This place is beyond terrible. My fiancé booked a tent site and the space with atrocious. The camp sites are small and on top of each other. We went to go to the store after we checked in, a man in a golf cart came to get aggressive with us and asked us for our parking pass. We showed it and he told us that we drove in too fast and that he would make us leave. I told him that's not a problem. He informed me he was the owner and to "pack our sh*t and get the f*ck out." To which my fiancé replied, we already did, and i said i wouldn't stay in this dump anyways. We then told him we are going to stay elsewhere, he became enraged and started swearing at us and threatening us. We told him again we are leaving for good and to keep our money. He then said we aren't allowed to leave and the we drove off and he tried to side ram us with his golf cart, and ultimately tried to make me hit the golf cart. I avoided him and proceeded to get away from his psychotic behavior. I headed for the exit where he was now standing in the middle of the roadway. He tried to block the exit and jumped in front of our vehicle. He ultimately lunged at it fists up, and dented the side of our van. We then had to file with the sheriffs office about the incident. Please do not stay at this campground! We had an incident with the new owners of three years. It concerned our reservation. When I called in advance to book the campsite the owner took our payment. There was no mention from her of the rules and cancellation policies. Upon arrival, she stated that I could get a credit for my last night if I left early as I had a family issue at home and was thinking of leaving a night early. Later, on the morning I decided to leave early, she refused to give me a credit. She was very condescending, standoffish and unreasonable. She would not even let me speak to explain the situation. I was trying to be polite. I had called from my cell phone after my husband had tried to talk to her in the office with no luck. She was rude to him also. A few minutes later, her husband (owner) was at our RV door, pounding aggressively and yelling at us to open the door. He proceeded to "Kick us out of the Campground" because I called his wife a bad word at the end of our phone conversation (she had pushed me to far). He was swearing at us to get out now or he would call the cops on us for calling her a bad word, have us arrested and have our RV towed away. We immediately packed up and left. No refund, shower or dumping of sewage all of which we had paid for in advance. This was all early in the morning in advance of checkout time. I also want to mention that the campsite she gave us upon arrival already had a tenant occupying it. My husband spoke to her about this and she did not believe him until he told her the tenant's tag had the same campsite number as our tag. Finally, she agreed to move us to a new campsite. I had originally requested a site away from lights, which she agreed too, but she put us in the middle of the campground very close to the bathroom lights both times. I also asked for the cheapest campsite which would be electric and she claimed they were all booked. However, the entire weekend the electric sites on the perimeter of the campground remained vacant. Everyone was crowded in the middle of the campground on the more expensive water and electric campsites. Also, the rules and regulations are something to take into consideration. For example, they will not even let you move a picnic table. There are strict rules on visitors and extra fees. The rules for children are worth reviewing. A bit excessive. The campsites and roads are very tight and we could hear our neighbor's conversations from within our closed RV. People were also playing music and watching TV outdoors past quiet hours. The bathrooms were mediocre and there was only one for the entire campground. The campground is also located in NOT the best area. There are also many seasonal campers here and many of these campsites were neglected in appearance. These owners should not be running this business. If they do not like you for some reason they will willingly throw you out and keep your money. PLEASE BEWARE! Spend your hard earned money somewhere else. read more

Very nice campground. We were close to everything. (Tofts Dairy, downtown Sandusky, Dining, Miller Ferry) most 15 min drive. Very quiet and clean. You can tell that they take pride in the property. Only reason I rated this campground a "4" is because: no pool, no weekend activities, and needs a fenced in dog park. We had a nice peaceful weekend. Enjoyed all the mature trees. Was not a parking lot like so many other campgrounds these days. Staff/owners are friendly and helpful. read more

Clean little campground only 20 minutes to Miller ferry. We have stayed here before and I like the place because it is quieter than most campgrounds. One of the staff drives through the grounds every 2 hours or so to keep eyes open. Everyone is nice here and the showers have lots of hot water. The camp store offers up all the necessary items that may have been forgotten and some unique items too. A game room garage has ping pong, air hockey, and some other video games. Not all worked properly, but it does offer up a diversion. Mosquitoes seem to like it here in the morning and evening right before dark. On line reservations are available and checking in here was simple, with only a hang tag for your car and they give you a map. Free WiFi was decent and convenient even at our campsite. read more

