Our room 9 had the sweetest, all-around views from the multiple windows both in our corner room & in the bathroom of all the greenery, flowers & lawns. Although breakfast is no longer offered as part of the room rate, we were "grandfathered in" by the super amenable, welcoming head chef, who, in large part, is the engine behind the hotel's managing group, because our room had been booked when the breakfast plan was still in existence. Our breakfasts were presented beautifully & by servers who were super friendly & engaging, as is the rest of the staff here. The pool had not yet been filled for the summer, so we enjoyed sunning on the pool deck, the sweet sauna, walks to the lake down below the property, played shuffleboard, billiards in the way-downstairs which has stone walls, low ceilings, a wine closet, board games & game table, as well as darts. The first floor library is cozy, filled with couches, upholstered chairs, books, coloring books & colored pencils & the in-house restaurant offers 3 meals a day, either in the beautifully outfitted & sunny dining room or on the back patio, alongside a rain barrel, herb garden, smoke house, fire pit & the grassy lawns. The owners & the hotel's hospitality group are working on upgrading & updating the facilities & its offerings & we applaud them for their efforts & plans. We are glad that we could fully enjoy this welcoming, beautiful old stone home & its equally welcoming staff. AND, we thank the head chef for the bottle of Prosecco that he gifted us! P.S. There was a cloying smell permeating the building that did not dissipate despite open windows all night (in 27° weather). The furniture is shabby and uncomfortable. There are klieg lights alongside every window upstairs, so you can't sleep. It really is right on 209 and they know it's noisy because they said they offer their guests earplugs! (Which they never actually did.) The only bright spot were the linens, which were actually quite nice. More than all that, the owners are unavailable and really (really - believe the other reviews) don't care. They are not reachable and Chef Marc is very nice but can't do anything for you. We had to leave, not because it was hell to be there, but because of a sudden family medical emergency, and they refused to even refund us down to their 3-night minimum. We had paid in advance for 8 nights - and just the previous day, so it wasn't like anyone else would have booked it. We understood that they would want their minimum stay and cleaning fee. But they didn't refund us one penny. They are really unfeeling, uncaring people. Avoid this place!!!

Pros: front desk and lobby staff is really friendly and helpful, just a block away from downtown Rhinebeck that has great shops and restaurants, facility is beautiful and clean. Room was spacious and had great attention to detail. The cons: the aqua terrace is very small and there are absolutely not enough loungers for everyone. Minimal seating all around. The bar service at the aqua terrace is mediocre. There was one server (perhaps understaffed that day) and we were ignored every time they came out to the terrace. Other guests were served, except us. Finally went up to the window and ordered cocktails, which were apparently canned drinks poured into a glass for $46, and they were terrible. Went to Willow for lunch the following morning, apparently it opens at 11:30, the entire place was empty, but it took them over 15 minutes to seat us. Weird, considering it was empty. Food was good, but had to rush at that point. Something with the food and beverage service was just off the entire time. We spent over $1,000 in food, drinks, and spa services (plus the actual room) - and was expecting a smoother experience.

I was told by the hostess that the "manager" said no i would have to order a full breakfast in order to sit outside. Note: Not a single person was sitting outside. very strange managerial approach to hospitality. (I did end up sitting out there after offering to just order something, the hostess relented.) ?? so odd. but other than this, the hotel and entire staff, including front desk, housekeeping, restaurant, drivers of the shuttle to train, and spa, (other than the "manager") are very nice and the customer service is outstanding. One other note, they should let the front door valets wear a more modern uniform (currently a long sleeve shirt, tie, vest, black pants and shoes). just wear golf shirts and nice khakis--much more effective uniform on 80 degree days.

Every October, my wife and I like to enjoy a long weekend in the Hudson Valley. We'll go to farm…read morestands, hiking trails, dine at local restaurants and stay at a cozy Bed & Breakfast. Over the years we've stayed at a few nice hotels. Minnewaska Lodge is now at the top of my favorite places. Minnewaska Lodge is centrally located to all of our favorite spots. Driving our Tesla from Long Island, we stopped for lunch at our favorite diner, charged up at a Tesla supercharger station and pulled into the Lodge parking lot around 3pm. The view is just commanding. This large lodge with the mountains as a back drop is post card perfect. After we received our keys and stored our luggage, we went to a local farm stand for a bottle of local wine as well as local cheese and crackers. I tried to light a fire but each deck heater had issues. Sitting outside and just enjoying the natural beauty was worth the room price. Not only was the staff friendly, the guests were also very engaging. Almost chipper! We're playing cards in the main dining room while sipping on our local wine purchase and people were stopping by to talk to us. It really made our overall stay extra special. Our room was equally impressive. We had an outdoor deck that opened up to the same view as the main lodge. The bed was comfortable, the shower products were high end and the welcome note was a nice touch. It was a short weekend but Minnewaska Lodge checked all the hospitality boxes to make our stay special. I cannot wait to return!

