This place definitely doesn't skimp on the portion size. A large here is cut into 2 sandwiches and 1 half is usually most places' regular sized sandwich. Overall it's a pretty decent sandwich, not the biggest fan of the baguette that they use but in a crunch, it works out. read more

Honestly, not worth it. My friend and I ordered through DoorDash - four different banh mi, a lemongrass grilled pork vermicelli plate, and a green Thai milk tea. Unfortunately, the milk tea didn't show up (not sure whose fault that was, but still a bummer). We got one small tofu/egg banh mi, one small lemongrass chicken, one large char siu, and one large grilled pork. Everything came toasted and with veggies, but the two large banh mi didn't have enough veggies, since I asked for them on side - and they completely left out the pickled daikon and carrots. On the yelp menu, it's about a $1 more so in the moment I figured it wasn't a big deal going for it. Again, I love Banh mi oven and I think their sandwiches still taste really good. BUT as a regular customer, i was very disappointed in their crispy pork. It wasn't crispy, it was really chewy. I've had a crispy pork belly sandwich ordered for me before, waited for me for 2 hours and it was still crispy. Not only was banh mi oven's not crispy, but I paid an extra dollar to only receive 3 pieces of pork belly :( if I paid a dollar less for one of the other sandwiches, I'm sure it would've been filled. when I first bit into my sandwich, I still thought it was delicious because I love pate, viet mayo, pickled carrots daikon, cilantro and jalapeños lol butttttt then I realized I didn't bite into any meat. I was waiting for that crispy crunchy satisfaction and juicy tender meat. I opened up my sandwich and saw those 3 sad soggy little pieces of pork belly :,) fairly, I felt disappointed. I will say for the price, it was a pretty good size, as the roll itself is small, but they stuff the roll very full so it ends up being plenty! The char siu pork did not have enough char siu flavor for me and tasted more like a salt and pepper pork. I also wished there was more veggies versus meat, as it was like 90% meat, 10% veggies. This used to be my favorite Banh Mi store but the service has gotten so bad (including the San Fernando location). The food quality and service time has gotten unreliable. You can get a delicious sandwich one day, and a sloppy one the next. Sometimes your order will be ready in less than 10 minutes, and sometimes it'll take 30-40 minutes!!! I just had a banh mi from Lee's sandwiches and was still hungry and decided to try out this place after noticing my roommate who dislikes me was cooking in the apartment kitchen. The banh mi was very flavorful, even more so than the one at Lee's. The vegetables gave additional flavor and the tofu had a nice texture. The food was reasonably priced but would have been nice if it was 5$. The footlong equivalent to subway is better tasting and had a delicious aroma. The service was solid. The food was done quickly and the girl at the front was smiling at me. I liked that, it made me feel welcomed and inviting. There were other people in there so I think it is somewhat popular. As compared to Lee's banh Mi, i think they are about the same in quantity. Lee's tasted more distinct because it was a fried tofu instead of grilled. Reasons to go to Banh Mi Oven: - They have a HUGE menu - so many options to choose from - They have options of regular banh mi and small banh mi, for those with smaller appetites. - Multiple locations So those are the reasons why you would want to go to Banh Mi Oven over other banh mi shops. Despite that, there are better places to go for banh mi. There is a large menu. I can't argue that. So if you want to try something different or want to try one of their interesting banh mi options, you definitely should! I'm boring though so I don't deviate much from my normal orders. They also have different sizes. I do want to point out that if you order a regular, they do cut it into 2 (and thus you have 2 "small" banh mi). Unfortunately the small isn't small enough (for me at least) to be able to order 2 different sandwiches. I was STUFFED after eating my ONE small sandwich. Despite the large menu, we defaulted to the trusty #1 (Cold Cut Combo) and #6 (Grilled Pork). They're pretty quick so although you can now order online, don't worry about ordering in store. I wanted to get meatball also (they were out) but since the small was pretty big, I'm glad I stuck with just one sandwich. My boyfriend could only finish half of his regular size cold cut combo since it was so big. The filling was yummy and the banh mi was stuffed! It was definitely messy to eat (not a bad problem to have necessarily). It was good though. The only thing was we had just had a banh mi the day prior, and found that as good as Banh Mi Oven was, the bread was inferior to the other shop.