The good - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The price - we were just staying the night as we were traveling so the price for a primitive tent site was far better than a hotel or Airbnb The not so good- Bugs were persistent but the smoke from the fire seemed to keep them at bay. The bathrooms were pretty far (compared to other campsites) from the tent area. The bad - NOISE!!!! If you are looking for a quiet getaway go somewhere else. The campground is right on a heavily traveled roadway and seemed to be on a major ATV trail as well. The ATV's were racing up and down the trail as well as just sitting and reving their engines. Around 8pm someone started shooting a gun VERY CLOSE to the campground. This continued for quite some time. At around 5am some hunting dogs that I assume live on the adjoining property began incessantly howling to the point we packed up and left immediately. Overall - we weren't camping for an extended time so this was ok for the price and our purpose. Given the same circumstances, we would not stay here again and would gladly pay more for a reduction in the noise. read more

Stayed here for 3 nights in a shady 50amp site. Owners were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again. They have a store, laundry and a gem mine for the kids. You can get ice here as well just in case you forget it. read more

This campsite is SUPER reasonable and we were very pleased with our stay! We are pretty low maintenance folks so we weren't looking for anything fancy - we were looking to "camp" minus the sweating our butts off and we got just that. Our Cabin was just what we needed. We brought our own bedding, we brought groceries to cook-out and we had a microwave to nuke some frozen breakfast waffles for the kids and a little mini-fridge. The ONLY thing that really would have been awesome would have been a little shelf in the cabin (even just a cheap plastic one with 3 or 4 shelves) for all of the bags we brought. We stayed 4 nights and it was myself, my husband and our 2 children under the age of 4. We had 3 bags of clothes alone not to mention all the needs of young kids. There was a playground and my kids made a friend the first night so we sat around and drank a few beers with the other couple and got to meet some people and converse while the kids played. You don't get that very often at a hotel - which I loved! Past campers had even left charcoal and wood up at the covered picnic table area so we didn't end up having to buy any which was sweet. There was a game room but with our kids being younger, we didn't spend any time there but it had some teenaged and pre-teen kids hanging out playing ping-pong and having a good time so, that was cool! We are platinum pass holders at Worlds of Fun in KC so, all in all, with the money we saved on the camping vs. hotels and not having to pay the 3 days we went to Cedar Point and grilling out and eating breakfast at the cabin it made for a super affordable family vacation. It was about a 20-25 minute drive to Cedar Point but it was nice to see a little bit of the rural outskirts of Sandusky on the way and was close to Marble Head Lighthouse as well so we checked that out as well. read more

Would have been a 2 based on current shape but we can tell it is getting better by the day. New owners took over a few months ago and are working hard to make this a GREAT campground. I bet in a year or 2 it will be a 4 or 5 star place. The site are mostly grass and somewhat level but we arrived after a big rainstorm ad it was fairly muddy. We are in a Class A motorhome and it sunk a few inches but that was ok. The bathrooms / shower floors were kind of dirty bu due to the weather I am not sure that could have been avoided... They had a nice Roasted Corn Roast on Saturday night and pancake breakfast on Sunday. We would stay there again . read more

We recently spent four days at crystal rocks campground and were pleasantly surprised how well-maintained and clean there's a game room and playground and planned activities such as hayride and movie night. The cabins are new and spacious with microwave small fridge. This campground is well run and a pleasant location close to Cedar point and Sandusky Bay read more

