Oh rats! I was hoping this place'd be better…read more.. Driven past this on roadtrips many a time; decided to actually stop in and check it out on the most recent trip. I'd been drawn in by the silly rodent statue on top of the building, because I like touristy shops. Upon entry I immediately realized the place was kind of dingy and gross. We got there with about half an hour 'til closing and this fact certainly showed in the affect of all the employees. I was curious about sampling some of the cheeses, but all of the employees were apparently too busy getting ready to close to help us, so we didn't get to try any of the many varieties. It was a bit odd to me to have potential customers there in the store during business hours, and the employees are steadfastly ignoring our presence to turn off the lights and such. We took the hint, quickly used the restroom, made a small courtesy purchase, then left. Speaking of the restroom, the floors were really sticky. Eww. Noticed they had lots of signage up that they were hiring. Yeah, they should probably hire someone who gives AF, if I'm being really honest, cuz it seems to me this place probably was great at one point but has fallen into disrepair. I got a couple pieces of taffy and hubby got a bag of nuts. We could tell from the taste/texture that these items had been sitting for awhile. I'm not a proponent of wasting food, but if your store can't turn products around before they're expired, I recommend perhaps just not selling those things and stick to cheese... Anyway, reckon we'll try out another of the many cheese shops in Wisconsin next time we drive through. There's certainly plenty to choose from!

Recently we were at a party where the hostess had purchased a dozen or more cheeses from Cheesers -…read morethey were all great. So when we were heading to Stoughton we knew we needed to stop at this place. The store was hopping on a late Saturday morning. We were there for the cheese but the front part of the store was filled with wine and liquor (they also have a tasting room upstairs - apparently it is a do-it-yourself tasting). They also have gifts and gourmet foods. The cheese counter probably had over 100 selections. There were many tempting cheeses. We selected a smoked blue cheese that we are looking forward to try. Given the wide selection we will definitely stop here again when searching for interesting cheeses even though it is a 25 minute drive.

Since it was a Monday, most of the shops and restaurants were closed, but Cheesers was open -- and they had Babcock (UW-Madison) ice cream. It's a cute little shop with lots of gourmet food items, wines, and gifts. We got a couple of cones. Union Utopia for me, served in generous portions on a sugar cone. So good on a warm day. The owner was super nice and told us a little about the downtown area, especially the Opera House that offers concerts. Definitely seems like a place we'd love to come back to.

My mom and I were pretty excited to visit a cheese bar, as big fans of great cheese and wines and…read morecraft cocktails. We were not disappointed. But call, the hours on Yelp are not the bar hours, which are extended. The space was formerly a little cheese shop for Clock Shadow. It was pretty basic. The atmosphere has really ascended. There is a small retail section and cheese case for shoppers. The bulk of the small space has been transformed with moody, chic wallpaper, a classic old school bar and tables. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. Service is very good and not intrusive, but you will learn a thing about what you're experiencing. The pairings are eye opening. The cheese is exquisite. Although the cheese itself is on the expensive side, the flights are reasonable for what you get. The pours on the wine are fair and there is enough cheese to share. Dried fruit and corn are added as a pallet cleanser. Loved it! Everyone needs a cheese bar with drink pairings. The wine and beer menu as suggested pairings for cheese as well. They also have some interesting craft cocktails. Street parking can be an issue, so maybe prepare for a little walk during popular times.

This wonderful cheese deli and bar is a fantastic stop if you are visiting Lake Geneva. My partner…read moreand I stopped by on a weekend afternoon and we were SO pleasantly surprised by the experience. The shop is split into two parts: the deli counter where you can sample and buy cheeses, and the cafe/bar where you can sit down and order cheeseboards and wine flights. We started in the deli and the young blonde woman behind the counter (I'm sorry, I didn't catch her name, but she was incredible) gave us such good recommendations. The Luna and the shallot herb cheese were to die for! The Luna won 3rd place internationally in a cheese contest, and you'll see why when you taste it. So complex and nuanced, with little crunchy crystals of salty goodness from the year and a half it spends aging. We then went to the cafe part, which has a good number of tables, and ordered a couple cheese plates. Again, our girl delivered--she made our cheese plates so that the accompaniments were all different and so we could try as many crackers and side dishes as possible. So thoughtful! The price was also very reasonable. Would not hesitate to come back here again. Fantastic service! And try the Luna!
