Had a great time eating at New Orleans Seafood today. I tried the seafood gumbo and crawfish, and they were fantastic--well-seasoned and packed with flavor. The business is local, owned and run by Chef Chris, who's not only a talented chef but also a great guy to chat with. We had an awesome conversation, and he shared that he tries to source as many local ingredients as possible, like blue crab and mullet fish from local fishermen and pies from a local baker. He's all about supporting other local businesses in Tallahassee, or "Big Country," as he calls it. Chef Chris even gave me a taste of his Louisiana ribs, which he smokes with Creole seasoning. One word: "Amazing." Tallahassee you have a gem.

"Compliment or Condemn" time!!! I decided to wait til' I gave this eatery at least two visits before I reviewed it because it's a New Orleans spot and I HAVE to be sure before complimenting or condemning a Louisiana establishment. So.......let's get to it....... I've been in Tallahassee for almost 20 years and there hasn't been one place that brings AUTHENTIC Cajun and/or Creole cuisine to the Capital City. I won't get into a long dissertation about what all the others do wrong but I will say this: New Orleans Seafood legitimately beats every last one of them. What they get right: The gumbo and red beans and rice are good. They taste like what I could get back home. The po-boys are literally the best I've had out here. Even though that's not saying much because every other one I've had in Tally has been trash, I was PLEASANTLY surprised nonetheless. What they could improve on: Everything I just gave them props on. lol While the gumbo and red beans are good, they're tourist good AKA good enough for those who don't know better. In Louisiana, the locals go to the spots where the food tastes like somebody's Grandmother made it. You know.....the Granny with the plastic on the furniture and a large television on the floor with another TV on top. I'm also used to bigger po-boys that contain immeasurable amounts of shrimp. Lastly, the fried catfish had a weird taste and was diminutive compared to what the Bayou has spoiled me on. All in all, New Orleans Seafood is very solid. If you aren't truly familiar with how we do it then you'll think it's the best thing smoking and there's not a THING wrong with that. If I had people coming from outta town to visit me and I didn't feel like cooking that REAL swamp food, this is where I'd take 'em. Final verdict: Compliment

I have done a review of this place previously, but wanted to do another, specifically to plug their fried turkey wings! Definitely worth trying to park in the tight space of this plaza, lol! :o) Ordered the catfish strips and red beans and rice as well; all delicious and all very reasonably priced; of note, they sell frozen items that you wouldn't find at your neighborhood grocery store (such as shrimp sausage, alligator meat, alligator sausage, crawfish sausage); one of my favorite Friday evening pick up meals!

They are most definitely a taste of New Orleans. I've enjoyed the gumbo, etouffe, a crawfish and shrimp boil and the frozen crawfish for my own etouffe, all very good! My favorite? The boil! I love the garlic, spiced sauce--SO delish. My crawfish tasted fresh, I know they personally go to a specific shop to get them in LA, they are so worth it. I've ordered twice and my trays are always hot. What I would say is be sure to tell them "I want sauce/butter," my second tray was lacking...but I'll be back .

If you're not careful, you will drive right past this gem. I was curious because the owners and employees or Asian but they've lived in New Orleans for a very long time. I've been here so many times and I've had the Crawfish, gumbo, etouffee, frog legs, Turkey, wings, shrimp Po boy, fish shrimp and fries... would you look at that... my mouth is watering now. What keeps me coming back is the crawfish, they are so good and the best I've had. The spice level is perfect! I'm actually torn between their gumbo and their etouffee, they both make me extremely happy and warm inside. Everything is good and I go so much that the cashiers know me by name. Now you, yes you reading this, go get yourself known at New Orleans Seafood

Really impressed with their local New Orleans cuisine so far and looking forward to trying more! We stopped in recently to grab a few po-boys with some gumbo and etouffee for a take-out dinner with friends. My shrimp po-boy was delicious, served on some fresh crusty french bread. The gumbo was meaty and with enough fat in it to give it enough flavor, while the etouffee was heavenly. We stopped in to put our order in instead of calling ahead, which made it take only slightly longer to get our food (maybe 15 mins). The restaurant itself is pretty bare bones (as is to be expected of a take-out place), but you can check out the frozen items while you wait. Overall, we're looking forward to trying out more, but so far so good! Glad to have a more authentic seafood place in town outside of the markets!

We ordered a couple po-boys (both shrimp and catfish) fully dressed, seafood gumbo, and shrimp and crawfish etouffee, a pound of boiled crawfish, and a side of fries. The po-boys were excellent. I preferred the catfish, but everyone else liked the shrimp the best. Either way, definitely get them fully dressed. The seafood gumbo was great too! It's a dark roux gumbo with sausage, chicken, shrimp, and crawfish. The chicken was really good in it - and I usually think of chicken as the weakest gumbo meat, but it's great here! The etouffee was killer. I'm so happy to have great etouffee near me. The boiled crawfish were really garlicky and flavorful. They gave them to us in a few layers of plastic grocery bags, which is the most Louisiana thing I could imagine, but you may want to put them in a bowl or something to pick through 'em and toss 'em back in the bag. The fries weren't great, but the rest of the food was. I'd definitely be back here for a po-boy and either the gumbo or etouffee. I now don't know which one I like better (as I keep grabbing one more bite of each). I guess I'll have to get both again.

Wow! This is the real deal. One bite and I way immediately transported to the French Quarter. New Orleans Seafood is an unassuming store in a strip mall that only does take out. But don't let any of that stop you. Head on in and look up at a menu that focuses on shrimp, oysters, catfish and, when in season, crawfish. You can get the fish on a traditional Po Boy sandwich, at part of a platter (including various combos of fish) or all by themselves. They also sell gumbo, etouffe and red beans and rice. We decided to try a bunch of things for our first visit: Shrimp Po Boy, fried oyster platter, gumbo and etouffe. First bite of the Po Boy and I way in heaven. The bread is brought in from New Orleans, the huge quantity of shrimp were perfectly fried, and the sandwich was "dressed" with mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickles (trust me, your want it dressed "all the way"). It was simply a perfect sandwich. The fried oysters were cooked well, although I'd prefer the oysters and accompanying fries a little crispier. The gumbo was fantastic. It was full of amazing ingredients, including some fantastic sausage. And it had a little heat: these guys don't shy away from seasoning, which is a very good thing IMHO. The etouffe, a combination of shrimp and crawfish in a creamy sauce, was also outstanding. This is my new go-to place for fried fish. And I'm be dreaming about that Po Boy until I return.

Food is excellent and the service is very southern not like the rudeness you get from northerners and west coasters.

The portions were good and the food was fresh and very tasty. What also made my experience so great was the service by Katy M. who was at the register around 11:30 am. She has the perfect demeanor for someone in the service industry. She also appears to be a great employee. I watched as she left the register to ask customers if everything was OK and to clean off the recently empty tables. As the restaurant became busy, she was still perfectly delightful. If I had a restaurant I would have tried to steal her away. I will definitely be back, probably a few times a week.