The campground is very well taken care of. The staff is very friendly. Even the bathrooms aren't that bad. However, the sites are on top of one another. I'm used to camping in Pennsylvania where the state parks and even privately owned campgrounds have very large, spacious campsites. I understand that it was a holiday weekend but even when we got in on Thursday the campers that were already there were parked very close to one another. So close that I saw a few who were unable to open their awnings. Not to mention the whole right side of the campground is right next to a road. If you are tent camping it's hard to get any sleep with the vehicles driving by who seem to think it's funny to rev their engines in passing. I know the campground has no control over this part but it was just a little annoying. We came for a bachelorette party weekend and pretty much used the campground as somewhere cheap to stay while we were going to Cedar Point and Put In Bay. It definitely served it's purpose and I would stay there again if I was planning to go back to these places. Edit: After being harassed by the owner on Facebook for leaving anything less than a 5 star review I can say without hesitation that I will never come back to this campground and I'll make sure none of my family or friends do either. Nice campground with fun things for the kids. Very nice staff & great location. We had a horrible problem with mosquitos and sand fleas. We came with a group of friends and we are all covered in sand flea bites from our thighs down. If it weren't for that, we would have no complaints. I love to find the good in anything. From a not-so-perfect movie to a new restaurant that isn't quite getting it. But staying here at Crystal Rock Campground brings nothing but expletives to mind. My friends and I went on the off chance that it might be a nice place to relax for a birthday weekend. In fact, family members had reserved nearly the rest of the cabins for the following night. So for an April weekend, we were giving pretty good income to the owners. But the owners themselves were two shifty, strange men who lurked near our site suspiciously and were actually seen in the wooded area behind our dingy shack cabins. When they were finally seemingly out of earshot we of course discussed how strange the behavior was. The next thing we know, one of the owners is at our site, angry and calling us everything from white trash to curse words. I get being a little nervous of 20-somethings camping out and the possibility that partying may occur. But by this time we were sitting around a fire, sipping sodas and wine coolers. There as no danger except for that of belligerent employees with feelings hurt. Will never ever stay here again and absolutely do not recommend it. read more

If you would like to get West Nile or the Zika Virus I would highly recommend this campground. If you enjoy being eaten alive by a variety of angry bugs while trying to enjoy a night of camping then this is the place for you! My husband and I had a truly awful camping experience here in June. We are driving across the country from CA and pulled into the campground at about 9:30PM. Our neighbors were extremely inconsiderate, blasting music and being loud until well past midnight, and they kept screaming at their Boxer to come back because they didn't have him on a leash. He was constantly misbehaving and their yelling was making our two (leashed) big dogs anxious. We politely asked the dogs owner three times to leash his dog and he literally laughed at us. Seriously within twenty minutes of this guy turning off his music, someone else in a big truck sped into the campground and started blasting music again, and this goes on for another hour. Then I'm guessing they ran out of beer, so they drive away still blaring music and running over a trash can in the process, dumping the contents all over the road. If that wasn't bad enough, they stop and threw their own trash - including a water bottle of what looked like urine - in the road and drove away. Thankfully we left super early while everyone was still passed out. Do not bring your family or friends here. You could not pay us to stay here again. The mess was disgusting, the campers were terrible and we regret coming here. Where was the camp host?! read more

The staff was really helpful, the bathrooms were clean, and the grounds were well kept. I would call this more of an RV campground than a tent campground. For tent camping it's a square of grass without much privacy (no trees, shrubs, and natural outdoors around each campsite). For that reason I don't know that I'd go back but it was nice enough to pass through. read more

Let's start with the positive. The owners seem like nice people. Now then, the negatives. The sites are SUPER small with no room at all for parking. The sites are so close together that you can barely drive through the campground while dodging cars, people, tents, etc. The bathrooms? Yuck. Cleaning more than once a day is a necessity. Number of campers per site? Creates a population density greater than NYC. Maybe on a regular summer weekend this campground is ok but I would not stay here on a holiday weekend. Campground was not that good Infact for being a strait shot from a world famouse themepark I was expecting a heck of alot more from this place. The showers where clean and bathrroms where clean but the cabins where a bunch of 2 by 4s nailed together infact some looked like a home depot storage shed hooked up to electrical with a door. If you go do not go expecting a hell of alot to do this is not your five star crampground verey boring for kids find another spot if possable. read more
