In fact, we have used been using PetSmart, different locations, for probably over 20 years without incident. UNTIL YESTERDAY!!! Well, maybe I should say his previous visit as well. So, on the previous visit, around Dec. Zumba's underside was washed but apparently was not conditioned. Zumba is a Shih Tzu, so he is very short. After his last groom, he walked across the grass which was damp and immediately started to matt. I thought they probably did not condition his underside - no big deal. Anyway, he went to PetSmart yesterday for grooming. He had some matting issues under his coat and also on his underside, where he had immediately started matting from the previous visit. The groomer called and said it would cost extra - no problem. 4 hours later the dog still was not groomed!!! He had been washed and partially cut. The dog had apparently been sitting and waiting while they groomed other dogs even though Zumba had an appointment and also paid for additional time. When my sister picked the dog up, the dog looked like he was 96 y.o. and had been drunk for days. The hair on his head is chopped up, his face is chopped up, his beard is uneven, his feet look like he has boots on, hair is hanging down from his genitalia - lots of it. They told my sister they will finish him in the morning (today), now today they are saying Thursday. How they could even let a dog leave their establishment looking the way this dog looks is beyond me. They offered no refund, no discount, charged extra, said they would finish the job today, and now rescheduled to Thursday. This is the worse customer service and grooming service I have ever experienced. I do not recommend this particular PetSmart Grooming service at all. If I could give them a lower score I would. My dog looks so bad, that if I saw him on the street, I would not he was my dog.

I wasted over $1,000 to unknowingly abuse my dog through Off Leash K9. I sought help because my dog…read morewas reactive toward other dogs, loud vehicles, and people. I was desperate to help my dog and myself and Off Leash K9 had good reviews. What these folks didn't tell me was that my dog's reactivity, what I thought was outright aggression, was actually fear - that she was scared of all of these things and trying to protect herself from them. So with the use of the e-collar (really just a shock collar let's be honest), I punished her every time she showed a fear response at Off Leash K-9's direction. This definitely changed her behavior, but rather than helping her feel more comfortable with the things that scared her, we instead punished her for being afraid and taught her to hide her fear responses. I wish I had looked at the science behind dog behavior, because I now know research shows that punishment through things like e-collars, buzz collars, spray bottles, etc. are incredibly counterproductive to changing dog behavior long term and they seriously traumatize the dog. I'm so very grateful to have met a Fear Free trainer who taught me about positive reinforcement. It has improved my relationship with my dog immensely and it has ultimately lead to the sustained behavior change I was looking for. Please do not waste your money on abusive, ignorant training through Off Leash K9.

I…read morewas her third home (which I still can't comprehend why) and she had pretty bad general anxiety and separation anxiety. Given her size and anxiety, I knew I would need some help. I was given a business card for East Coast Academy of Dog Training. The best recommendation ever. Initially, Paige was unmanageable on a leash. Her fear and anxiety caused her to be hyper reactive to wildlife, sounds, sudden movements. She would not respond to commands and she pulled me wherever she wanted to go. The first time Rob walked into my house, the whole energy changed. Rob has the most wonderful voice. He is soft-spoken. He never raises his voice. He has endless patience. Paige loved him from the first moment. For the first several visits, we worked inside on basic behaviors - come, sit, wait, etc. Paige caught on pretty quickly. So did I! It was as much about me learning as it was Paige. Rob always leaves detailed notes covering the lessons of the day. And consistent practice between visits is paramount. Then we began working on leash training for walks. Rob has given me valuable tools to make walks a positive experience for both Paige and I. We are still a work in progress and, weather permitting, I make a point of walking every day. Paige is so much happier and so much calmer. After 5 visits, I kept telling Rob that I needed more training. In his wonderful, calm way, he said that I didn't need more. That I had the tools to be successful and that he was only a phone call away if I needed to talk through anything. Rob never pushes additional visits if he feels you are ready to fly on your own. He has decades of experience. Go check out his website for additional detail. I appreciate Rob so much. He has made both Paige and I so much more confident. I cannot recommend Rob Hirsch and East Coast Academy of Dog Training enough!!!!

The out door play area is smaller then the kitchen in my condo BUT more alarming then that is that the staff were unable to answer 2 basic questions: 1) Whats your emergency protocol? 2) What vet do you use for emergency injury situations? The answer to my questions was to hand me a business card for Meg, the general manager and explain that the individual doesn't work the front desk normally. My problem is that no matter what your role is within the facility you should know the answers to these basic safety/emergency questions. At the very least you should know where to find the answers and provide them when asked. No, I never messaged Meg. I'd never trust my child to a day care who's staff was uneducated on emergency and safety protocol so why should I trust my puppy to a staff who can not answer these simple questions. Before we jump on the "they just opened, give them time to find their footing" bandwagon let me again say, the individual didn't even bother to look up policy or anything just handed me a card and said that I should email her. I will say this: It appeared to be a secure location, I had to be buzzed in and there was another 2 doors between me and the rooms the dogs are in. It was clean and appeard organized. All this to say - if you like to be the guinea pig then sure, try them out but if your pup is you kiddo then I caution you to look elsewhere.
