Sweet little farm in a beautiful place! Good energy people working the farm! Nice selection of interesting pumpkins and squash to choose from!

Took my daughters to pick some strawberries. They loved it. Very nice farm, my daughters enjoyed picking strawberries and seeing the goats and bunnies. My youngest is asking when we can go again.

This place is absolutely magical. I can't believe we hadn't been before. Pumpkins, critters, great music, cool decor. We loved it.

Plenty of rows to work with :)

Went this past Sunday (06-12) at 10:30 am and there were SOO many strawberries! So glad I found this place because so many other farms in the Bay Area are RSVP only OR are out of strawberries!! The strawberries at Crystal Bay Farm were the sweetest and yummiest strawberries ever! My friends and I bought 4lbs worth, but we are definitely coming back for more! $2 entrance fee + $5 per lb Open: Sundays & Wednesdays Instagram: crystalbayfarm We walked to the worker's stand by the entrance to get our boxes, and we paid our fees after the picking (Cash & card is OK). Everyone was tasting their strawberries when I went, so I'm sure it is ok :) Just bring water to risk & don't taste too much. As long as it's red, it should be sweet! (I promise)

Path to the entrance. "check in" at the table on the right. Prices on the whiteboard.

Arrived around 12:40 and there were still tons of strawberries to pick! There were only a few other families picking at the same time. They have a couple sweet dogs on the farm. If you don't have a basket, you can grab one at the entrance. Pay for everything at the end. Pick as many as you want, bring it back to the front table and they will weigh it and include the entrance fee (2$ per person, strawberries are 5$/lb). They accept card! They also sell lemons/avocados other veggies. They had animals on the farm too but we didn't walk over to see them (geese, goats, horses, chickens, etc) Would come back here for the low key vibes, no crowds and supporting their farm!

I love the owner great person and has a very jolly personality

A great place for everyone, they have all organic products and delicious popcorn and exotic pumpkin and squash. They also have live music. The location is so calming and comforting and close to the beach. I love this

"Do you remember the Shire, Mr. Frodo? It'll be spring soon. And the orchards will be in blossom. And the birds will be nesting in the hazel thicket. And they'll be sowing the summer barley in the lower fields... and eating the first of the strawberries with cream. Do you remember the taste of strawberries?"―Sam Gamgee The Return of the King Peter Jackson from J R R Tolkien Happy National Strawberry Day! 2/27/19 Stumbled upon this place on a whim after a day at nearby beach late last August. I got a hankering for some fresh picked strawberries and my usual U-Pick spot was done for the season. So we took a chance and headed here as their website said they still had berries. Arrived and were greeted by a friendly gentleman running the show. There is a $2 entry fee, but I'm not sure if that's per person or per group? Regardless he charged us $2 for all three of us, which seemed more than fair. There was indeed a bevy of strawberries still to pick (but no raspberries), and they were absolutely delicious. Crystal Bay is an all organic farm, and their prices are/were a very fair $4/lb for their organic strawberries ($7/lb raspberries). I also appreciated that the gentleman wasn't all anal about the weight/price thing as he applied the ol' mas o menos factor to the weigh-in process. Overall, pretty small farm compared to what were usually used to but the strawberries are top-notch, the service is terrific and there's tons of flowers and farm animals for cool picture taking. Can't wait for the next picking season (Strawberries May - Aug & Raspberries Jun - July & Sept) as we'll def be back!

Great for strawberry picking. The owner is a delight and the animals are great entertainment for the kiddos. The strawberries were huge this year but the owner cautioned once the sun comes out they will be smaller. Still delicious but smaller. Stop by on a Sunday if you can!

Our stop at Crystal Bay Farms was completely unplanned and last minute. After spending a leisurely three hours at Aptos, we ended up heading towards Watsonville since there was heavy traffic going home. Having never stopped at Watsonville, only driving pass it on the way to Monterey or Carmel, I found that it has a bit of a Jekyl and Hyde personality where one seemed more concrete like while the other is green and lush. Upon arriving to the first part, I remembered that Watsonville grows the best strawberries around and wondered if they had a u-pick option still open. Thanks to trusty Yelp, I came across Crystal Bay Farms that has organic strawberries and found ourselves driving through lush greenery on the way over. Surprisingly there were still strawberries left for picking 30 minutes before closing on a Sunday and we were able to find enough for 6 small baskets even if they were on the smaller side. However, with a per person admission fee, I would recommend going earlier on Saturday morning to have more choices but do check their hours and days open before going because it will most likely decrease as the season goes on and availability becomes limited.

