Cottages have nice decks that face the lake

My family has stayed here on two separate trips, both times in the lakeside cabins. We really enjoy the close proximity to Cedar Point's resort gate. Lighthouse Point guests are allowed early access into Cedar Point, one hour before the public is allowed in. All of the cabins face Lake Erie, and have nice decks. It is very enjoyable to sit on the deck and watch the sunrise or sunset. You will see everything from small sailboats to huge barges, and also a variety of birds and other wildlife. There are parking spaces within several feet of each cabin. Parking is free during your stay. You can drive closer to the resort gate for entry into Cedar Point, or leave your car at the cabin and walk. Shuttle busses also run all day and until a few hours after CP closes. These busses are free, and they take you anywhere on the peninsula. You can ride to the front gate, to the marina, and other places. Light housekeeping is done daily.

    Broken bathroom door

We stayed in one of the deluxe cabins with some friends this summer. For $600/night, I would expect a cabin that: - Isn't falling apart - Isn't infested with bugs Don't get me wrong, I love Cedar Point, and staying in the park is a great way to maximize time spent in the area. But this was just unacceptable for the high price point. Stay in the breakers instead.

This was our first time staying here. I have always been partial to Hotel Breakers, but I couldn't get a reservation there this weekend. The Lighthouse Point cottages are very nice. The landscaping is great with the sea grass and trees. The deck is really nice since it's right on the lake. The only drawbacks I see are the location, the pool area, and the lack of restaurants. It's further to walk than the Breakers. The pool is nowhere near as nice as the beach and pool areas at the Breakers. There are no restaurants at Lighthouse Point. If you have a lot of toiletries, there is no counter space in the bathroom in the cottage. I find that a major drawback. I wouldn't say it's a bad place, but compared to the Breakers, I wouldn't want to stay there again.

Love this campground. Patio sites by the water are amazing. Great views, super clean and an easy walk over to both parks.

Living room area with two futons

On our recent trip to Cedar Point we stayed at Lighthouse Point which was the next best thing to what I call fake camping. We had a quaint cabin which slept 8-10 people comfortably. There was a full sized bed in a separate private room, two large futons that were quite uncomfortable as the mattress pads on both were old and worn but slept three teens on each. There's a small loft that was great for smaller children to sleep in sleeping bags also (my smaller boys (12 & 13) loved it. Small kitchenette with dorm size fridge, microwave and coffee pot was perfect for our needs here. The bathroom was extremely small but functional. There was a picnic table and charcoal grill in front of each cabin which was nice to grill brats, burgers and hot dogs. The cabin has the scent of cedar but the smell isn't bad once you either open the windows or turn the air conditioning on. The wife and I enjoyed our stay and so did our boys but the girls were tuff critics. I would certainly go again without teenage girls.

    Bathroom

The campground itself is ok. The bathrooms are repulsive and the pool is filled with bugs. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned at all the whole day. Bugs in the shower dead bugs on the floor everything was just gross.

Cottage 15 LightHouse point. July 19-22, 2021. Terrible accommodations. This cottage should never been available to the public!

Dust and gunk built up behind the toilet

This place was disgusting ! We came in and the smell of old clothes that were sitting in the washing machine hit us in the face! When we went to the bathroom it smelled so bad of urine, so I decided to mix some soap and water in the sink and try to clean the floor. It was so disgusting ! The towel I used is pictured and is black from just the small bathroom floor. When I took my socks and shoes off and so did my kids to get comfy and my son said " mom look at my feet" they were black! And I mean black! Like we had been outside walking in mud but we had only been in the cabin for 2 hours , unpacking and getting comfy. That's the rag I used to wash my sons feet off. So I had to mop all the floors because they were so gross. Not to mention all the mold in the bathroom shower ! And the smell of old stale clothes was coming from the shower curtain! It was so horrible we took it off and used our beach towel as the shower curtain ! As if that wasnt enough , the bugs and spiders everywhere in the cottage was terrible! The dust and dirt beside the toilet and cabinets was insane and looked like it hasn't been cleaned In years. I would much rather have stayed at a hotel than this cottage for the price! It was so gross in here. I do not recommend. The microwave is dirty and smells like burnt popcorn or it's going bad , one or the other. We had one working remote and when I asked for batteries at the check in desk, they told me they would make a note and have them replaced when they cleaned next, which didn't help me as I was here for 3 days ! Every single window was unlocked in our cottage ! Be careful ! That's how thief's work around here !

Loved being on the lake and not far from parks. Quiet and charming and better than a camp site.

