There are three reasons this isn't a five star-- 1. I think it is crazy if you commit to a punch pass, you don't get a slightly discounted rate. 10 punches for $50. 2. Re-entry is not allowed. Which, as a parent, I kind of wish it was? My three year old can only last a few hours before needing a break, especially on a super sunny day. 3. The hours are very abbreviated, IMO. Weekdays (11:00 am-8:00 pm) and weekends (12:00 pm-6:00 pm) They don't have Lessons our there all summer long and mornings on hot July days are best spent at the pool! On steamy Iowan summer days flock to this outdoor pool! It's clean, the staff is young but friendly and parking is a nonissue, unlike the City Park across town.

Oh and most importantly, this mythical dream park is for ADULTS ONLY. If you have, consider yourself warned: DO NOT go to Mercer Park. Because oh my gosh, you'll be totally jealous at what the Iowa City kiddos get to play on. Iowa City's largest play area (I'm hard pressed to think of a bigger one) is only two years old and is pure magic. It's got a sensory play center, a net climbing course, a MASSIVE tower with enclosed slide and equipment meant for kiddos ages 2-to-5. There are also shelters, picnic tables, grills, lit baseball/softball fields, tee ball field, tennis courts, a refurbish old fire engine play structure... you name it-- it's got it. Even the indoor aquatic center lives at Mercer, too. There's ample parking and literally kids (and adults?) of all ages will enjoy it. My kids (ages 2 and 4) absolutely love the ginormous tower and crazy four person seesaw. Come check it out!

Nothing has changed about this swimming pool over thirty years except the management…read more I was raised in LaHarpe, IL and took my first swim lessons from my mother (who managed the pool) when I was six months old. I still have family in the area but rarely visit during the pool season. This time was different. I called ahead to see if they have adult swim, and they did from 12pm-1pm. This was before regular pool hours. I was greeted with a smile by the manager and she was excited about her first adult swimmer. I asked "for the day?" and she said "of the season!" I walked into the lockerroom and it was like a blast from the past. Nothing had changed. It was as I remembered it as a kid. Some may think that this would be disappointing, but it was not. For an outdoor pool only open 2 1/2 months a year there is little need for luxury. The pool was clean and empty. I was the only adult swimmer the entire week (except when I brought two friends friday.) The cost for the hour was $1!!!!!!!!! I got five hours of exercise in for $5 for the week. You cannot beat that. I also found out that during regular hours it was only $2 for the day. We decided to stay the last day and play. There is a baby pool, a kiddie pool area, a regulation lap area (3.5ft deep) and then the diving area. The diving area is 12ft deep and still has the low board and the high board. I dove a few times and it was a blast. I cannot remember when the last time I had such fun. I hope that more people will start to attend so that I can be assured a spot to swim outside next season.

"Mom this is the best pool I have ever been to, My expectations were shattered and I had the most gratifying experience I have ever had at an aquatic center" On a more personal note, I can attribute the saving of my marriage to the incredible staff at the pool, the way they were watching my child while he swam rekindled my love for my family as I saw the love the guards had for the other patrons. My child had had always been troubled and I admit that I did do a great job of disciplining him, however the swift responses by the guards when my sweet boy stepped out of line were magnificent and forever changed his attitude towards authority. The only complaint I can ever possibly think of would be the concessions stand lack of soft serve ice-cream and the indoor pools lack of a hot tub, however the pool's temperature is always at an acceptable temperature so that doesn't seem to be an issue. Although the pool does not have a hot tub, the other amenities more than make up for it. The slides had my children in utter elation after their first ride. We had just finished planning out trip to Disney World, but after our trip to the pool our children insisted that they had already been to the happiest place on earth. We immediately cancelled our plane ride and plan on coming back daily. The diving boards were like no other we had ever experienced, and the ropes felt like an excursion through a tropical rainforest. Finally, the bucket. Let me tell you about the bucket. There we were, waiting as the bucket filled with water. As it started to tip, I could feel the fear, joy and excitement coming from my kids' minds. After the many gallons of water rushed over our heads, I actually had become younger. I am convinced the water at this pool comes from the fountain of youth. Another lifechanging experience I had at the pool was when my mother passed out in the parking lot, a lifeguard sprinted over, backflipped over the fence, and immediately, with just their presence, resituated her, and healed her broken hip, she also appeared much younger. The incredible management at the pool is easily seen with their swift response to any and all complaints, even those coming from the Facebook group "North Liberty Moms" Which if I am being honest, paints the picture of the pool and their staff in an unaccreted and unfriendly light. The PH level of the pool is so incredible, I thought I was swimming in filtered drinking water, the water felt refreshing on my skin and took away all my wrinkles. Strangely enough the scar I had had since a child miraculously healed with just two minutes in the water due to the pools incredible healing properties, and the incredible watchful eyes of the lifeguards. I could write a book about all the incredible experience I have had at the pool. however, my kids are already begging to go back so I must leave now to take them, even though it will be a long three-hour drive.

When you have some many adversary white families that don't get monitored when " their children bully and antagonistic to the minority / ethnic children" it only a time when a parent will chastise that child when it's the Rec Mgr. / and attending Lifeguards on duty responsibilities to keep water safety . They doing a great job but they turn away their face to the obvious tension and don't follow through to either monitor that said " children are with a guardian!" And prevent the bullying of children in the pool. We are a sensitive community with diverse communities and we cherish our neighbors and desire our children to continue to play together in harmony.

For $250 your child and 24 of their friends can swim for 90 minutes. Its mostly available on Saturdays in the late afternoon (4pm) or evening (6pm). You swim for 90 minutes then go to a dry area that you're able to decorate to enjoy some good eats, presents and fun. You can make reservations over the phone months in advance. My son raved about the party! Just be warned parking/drop-off can be a bit tricky.
