We all had a great time. One of the owners was present and got us checked in. Super friendly. My team's Game Master, Payton, was awesome. They have 4 escape rooms to choose from with varying levels of difficulty. Not sure how often the themes change, but if you've played all four I'm not sure you'd be a repeat customer. I've only been to one other escape room prior to this, so not a lot to compare the experience to. I'd definitely return to Cryptiq to try some of the other rooms. Clean establishment, aesthetically pleasing. I like that the owners chose some Hawkeye themed colors and decor. A nice activity to have in Iowa City. My group has done most of the…read morerooms in the area and were excited to see another option pop up, but held off for a while because of the pandemic. Very happy that we finally decided to go. We chose to try Parole Denied, a well put together prison break story. While many are an hour in length, this room is slightly longer at 75 minutes. We were impressed by the variety and uniqueness of the puzzles, they kept us engaged and on our toes the whole time. This room required some serious teamwork, and it made it so much more enjoyable when we got out! Everyone was masked up and it didn't detract from any part of the experience. We're already planning a return trip to try another of their rooms.

Never have any of the other rooms had challenges that required skill and aiming, all the other ones I did were just puzzles of mind. I am hyped to go and do the other ones. There is one main item that I think would be nice to have there. The item I would add is to have a small section where candy bars and chips are sold. Unless you are a master at escape rooms do not do this one. I mistakenly booked this one for my first time at an escape room and only found out after we arrived it was their hardest room. We were not able to finish as it turned out there were 20 red herrings in the room, and it kinda ruined our experience. Over all it's a nice place just try and avoid the western room though.

This place is AWESOME! We made a reservation online - was so easy - for 3 adults and 4 pre-teens…read more We picked "TH3 C0D3" room, which was a challenging room - 7.3/10 difficulty rating. It lived up to its rating...it was tough! We had such a blast though!! It was fun to see how we all worked together... some got stressed, some really excelled, some freaked out! It was great! We didn't escape the room - we ran out of time. But, our Game Master, Kyle, was the best. He would give us hints along the way and that helped. We had SUCH a great time that when we were about to leave the kids REALLY wanted to do another round. It is so addicting!! We couldn't agree more! So we stayed and did the "ARIZONA SHOOTOUT" room. It was about the same difficulty rating as the other room... it was at 7.2/10. However, we actually thought this one was easier! Maybe it was because we had learned to work together as a team in the first room? Not sure - but with the help of our Game Master Kyle and working together on strategies as a team - WE ESCAPED just in the nick of time! We got out with only 20 seconds to spare!! It was so exciting! I can't say enough good things about Escapology Cedar Falls. Kyle, our Game Master...and Megan at the Front Desk... were both SO amazing, friendly, and kind. Walked in and was greeted by some phenomenal people working the ticket booth. Their energy was very inviting. The haunt was amazing, very well detailed and a lot of work put into the place. They aren't very tall person friendly but they do put pool noodles on the top of the walkways that people could hit their head on. Absolutely would recommend to others. Heard that the owner is a great guy as well.