I've been going to Cedar Point for 30 years, never would I have considered staying at a KOA in all…read morethe years. We probably could've stayed in the cabins and still pay way less than any hotels around town. I could not believe how close this was to CP. We literally turn out of the KOA and was at the light where the giant sign is in less than 60 seconds. The grounds were clean and our spot was very centrally located and it has a paved patio, a gliding bench, built it fire-pit, table with chairs and umbrella. We were easily able to come back to the campsite in the middle of our trip to eat lunch then go back instead of paying $20 for hot dog and fries, which was another big plus. I was also super impressed with the amenities. It has a pickleball court, which I've never seen before but definitely worth noting. Because it's one of their Halloween weekends, they had trick or treating, a mini carnival games thing that sells food and include games like tire toss where you're tossing heads into the tires, etc. At night, after it got dark, they literally set up a haunted house, which apparently was pretty awesome. I stayed back to watch the dogs, but I could definitely hear screams and clowns banging on some metal barrels and made it pretty legit. Being October, their 2 pools were obviously done, but there were 2 pools! We're definitely staying there again when we go back.

With being KOA workers we know what the standards are for a KOA cabin. Without doubt they…read moredelivered!! First thing I checked was the grill and it was clean. The cabin was spotless and all the linens were there. We had a great stay and the office staff was friendly every time we went in there. I took off 1 star because of the pool. They said it was heated but it was cold. I asked what they heat it to and they said 72 degrees. That's 5 degrees below the recommend swimming pool temps. The kids couldn't swim to long till they were too cold.

I was skeptical because the photos really didn't do this place justice. However - after a couple of phone calls and a couple of FB messenger exchanges, I really felt the warmth and hospitality that this place offered. They answered all of my rookie questions and told us we would really enjoy it. We ended up in one of the wood cabins and proceeded to call our adventure "glamping" because there was a full bed, 2 bunk beds, a dining table w/2 chairs, ceiling fan/light, air conditioning unit, a microwave and college dorm size fridge and outside a fire pit, a charcoal grill (like the ones you see at national parks) and a picnic table. The folks at the front desk were very friendly and so accommodating that they "escorted" us to our camp site.... literally across the driveway and 25 steps away (lol). There were a few other campers and lots of parked RVs towards the back of the camp ground. We were near the dog run so we saw lots of cute pets and nice pet owners. We even met another camping family who offered and gave us a couple starter logs so we didn't have to buy the bucket of wood for the couple of days we were there. Such a nice community! The pool was our fav spot as it was clean, low key with lots of bright and colorful big sun umbrellas and ice cream and hamburger and hot dogs if you wanted to purchase them. The second day we were up early and the staff was kind enough to let us in the pool before it technically open. We had a little burn incident with tiny hands on a hot marshmallow stick and they gave us a first aid ice pack even though we were ready to buy a bag of ice. The only reason I didn't give them a full 5 stars was because the full bed was not very comfortable and bathrooms looked like it could use an update (comparing bathrooms to a previous experience with Cub Scouts @Bert Adams). The beds are a foam type which for the full size bed it was very thick and became too soft over time. The bunk beds were a thinner type foam mattress and it was just fine. Overall the cabin was very clean - no surprise critter visitors. A couple of tips - opt for the gate card ($10 refundable deposit) - it's well worth not calling every time you return to the site. If it's a short stay, go to Walmart (5 min away) and get the fire starter log. On local experiences - Put In Bay is fun - go for the Perry's Cave, we were told by locals. Cedarlane sells the mining bags - probably save a few dollars buying it here and have it in the car with you. If you want to do the African safari adventure, go to Groupon to get your tickets.... it's fun like a drive through petting zoo but nothing extravagant so get coupons or discounted tickets. All in all I would highly recommend and we would do it again! Thanks Cedarlane for a great first time rv Park experience!

We called ahead a few days and asked about the pool and then made reservations to stop on our way back from Lake Leelanau, MI. We let them know we would be arriving late and were told it wouldn't be a problem. When we arrived we had to knock on the door of the house for several minutes until a lady in her nightgown (it was still daylight out) answered. She checked us in, took my payment, gave us our gate key and we went to our spot. This is more of a trailer park than a campground, there are more large seasonal trailers here than campers. Spots are no frills, ours was pretty much a small yard big enough to park the truck and camper with water. No shade, no nothing. We could live with it due to the pools. However, when we got the kids in their swimsuits and went over to the pools...they were all closed. I found that this was deceptive since when we placed the reservation we told the lady on the phone we were choosing them because of their heated pool for the kids. She took our reservation fee and never bothered to tell us the pool closed shortly after Labor Day. She knew that it would be closed when we got there but didn't bother telling us. I went to the office to complain and was met with indifference. I went and packed up my camper and kids and on my way out demanded my money back which they refused. Great customer service eh? In the end I got my money back because I called my credit card company and issued a chargeback. I hope they got a fee for it on top the chargeback for wasting my time and gas. You're better off staying at East Harbor State Park Campground which is nearby. Even though the sites are primitive, there's a ton of things for kids to do and it has beautiful beaches that don't close down and staff that will take care of you.
