The food was good. The conch fritters were so good. 8 big fritters freshly fried were piping hot. The fried shrimp was lightly breaded and very tasty. The fried okra was perfect, very light breading and very tender. The green beans were cooked with the right amount of bacon. All the food came out nice and hot. I have to give a shout out to our server Amaya, The Houston Girl. She was so friendly and attentive. We ordered our drinks, appetizer and meal at the same time. The drinks came right away. The conch fritters came out a bit later. We had plenty of time to enjoy our fritters before our meal was served. Everything was timed perfectly. I was craving seafood while driving cross country and found this great little spot just off I-10 near Tallahassee. Everyone was super friendly and the food was great! My waitress Stephanie, recommended a great combo of grilled fish&shrimp with blackened scallops. It was on point! To completely fill me this was accompanied by some tasty cheese grits and fried corn on the cob. I am leaving quite satisfied and happy for the kind company. Very expensive considering what you're actually getting. Basically it's a ripoff. I paid over $30 for lunch and I doubt there was more than 8 ounces of actual seafood on my plate. This place was meh. I came here on one of the last days in town and I ordered for takeout. I ended up getting the following: 2 Tails- This dish included two broiled lobster tails that came with a side of fried shrimp. The lobster was good and it came with some butter. The fried shrimp was mediocre. It also came with some hush puppies which was okay. Choose Any Three- This dish was an option of any three choices. I got their fried scallop, fried clam strips, and crab cakes. The fried scallop didn't taste fresh and were bland. The fried clam strips were very chewy. The crab cakes was bland and didn't have much flavor. This also came with fries and I got coleslaw. The fries was very soggy. Not sure if its because I got it to go. The coleslaw was not memorable. Key Lime Pie- This was my least favorite because the ratio of cream to crust. It had too much cream and barely any crust. It didn't taste like key lime and was mostly just all bland cream. This was honestly such a surprise! I haven't had Crystal River in at least a decade or more and I don't think I've ever had it here in Tallahassee. I came on a Monday afternoon and it was pretty full in terms of patrons. Hannah was our server and she was sweet and attentive. My blackened snapper was served on a bed of rice and I had green beans and a baked potato as my sides. They also come with two hush puppies. Everything was truly delicious. Pretty much everything about my experience was average. Not bad. But not great. The restaurant could use a deep cleaning. The service was very friendly. My husband got the fish and chicken plate, with okra and coleslaw. I got the popcorn chicken plate with corn and okra. Everything needed seasoning. Absolutely one of my favorite seafood restaurants in the area. I don't the manager's name but he's been there forever and boy does this guy hustle and serve up some awesome fried shrimp. Service is always great and the sides are excellent (some of the best cheese grits anywhere). I always get the fried shrimp and they always come out hot, lightly battered and delicious! The seafood dip starts things off and always goes fast. But my favorite meal here flies under the radar. The two tail lobster dinner comes with two nice sized tails, a dozen fried shrimp and two sides. Price is seasonal but is always an incredible value and absolutely delicious! This is souther style seafood. Think meat and 3, but with fish, seafood and gator tail. I am all about how things are handled when things go wrong. I wanted grilled grouper and received fried. I'm allergic to wheat. I told the server. Perhaps I failed to order it grilled. No matter, she whisked away the fried fish and said they would redo as grilled. Perfect response! Went to Crystal River for lunch; we don't go very often due to the location; but when we do go, the seafood is never a disappointment. It took what seemed like longer than usual to bring out our order; however, our server was very nice. We had the coconut shrimp and seafood dip as appetizers; they were delicious! The lunch specials are reasonably priced and the portions are spot on. I always have more than enough to take home for leftovers! If you like delicious food in small-hole-in-the-wall restaurants, this will not disappoint! We ate from the lunch menu. My husband had fish & cheesy grits. I'm not a grits fan--but they were delicious! He would probably not order the corn on the cob again. It was ok. The fries were good/average. I had fried shrimp, Cole slaw (it was the creamy variety, which i prefer--it was good!) and fried okra (i dipped in ranch). I would normally do grilled shrimp as the healthier version, but this was kind of a "90% of everything is fried, so go with the flow place". The batter was flavorful, not overpowering--you could still taste the shrimp and they were cooked perfectly, albeit smaller than i'd expected. The biggest surprise to me were the hushpuppies. I'm not a fan of hushpuppies. I've never had any I liked. I've never wanted to spend the calories on fried, dry cornmeal. But these were SO good! Not too dry and the batter was so good! I happily spent my calories for the day on delicious fried food! Waitress was sweet southern charm and juggled many customers with ease. My only complaint was that she didn't tell me there was a 30 shrimp special for the day when I ordered the lunch shrimp. In retrospect it was probably a good thing as the lunch shrimp (maybe 15?) filled me up perfectly without being stuffed. We didn't use the restrooms--so no comment there. While it was run down and a bit shabby--it was clean as far as I could tell (and isn't that part of the definition of a "hole-in-the-wall"??) One review had commented on the tartar sauce and cocktail sauce being left in bottles on the table...on our table they were cold. As long as they are being changed out regularly with new cold bottles, I don't see that as an issue. We will definitely come back next time we are traveling through! read more

