I wouldn't have stopped here unless I had to. Not a huge fan of gas stations that underserve an area. One that is cramped along a busy road that makes it hard to navigate into or out of. That was the case here. Before returning the rental vehicle I had to make sure it was topped off. Out of options before getting to the airport area I had to stop here. This place was a nightmare to get into and out of. The stretch of road leaves little margin of error, if you are not paying attention, you will miss the entrance and could possibly cause an accident. Once on the lot, it's like the worst possible scenario of having to get fuel. It appears all common sense goes out the window here as people forget directionality. Then you have to deal with the ignorant ones that will park their vehicle in such a way that they take up more than one pump. On my visit. I ran into this. I did not care and made my way around and parallel parked. The person taking up the pumps had the audacity to honk at me thinking I was intentionally going to hit their vehicle. Sir, if you weren't thinking about only yourself, you would see a world outside of your bubble. I did not go inside, I just paid at the pump. I finished and said a prayer not to be hit before I got back out on the road. read more

I just moved to Virginia from Maryland, and all I wanted to do was pump gas and adjust my daughter's car seat. She had told me earlier that her seat was loose, so while I was filling my tank, I stopped to fix it for her. The employee on duty watched me the entire time, staring in a way that made me very uncomfortable. She eventually walked over, looked me directly in the face, and said in a very disrespectful tone, "This is not a community center. You're only supposed to pump gas and leave." That comment was completely unnecessary. I wasn't loitering or causing any disturbance -- I was simply ensuring my child's safety. After two exhausting days of moving from Maryland to Virginia, this interaction was both disheartening and hurtful. It's sad to say, but I truly believe if I had looked more "put together" that day, I wouldn't have been spoken to in that way. Unfortunately, this ended up being the worst first gas station experience I've ever had in Virginia. read more

I don't usually review gas stations but this place is one of the worst I have been to in the area. They definitely take advantage of being right by DCA by raising prices--sometimes they are as much 30 cents more a than gas stations that are just a couple of miles up the road in Alexandria. In addition, the staff is so rude. I recently visited and was accosted by a station attendant who told me there were complaints that I was taking too long and I needed to leave. I had not even gotten gas yet! I maybe took a couple of extra minutes because I was driving my husband's car and couldn't figure out how to open the gas tank, but I definitely wasn't there more than two minutes and by the time the attendant came over I was already out of my car and getting my card ready to start pumping. So, I just put a few dollars in my tank since I was on empty and moved on to another station. If you're going to stop here and it's not an emergency consider driving toward Alexandria for another mile and you will find better options. read more

The parking lot here is really tight, but it's really the only option right next to DCA if you want to refuel a rental car right before dropping it off. Definitely check the side that the fuel door arrow points on the center cluster before getting in there with a rental car, or you might be in for a lot of careful turning. Aside from that, relatively modern pumps at okay prices. There aren't any alternatives without driving out of your way. read more

The only pro is that this seems to be the only gas station anywhere near DCA (Reagan National)--which is far from a pro, only one gas station near a major airport. But this Exxon is awkwardly cramped in a small section of an already small block, where God forbid your gas tank is on the *opposite* side of where you were able to get in on, and you had better hope that you're not sandwiched between two people using their pumps, as your ability to exit depends on it. Horrible customer service. I came here to use my Safeway customer benefits, and was going to save $0.70 a gallon. But then the pump had a glitch, reset, and I lost my $0.70 per gallon. With a 30 gallon tank, that would have been $21. The owners of the Exxon could not care less, and told me to call an Exxon customer service number that did not work. Despite this Exxon being close, and convenient, I will never use it again. I recommend no one else do either. read more

I am not usually an Exxon fan but this one is the closest to the airport and therefore it bumps to the top of my queue. And there really aren't many gas stations in this part of Arlington! Very narrow pump area, very little other services. But it's right next to the ramp to DCA. read more

Crystal City Exxon is a gas station in downtown Crystal City (or as Amazon would call it- "National Landing"). There's a small shop that carries all the basic gas station goods and a handful of gas pump stations. The price is a little more steep, but the location is convenient. read more

Cramped. Awkward and narrow lanes to pull into. Would give this zero stars if I could. I never thought it was possible to have strong opinions about a gas station that doesn't have any services beyond just refueling. Boy have things changed after visiting the Crystal City Exxon. The machine wouldn't accept my card and told me to see the attendant. I went to him and he wasn't paying the remotest bit of attention. It took some work for me to get him to notice me. He was entirely unhelpful when I explained what happened, so I went back to my car. I tried multiple times and it finally accepted my card. Then, after only refueling two gallons of gas, it stopped. My tank wasn't nearly full, so I went back to the Attendant. He's behind a thick screen of plastic and Jefferson Davis Highway is loud so I couldn't hear him and I doubt he could hear me, even though I spoke loudly. He told me that I had to prepay. No, actually I didn't have to prepay, something was wrong with the machine. But I'd already been there nearly ten minutes and I had no desire to be late for work because of this so I agreed to prepay. This time, I only got half a gallon of gas before the machine determined that my tank was full. I checked. Still 3/4 of a tank full. I went back to the Attendant and he offered no suggestions, solutions, or apologies. I'd now been at a gas station at least 15 minutes. Finally I decided to just cut my losses, leave, and never return. To summarize: the machines were spontaneously not working. The Attendant didn't care. He was stuck behind a pane of plastic with no opening to speak through on a busy road. 100% idiotic design. read more

