I got 75% for the matcha Kyoto when I should've did regular sweet. Peach cloud 4.5/5 (delish, refreshing, has peach bits and the cream was good) Mango tango 3/5 (very mango-y, I recommend getting fruit bits or toppings) Matcha Kyoto 3/5 (milkier, not much matcha flavor, yummy cream) Very aesthetic and would be a nice, spacious place to hang out or study. There's outdoor seating as well. Drinks took about 15 mins to come out. Probably because workers are new.