We had not been here in awhile since The Other Seineyard opened up down the street and became our go to local seafood restaurant. We used to go here a lot for our seafood meals. It is part of of an area seafood chain that includes St. John's Seafood restaurants as well. This site was a fast food joint in an earlier life so the dining area is not that large and is mostly comfortable booth seating. We have always had good service here and the food usually comes out fairly quickly. Prices are reasonable for this type of restaurant. The menu has a lot of choices (see photos of the menu that I posted) and leans heavily on fried seafood. Their food is tasty and well prepared. The sides are good including the cheese grits and cole slaw and my wife likes that applesauce is one of their side options since she seldom wants one of the usual second sides that are available. read more

I've driven past this restaurant for so many years and this is my first time actually sitting down and eating. To be honest I did not have high expectations when coming here until the food came. Jeffrey was our server and he was probably the best server that I have ever had in my whole restaurant experience. He made the job seem so fun and easy and he was so quick about getting your drinks and your food out he was very respectful and kind and answered all of our questions with a smile on his face. We all tipped him very well because he was definitely worth it. The restaurant served seafood burgers breakfast and a few other things so I was a bit confused when coming here because I thought it was just a seafood restaurant and I'm not a huge fan of seafood. I ordered the Fish and grits with baked beans and extra grits and even though I didn't get the baked beans the food was still amazing and I would definitely go back with a group of people. The hush puppies were so good and to be honest I did not expect them to be as good even the food I did not expect it to be as good as it was but it truly amazed me. I will definitely be coming back here probably taking some of my friends and family hasn't been here before just so that they can experience it and have the very same experience that I had and hopefully when I do go back I could get Jeffrey again. read more

Traveling from NOLA to Orlando craving seafood so we stopped in for a quick bite. Yelp reviews told of good food so we took a shot. We ordered the Seafood Platter for one but shared it. We opted for baked potato and Cole Slaw as sides. Cole Slaw arrived to our table with 2 minutes of ordering, the platter approximately 2.5 minutes later. Fresh, hot and perfectly fried in a light batter. The crab cake was surprisingly delicious and the oysters were excellent. Hush puppies were delicious. 1 star rating is being too generous, Not good at all. Sorry but I am NOT sorry at all. As a THIRD party auditor... NO! The seafood tasted sour! I had the salmon to be exact. Tartar sauce at room temp, dirty bussers and servers, dingy decor. Honestly, I've had better at Captain D's or Long John Silvers. And I'm extremely fit, so I wouldn't DARE eat at those places. My point is that, we were from out of town and looking for a delicious seafood restaurant....this one is NOT IT!!! Do better!
