Checked out 2 other camp sites before choosing turtle creek. The reason we chose turtle creek is for a few reasons. The primitive camping is not smack dab right in the middle of campers and rvs like the other 2 were and turtle creek was much cleaner then the others and turtle creek was CHEAPER then the other two. Turtle creek has both flushing and non flushing toilets...both VERY clean and updated paint. They also have a washer and dryer to use along with a few fish cleaning station. The campers were quite after 10 like posted and long term campers were friendly to day campers. It is a pet friendly camp site as well. Very nice camp ground with friendly helpful staff. We slept on the ground in sleeping bags. There were a lot of people making noise until about 12:30am, playing music, singing, talking and yelling. The showers were not great but fine for a campground. I went to bed around 2am when everything had died down. Around 7am, some banging started like there might be a shooting range nearby. In the morning, I explored the camping area and got some exercise. So much better than a hotel gym! I ran around, shot some hoops, and bounced on their "jumping pillow" which was exactly what I needed before a day of driving. And it was so much cheaper than a hotel room.

The laundry and shower facilities were spotlessly clean, a testament to the high standards of maintenance upheld by the staff. Speaking of the staff, they were exceptional. From the maintenance crew to the friendly faces at reception, everyone went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and safe environment. The grounds were beautifully maintained, creating a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation. Safety was a top priority here, which was reassuring. As a dog owner, I appreciated how dog-friendly the camp was, with ample space for walking and playing with pets. This is a work in progress, so you'll see the staff doing daily maintenance and upgrades. One of the standout moments was when I faced a medical emergency during my stay. After being released from the hospital, the owner and staff were incredibly supportive and accommodating, making sure my recovery period was as smooth as possible. I don't know why though, this is the first time I had this happen, lol. Anyways, the area I stayed in is across the lake from the flat campground... in the woody area. Overall, I had a good experience. It is quiet and peaceful here. There are other guests staying here as well, but everyone is respectful. Electricity and water are included except for sewer. They do a run once a week with a honey wagon with a fee of 8 bucks. Oh well. Another thing is that there is a rail road next to the woody area and multiple trains go by day and night. I guess you can get used to it, lol. It was a good place to stay at though. The staff is super accommodating and helpful. I would definitively recommend this campground.

The parks residents are living in broken down RVs, some of which are falling apart at the seams. There is no sewer and the dump station was overflowing into the surrounding grass. The cost is $40 and cash only. It's not worth even close to that. I bet the IRS would be interested in all that cash for tax purposes. I encourage anyone thinking about stopping to pass this place and go to another.

Point Pelee is on the smaller end of national parks, but it is well maintained and a wonderful…read moreplace to visit. It isn't too crowded which makes it so much more enjoyable. It is very bike-friendly, but don't forget to check the hours for bike rentals if that's what you plan on doing. There is a tram/shuttle that takes you to the very tip from the visitor's center but the path is bikeable/walkable as well. Parking is adequate and there are a number of well marked trails and boardwalks here to explore. One full day was all I needed here.
