I've been taking my 2006 Prius to Metro Motor for a few years, but my recent experiences have been disappointing. In April 2024, I had them replace my 12v battery. It failed this week--less than two years later. Despite their 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, I ended up having to pay for a new battery elsewhere because I was stranded. When I called today to get a quote for separate work, Moe told me that they couldn't provide estimates over the phone (despite being able to do so in the past). As a long-term customer who has spent a significant amount of money here over several jobs since 2021, I expected better transparency and loyalty. It feels like the customer service has shifted since Sean left the shop, and I'll be taking my business to a shop that honors its warranties and values returning clients. read more

Took my 2021 wrangler here for a emissions test and i was concerned about the timing because i didn't have a ride home, but they were more than happy to call me an uber home so i could get back to work in time. I got an oil change and state inspection. Found out my control arms were messed up. Was able to make an appointment very quickly and when I had to reschedule they were kind and flexible. The service didn't take long and I believe they were very honest about the repairs needed. I was sent a video to show damage and it included my plate in it so I knew it was my car. Can't say much on price because I'm not knowledgeable on average rates. But I am extremely pleased with the service and they were very kind and efficient! DO NOT TRUST THIS SHOP. I came in to the shop for a safety inspection a few years ago. They said I needed to replace two brake pads and when I refused service at that time, they aggressively tried to sell me based on very worn out brakes. A different shop a few weeks later told me my brakes were not close to needing a replacement and my vehicle passed inspection. I see a lot of positive reviews for this place and this was back in 2021, so who knows maybe they were desperate for cash with no one driving during the pandemic. I hope management/workers have been replaced since then. Either way, double check their work before you pay these mechanics any money! read more

Ricardo, who was formerly at other Metro Motors locations, should be followed as he is a gem! You will be hard pressed to find a better service provider in an industry that often gets a bad rep. He is a genuine caring soul who helped me originally on something basic - a flat on my Mercedes one random day when I was new to the DC area a few years ago. But with rims and tires on an out of warranty luxury car, it can get real costly quickly. His whole team went above and beyond to try and make you feel special. Over the years, I've probably been in about five times for service (and then a bunch of other times just for gas). In Boston, where I was from, that kind of treatment and personal attention rarely happened unless you were someone special. Sometimes I'd get preferential treatment once people realized who I was, but that can sometimes feel cheap (like why not treat everyone that way anyway?). But Ricardo never knew what I did or who I was (I am a rapper and a professor with multiple albums etc., and I travel alot in my car for local and regional shows), that is until very recently when I was tracking him down as I was willing to follow someone like that wherever they are - even after I learned he switched business locations. Ricardo goes out of his way to save you money with honest suggestions and simple money saving fixes everytime you come in, which always pays off in the long run and builds customer loyalty. I'd even go out of my way just to say what's up and stop in for gas whenever I could to support the shop. I don't think we do this enough, especially in these times when it's critical. Recently, I consulted him on an issue for my same car, and it literally helped to save me thousands. He is never rattled and is always calm and cool about everything and will go out if his way to take care of everyone. This seemed to be true about the owner as well who I had met; seems to be the philosophy they all try to enbrace. If so, it is clear he is exactly what ownership is shooting for. He's literally the kind of person you'll tell your family about when you meet him, it's like you've known him for years and he tries to recall all the details to let you know it goes beyond just your car. My wife reminded me to call him for my most recent car issue, she said "why dont you call your friend Ricardo you are always raving about for advice?" I did exactly that and that call arguably was worth thousands. I barely ever write reviews unless the service is like this; my first job out of college was as a rent a car branch manager - so I really get what great customer service looks like and that is why I just wrote a book report for a review on my cell phone after putting my son to sleep while lying down on the floor! I moved around the area a few months ago and always get gas here because of the prices. Yesterday I inquired about getting a nail patch, just my luck I had one in my tire. Immediately, Ricardo stopped what he was doing to come take a look. He didn't have me drive my car into the covered garage which I enjoyed because of the current COVID pandemic. He said it would be a quick fix, which it was and in addition he filled the air in my tires AND patched the nail in my spare tire (yes, I know two nails.. I work for a construction company). He was extremely pleasant, COVID cautious and just overall a great experience. Not only will I continue to get gas here, but I will start looking into any other maintenance that my car needs! Terrible place to take your car to get fixed. I spoke with the manager Sean earlier in the night and he said bring the car in the morning and we will check it. I explained to him the situation that my car doesn't run and I have to tow it and he said no problem. I told him the car make and model as well. After I had paid for towing to his garage he said I can't fix your car without checking it, refused me service after I was in the shop in person with my 10 month old daughter. He gave me me no explanation, just stated he would not do business with me and told me to take my car somewhere else. I then had to pay to have my car towed again to another shop. read more