When I questioned the hostesss and mentioned we had a show and were only going to be there an hour she said "do you want to see my reservation book?". Um, no, there's no reason to be salty - and we overheard her say it to others as well. Not exactly hospitable; there are nicer ways of saying things. We sat at said "only table" - which was right by the door and next to the hostess stand - and we were immediately greeted by a lovely young woman who seemingly knew nothing about drinks and food. My friend asked for a lighter type of beer, not recognizing the tap selection and was told she should get the ipa (there was a pilsner option and I recommended that since ipas are not light). I asked for a simple marg, rocks salt, and asked what premium tequilas she had and she noted the well and espolon. Those aren't premium; and she mentioned casa Migos - great! Only to come back 3 minutes later to tell me They are out of that and offered some brands i had not heard of, which is fine , but when I asked if they were blanco, reposado or anejo, she had no idea. Regardless of not knowing her stuff, she was lovely and attentive. So now comes the food. We wanted some Snacks to share and ordered the hot honey chicken, tempura asparagus and a special hash brown that was supposed to have crème fresh and some type of roe. Cool - the perfect amount to share in the short time we had. The asparagus were not shaved before frying so you couldn't really pick them up and eat them with your hands as they were stringy and came with a side of mayo. Not an aioli or anything seasoned - just mayo. You had to cut the asparagus into pieces. Could be worse but ya think maybe you could provide a dipping sauce that wasn't a spoonful of hellmans? The chicken was not hot, nor did it have honey, but it was fresh. The hash brown special did not have crème fresh - it was sour cream- a lot of it - and was very crispy, which was great after you scraped off the giant tablespoon of sour cream. Overall the food all fell short in taste, presentation and price (they are not shy on their prices, which is fine if the food, even this simple, was amazing). This could have been such a better experience. Between the salty hostess, untrained waitress (not her fault), and food that was mediocre, we spent $109 before tip. Yep - for 2 drinks, chicken nuggets, fried asparagus and 2 hash browns....I would have happily paid it for great service and great food. Again, our waitress was lovely, just poorly trained and not her fault. The hostess continued to be short w just about everyone who walked in - and we only knew that because our "only seat" was right next to her. Do better Kinsley - even Michael Kosta, who was the show we were seeing at the Assembly, made jokes about having to leave that night because the hotel was charging 13k a night (a joke but we all understood he was talking about the pricing). If you're going to charge top dollar, then be top service. Make it memorable, and not in a way that makes one write a review like this. Hugely disappointing; not recommending and will not be back.

Hotel Kingsley had a small casual space when you enter, past the stairs, there are couches by the window. Music by the side, books on the shelves, games available in the same space. Downstairs, there is a bigger area to hangout by the TV with couches too. A small gym is on the same floor, sauna in a separate room. (We didn't explore the sauna because the door was locked). Checking out the downstairs. It was a comfortable, quiet setting. Our hotel room, my favorite part from night one was the bathroom. Huge bathroom, big windows and awesome rainfall shower. The entire space was worth it for a weekend stay. Hotel Kingsley looks renovated. You can see the maintenance is done well and noise was seldom you can still relax and enjoy your stay.

After staying at the church des artistes, I know where to refer people to stay. The building is beautiful and filled with character and charm. Make sure to reserve a room on the first floor if it's important to you that you have easy access to the bathroom. We stayed in the Library Room, which has its own en suite bathroom and a canopy bed with a beautiful lace curtain. The room was spotlessly clean. Right next door there is the "great hall" with a huge dinner table which would be great if you're looking to host a group - a fireplace, comfortable armchairs, and a chess set. The hosts were immediately available when we needed them but were not intrusive into our stay at all; it felt private, which is just what we were looking for. I didn't have a chance to try their breakfast but it sounded amazing. Another benefit of the library room is that the breakfast tea & coffee are placed right across the hall from your door in the morning! perfect for putting on one of the fluffy robes and grabbing a cup of coffee to bring back to the room. I accidentally left some personal items in the room. The hosts contacted ME to let me know they had found them and agreed to mail them to me!

To begin with it mentions 5…read morebedrooms and 5 bathrooms...what isn't mentioned is that all of the bathrooms are on the 1st floor and for the 3 bedrooms upstairs, it's a long way to the bathroom. If you are lucky enough to get one of the 2 bedrooms downstairs, no problem. My other complaint was the breakfast part of the B & B, there is none. Each room has a nice card stating coffee and tea served in the morning but on 2 of the 3 mornings nothing was available. During our 3 day stay, there was someone on the premises for about 30 minutes. Absolutely, NO STAFF. You could order a breakfast for a $15. charge but no one was there to order from...very disappointing.
