There are lanes for swimming and a wonderful deep area for independent water aerobics. Perhaps the best part of this pool are the members of the community who use it. They are so friendly and welcoming to all-- a place where friends can be made and easy-going conversation makes the time fly! This community pool is a downtown treasure. While I live closer to Mercer, the warmth of the water and the people who swim at Robert A Lee lure me to this lovely place where everybody knows your name.

This is quite possibly my favorite play structure in Iowa City. It lives in the heart of the…read morepedestrian mall and is always crawling with kiddos. Screams of glee and children running around like crazy people are normal around this green Iowa City staple. The structure is right next to the Iowa City Public Library and sits on a soft rubber floor. As a parent, I definitely appreciate that my kids aren't playing in sand or hot asphalt! Park benches surround the jungle gym and always has parents watching their kids but also soaking in the downtown atmosphere. With the addition of Gene's and their patio, I love having a drink as I watch my kiddos play in the summer now that they are a bit more self sufficient -- and when the students are out of town, so it is less crazy busy. The Weather Dance Fountain is right next to the play area, as well. My ONLY knock is lack of shade. Holy cow! Bring your sunscreen, baseball caps and expect to roast on summer days. Park in the Dubuque Street Ramp for a short walk to the park, and first hour free!

We planned a surprise 60th birthday party. The 14 guests were flawlessly handled from Friday…read morethrough Sunday. We were greeted with a warm welcome. The guides were great. The dogs worked hard. The lodge was really cool. The rooms were spacious and each one had its own bathroom. The chief's meals were better than many 5-star restaurants that I have been to. I couldn't think of anything that we would have done differently. The evenings out by the fire pit with 14 family and friends will never be forgotton. We then said "sorry about that sir we'll make sure to speed up and get on the cart path". He then runs my golf ball over, that thing went so far in the dirt I could barely see it. So I said what was that for, in an aggressive tone, and then he says "then get the F*** off my course if you have a problem". Overall, not a good experience. Great course but that Marshall really just ruined everything for us.

This was my first time (and unfortunately last time) playing the current design of the course, and I loved my experience at the home of the Iowa Hawkeyes golf program. While a round here is a bit pricey (~$85 per person for 18 and a cart), it was well worth it.