So I recently replaced my water pump on my older American car. This shop just changed owners and is a few blocks from my house in the Lyon Park area. I took a chance on them and my overcall experience was positive. My repair was a bit worse than I anticipated but they worked with me to get it all working again and I've had the car back a few days now and it's definitely fixed. My take on these folks - "good choice" in this area. Anthony the shop manager kept me informed - was willing to text me images - and communicated so well it increased my confidence. I was made aware of costs and why and the feedback and their attitude helped a lot. They seemed to really try to give me a good experience and ensure my car was definitely fixed right. I took my car to a Ford dealer for a break warning problem. I picked the car up 2 days latter and didn't notice that my right side mirror was broken/shattered in a number of places. I ordered a replacement mirror but had a problem installing it. I took the car to my local gas station in DC. They told me they were busy and drop it off that night and pick it up the next day. My son had used Metro Motor/Lyon Park Liberty at 2717 North Pershing Drive Arlington, VA for repairs and had good results. So I decided to drive there. Told the mechanic, named Mo of the issue. He asked if I could bring it back in the morning as they were backed up. Asked him if he could take a look now, I would get some lunch and come back. He said ok come back in 1 hour. Had lunch came back and the side mirror was replaced and worked perfectly. I asked Mo "what do I owe you"? NO CHARGE SAID MO He gave me a fist bump. I said thank you and left. Hard to find a good mechanic but in my experience they're always super friendly, super helpful, and super reasonably priced. They take the time to explain everything that's going on with the car, why it's happening, and why they're proposing what they're proposing to fix it. I usually like to work on my car myself but I can't anymore so I was very pleasantly surprised to find a mechanic I can really trust. Whether it is related to a recent ownership change or a simple management problem of the new business, I am NOT coming back. My car has been serviced there for years under previous ownership, so when I brought in my car about month and a half ago, I assumed that they'd handle it with equal professionalism and value their "acquired customers". This was not the case, as I believe that they not only had trouble diagnosing it and replacing the correct part, but shifting responsibility onto the customer for something that happened under their new ownership which in the end put the customer at fault and cost the customer a car. I serviced my car for the first time with them in September 2018 or so, where it was towed to their place as it won't start. They initially told me that it was the starter, which needed to be replaced, but when I told them that they've already replaced that starter last year, they called me back and said that it was actually a car's CPU unit! Trusting the correct diagnosis, we replaced my car's CPU with the used one, but still very pricey, and when I picked up the car, one of the mechanics told me that it'll last me for another couple of years and that the engine light would go on and off but because the CPU is used, I shouldn't pay attention to it. The engine light was on the next day, but I kept on driving. Three weeks later my car couldn't start again with the same symptoms. This time, they told me that they are going to replace the starter, it will be all covered, especially since it is a "return visit" moreover, the starter was replaced a year ago. They then called to correct themselves after finding out that the starter wasn't under the warranty anymore and charge me for it almost 500 bucks, (nor did they offer to cover the labor). I was also told that if I wanted to get rid of the engine lights, there was another $1100 fee to fix, else - I won't pass emission inspection approaching in 3 months. With the statement that they'd love to help me and make me happy, they offered to cover towing of $75. This is all on top of the over $800 CPU replacement which did not solve the problem. The question arises - why was my CPU replaced? Upon a very lengthy conversation with the current main mechanic in charge, Jason, I was told over and over again that since he wasn't there when my CPU was replaced, nor was the main existing mechanic they acquired from earlier owners who was on a vacation that time, my CPU replacement was handled by a technician who no longer works with them, they don't know whether it was a right move to replace the CPU and will not stand behind that; however, since my car started that time, that was mostly the right decision. Jason also told me that I should have never had the engine lights on and I shouldn't have been told that it was OK, but again, since the guy no longer worked there, it was not their problem. I was also scolded for not mentioning my engine lights being on the first time the car went into their shop in September. To my explanation that I didn't think about it, relied on their knowledge, since this was a given every time my car had an issue, that it also had a history of not starting and randomly restarting, that their logs should have had this and that i'm saying it now, if it even helped clarify the situation - this all was ignored. Who knows whether I replaced a perfectly working CPU with a faulty one. I decided to pick up the car and go elsewhere, but was recommended to speak to the new owner, as the guy in the office at that point seemed concerned. I left the car, but then after calling them back was told to try to get a hold of the owner when he stops by the office, which I did on multiple occasions, but failed. They won't give me his cell phone number or ask him to call me back. I picked up my car, paid for that starter and done with them. I am honeslty in a disbelief, of how "nicely" I was sent away with explanations "wasn't me" but we'd love to help you and make you happy after you pay us a total of 2K for car repairs within the two months period. Obviously, they don't care about their returning customers and are having issues setting up a qualified professional team. read more