Open Wednesday and Saturday! We went on a Wednesday around 1015am in June and it was awesome! Lots of very yummy strawberries and cute farm animals. Not crowded at all.

Ask the Community - Crystal Bay Farm

Is you farm open for strawberry picking?

Yes! They are open two days a week (currently Wednesdays and Sundays) 10am-2pm. Always best to check the website to be sure but I just went this past weekend (June 26, 2022) and there were a ton of strawberries!

    Do they allow dogs?

Mrs. Larussa went out of her way and provided fresh cut samples of the Honeycrisp! Wow! Delish, sweet, firm. Like my fave IG models. Gonna leave with a bunch of Fujis and Pink Ladies! Had to nab several jars of the fantastic Sage clear honey! Nectar of the gods! Thank God for the birds and the bees! And before headed out we had a mini picnic on the veranda with picturesque views of the Clearview orchard! The apple bread was divine! But the apple juice and frozen popsicle apple juice was the absolute best! Apple juice as God intended! Delectably sweet and refreshing! Braeburn Fuji Gala…read moreGolden Delicious Granny Smith Gravenstein McIntosh Pink Pearl Pippin Red Delicious Why exactly am I naming these apple varieties you ask? Prior to my visit to the Hillview Farm these were the only 10 varieties of apples I could name if someone were to ask. For somebody like me who eats more apple pie and drinks more apple juice than I do eating fresh apples I thought 10 was pretty impressive. Then I met Joe Stabile. Joe and his wife own an 18 acre apple orchard in Watsonville. When they bought the property in the early 1980's 4 varieties of apples were grown at this 450 tree orchard. Joe and his wife now have over 200 varieties of apples on this orchard and nearly 4200 trees! Yup, shows you how little I know about apples! For the Stabiles it's all about custom grafting and creating new varieties of apples. Many of the varieties found in the Hillview Farm orchard are not found anywhere else. Joe, a former IBM engineer who retired in 1992 to become a full time farmer, is a man of great patience. He loves the art of taking different types of apple trees, grafting the branches together and playing the waiting game on how successful the graft will be. Some grafts take years to develop. That doesn't faze Joe though; no matter how long it takes the bottom line is that the apple has to taste good. Overall taste is the deciding factor in deciding whether a custom graft is successful or not. For our recent farm tour the Stabiles went all out and pre-picked three big baskets of delicious Gravensteins, sweet Sansas and tart Pink Pearls for our group to enjoy. Judging by how quickly the fruit in the basket disappeared I'd have to agree with my fellow farm visitors that the Pink Pearls were our favorites for its beautiful color and delicious taste. Joe showed us the heavy machinery that sorts his apples by size. Then he showed us his juicer and talked about his juicing techniques. Joe and his small staff presses 80 to 100 gallons of juice per day. He bottles the juices immediately and stores the fresh pressed, unfiltered juices and juice blends in freezers then sells the product in assorted sizes at local farmers markets. Joe also sells dried apples at the farmers markets. He uses an industrial sized dehydrator and gave us delicious samples of both the Golden Delicious and Fuji varieties to sample. Our group was already in apple heaven when we stepped out into his orchard to look at the fresh fruit trees and examine some of the grafting techniques used. In addition to apples the Stabiles harvest dozens of varieties of pears, plums and persimmons plus other tree grown fruits. The different sizes, shapes and colors of the apples in the Hillview orchard were mind-boggling. I took tons of photos but after awhile they all started to look the same to me. The Stabiles didn't seem to have that problem though. They knew exactly which variety was which and even gave us data on the fruit's characteristics when we asked. True apple geniuses those Stabiles are. After our tour we gave the family some business too buying up fresh pressed apple juice, and homemade apple products such as preserves, syrups, dressings and butters. Hillview Farm products are sold at three local farmers markets. They are at the Vallco Farmers Market in Cupertino on Fridays, the Danville Farmers Market on Saturdays and the Jack London Square Farmers Market in Oakland on Sundays.
