Full disclosure -- I am very biased when it comes to opinions on Brown Deer. I tend to be very…read moreromantic about this course since it is where I fell in love with the game of golf. As a late adopter of the game, I played my first ever round of golf around 2 years ago as a 24 year old at this course, and I have been absolutely addicted to the ruthlessly challenging, yet infinitely rewarding journey that is golf. While Brown Deer isn't the nicest course I have played during my short career, I still love to play 18 here whenever I get the chance. My wife, father-in-law, and I played here last on the final day of the 2025 season. Can't wait to come back in a few weeks!!!

Pretty easy setup for high level amateurs, but very fair. Make sure you're hitting the greens in the right spots, or your score will tally up. Played pretty well and shot 68 (-3), and left a few out there. If you are someone who averages 285+ off the tee, you'll be hitting wedges into a lot of holes. Par 5's play longer than the card says!

This was my first time (and unfortunately last time) playing the current design of the course, and I loved my experience at the home of the Iowa Hawkeyes golf program. While a round here is a bit pricey (~$85 per person for 18 and a cart), it was well worth it. Our family of 16 (ages 7 to retired) was able to reserve 3 lanes together just a few hours ahead. We were all impressed with the food! Definitely a step up from what we were expecting. My father-in-law and I played this course on a beautiful Saturday morning in late fall. The only…read morereason I'm not giving this course a 5/5 star review is because the staff was not prepared for the morning tee times. When we arrived around 8 AM for our 9:10 AM tee time, there was no one in the golf shop, so we walked to the golf facilities near the driving range where there also no staff to be found. We wanted to get loose for the round, so we had to gather range balls ourselves to hit. Eventually, staff arrived around 30ish minutes before we were set to tee off to provide us with a cart and check us in. Once we set off on our round, the course was honestly a little underwhelming. Don't get me wrong - this course is very nice and well-manicured, but the green fees here are by far the most expensive in the area. Given the usual $100 green fee, I was expecting a much more professional and unique experience. If I had to choose whether to play here or Finkbine in Iowa City, I'd definitely choose the latter. Overall, I had a great morning playing a new course, but I was left wanting a little more out of my overall experience at the course. Hopefully, the next time I visit I can confidently give this course a full 5-star review!

I checked the William Hill sports app for the Isle casinos in Iowa and they had moneyline betting available for all 16 games today.