I was terrified to come to this gas station after reading some of the horrible reviews so my expectations were rather low. But it is totally fine. I'm not sure what people are expecting. It's a gas station. They sell gas. Pump works fine. I also needed to put air in my tires. Thankfully, they had air pumps with actual directions on it. Super easy. Two stars is incorrect. Maybe -10 This place is tight going in and out. In addition to that if you have a big SUV good luck maneuvering. Someone needs to mandate the entry and exit procedure. This is convenient if you're going southbound (toward Potomac Yard and Old Town Alexandria) on Jefferson Davis Highway (Route 1) off of 395. I found the pump buttons legible (not blurred out by grimy hands), the pump handles comfortable and ergonomic, the squeegee stations well stocked with plenty of soapy water, and the trashcans not bustling with stanky trash. I am not pleased with the prices, but this is a complaint to The Man, rather than to the man behind the counter in the adjacent convenience store. read more

A gas station built like this one, with zero additional services, has exactly one purpose in existing: sell auto fuel. And the employees sitting in the little glass vibe with the sign "cashier" serves one purpose. To take money in exchange for fuel. It should be embarrassing to Exxon that this particular location and its employees fail at this simple task. I attempted to fuel my rental car at this location before returning. First o tried to pay at the pump. The pump's screen just kept displaying: card reader error, pay at register. Ok, no problem... I was happy to pay cash. So then I tried to pay with cash at the lone register. The employee at first refused to acknowledge my presence--her magazine was much more interesting. When she finally acknowledged me, it was to say "pay at pump". Or at least I assume that was what she was saying. There is no means of communication with the customers she was willing to use. All openings and grilles remained closed throughout our entire interaction. I tried to explain the pump was saying to pay with her--AND that I wanted to pay cash. She just kept repeatong "pay at pump". Until I gave up and left. Luckily there is a Shell about 2 min away that was happy to take my cash. The worst part of this is because of the location... The cashier can refuse to do her job, ignore customers, etc and not have a significant enough a loss of sales to drive any corrective action. I will still be writing Exxon corporate with her name, and will be giving my money to the Shell down the street... But I doubt anything will improve. read more

Today, I went and got gas here. After my tank was full and the pump stopped, I go to remove the nozzle only to have the metal piece get stuck and continue to spew gas out all over me. It got on my skin and ruined a new pair of $40 shoes as I can't get the gas smell out. When I went to tell the cashier what happened and that I wanted a refund for the gas since it wasn't my fault they had a faulty nozzle, she got an attitude and said no. She grabbed the manager and he said they have to investigate then get back to me. This has never happened to me in all my years of pumping gas. This is the closest gas station to my house and will gladly go out of my way to find another location with cheaper gas, properly working pumps, and better customer service. read more

This is the only gas station open to the public in all of Pentagon and Crystal City. Unfortunately, it is in a horrendous location. At the very busy corner of Route 1 and 23rd Street, you are limited in how you can get in and out of the gas station. Additionally, the pump lanes are very narrow and if you have a small gas tank, take the middle pump behind someone in an SUV, then someone takes the last pump, boxing you in, you have no choice but just sit there while some dreg of society fills up their 55 gallon Suburban gas tank. Great. Then you are forced to make a right onto Route 1 even if you want to go the other way. When I stop here in the morning for gas, after it being the complete opposite way from I-66, I then have to go even further down Route 1 from my intended direction. How annoying. Oh, also prices tend to be at least 10 cents a gallon higher than everywhere else in Arlington. This station in particular may be responsible for Exxon's windfall profits. It's too bad this is the only choice for gas in this area. I now know why monopolies are bad. read more

This gas station is positioned horribly at the apex of three intersecting roadways. Knuckleheads trying to cut across several lanes of congested traffic just to purchase their overpriced fuel have been the cause of several accidents on the corner of Route 1 and 23rd St. S. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone zip into the gas station's lanes, only to leave their rear bumper hanging precariously into Route 1, effectively blocking the southbound lane of traffic due to their impatience to fuel up, putting their own needs ahead of every other motorist. I always hope some uninsured driver will come along in their beater and remove the rear end of the inconsiderate driver's car, but have yet to see this, much to my chagrin. read more

Don't get gas here. I put my credit card in and started pumping. The clerk turned my pump off and made me come inside to pay. He wouldn't let me get a fill up. This gas station is within spitting distance of National Airport. That is it is there to gouge fraidy cat tourists who were afraid to stop in DC neighborHOODs to get gas. I came to this gas station to put air in my tire and the machine would not work. I put up to $3.00 in the machine trying to figure out what's going on. At this time I realized the machine must just not be working. I went to the associate Kasshun asking him if he can help because the machine didn't seem to be working. He replies "what?" That machine works. I said ok we'll come over to try yourself because myself and my friend tried $3.00 worth of quarters and it is not working. He says "No I am not going over there you can go somewhere else?" At this point I'm totally confused, I am a customer asking for help... I don't understand why it is so hard for Exon to help paying customers. He then throws his hand up and asked for the next person to come up. I then say excuse me are you going to help me here or refund my money, again he says no. I say sir what is the problem I used my money and it didn't work. He then says "move out the line I don't care, go somewhere else." He then begins to stick his middle finger up at my friend and I and tell us to get out of the way. I have never in my life been so insulted and disrespected by an establishment, what type of business is being ran here? Many other customers begin to tell him not to disrespect women in that way. I used to go there because it was very close to my home even though the getting in and out was never easy. I will never go there again though because the people that work there cloned my credit card and passed it along to friends/family at an Exxonmobile in Illinois. I got 3 $100 in-person charges and 1 $96 in-person charge at Exxonmobile stations in Illinois where apparently my card was input manually. The only way for that to happen is for the people who work there to pass it along. This started happening a day after I last put gas there. Good thing I noticed the 3 $100 charges on my present statement and it led me to check previous statements and found the other charge. I had to cancel my card along with all the autopays I had. Pain in the rear. I am going over there over the weekend with the statements, they wont recognize anything but at least it'll stop them from doing it to others, I hope. read more
