I had a massage yesterday with Jenna. I wanted a therapeutic and relaxing treatment and I got so much more! Jenna is an intuitive and gifted massage therapist who expertly attended to the problem areas with care, using a variety of techniques, including hot stones, a massage gun, icy heat and her expert touch. She sensed a low energy coming off me and offered essential oils as part of the treatment. I left feeling re-energized, my muscles and nerves relaxed (I have MS and she was extra alert in caring for me). Jenna has a lovely, friendly personality and I was so grateful for her treatment - I hugged her before I left. If I lived here year round I would go back to Jenna as much as I could. I highly recommend her. I also want to give a shout out to Torri who took my booking and stayed in touch via text. She was organized, responsive and and friendly. Have gotten 2 facials here and loved both of them!! Originally found them on Spa Finder with a gift card. I reached out and they offered a few times that would work. For the first facial, the esthetician asked detailed questions to cater the facial to what I was looking for. She also recommended products that I purchased and ended up loving. She was not pushy at all, just informative and helpful. I loved it so much I came back for another facial a few months later. It's difficult to write a review like this-- but without honesty, no one has the opportunity to improve or to understand how someone might experience them. When I arrived at my appointment, about 20 minutes early, the door was locked. I arrived early since it's a spa -- there might have been sauna, steam, etc -- I didn't know. I heard the door unlock a few moments later and walked in. I was greeted with a hello, and you're VERY early," -- it didn't feel welcoming or comfortable so I offered to wait outside. I was ushered to a waiting room. The treatment was by the same woman, who I learned is Oceania. She was cordial in every aspect, asking the right questions ("is this pressure good," etc,). The treatments I got with her were the body scrub and massage, however, there was no separation between the two and it was very unrelaxing. I immediately felt energetic discomfort and thought about asking to just take the scrub home, but was afraid to say that for fear of hurting her feelings. She was just ... not good. Not skilled. She started with the scrub on my back -- rather than a scrub I'd call it a swiping-- there wasn't really scrubbing. She completely skipped parts of my body (butt, hands, belly, chest, and only did the top of my arms, not the bottoms) ... it was weird because normally someone would scrub the whole body, remove the scrub and then do the relaxing massage but this was choppy with her doing my back scrub then massage then leg scrub then massage then other leg, etc. it felt like I didn't get a proper scrub OR a proper massage. I laid there the entire time wanting to escape it-- questioning if she was having a bad time, wondering what I should tip for something like that, etc. How do I tip on a service that isn't even the service as it's described? Again, it's difficult to write a review like this because this is a person whose business might be affected by this, but how else can it be communicated that she maybe needs more training in her career choice, or needs to learn how to energetically present herself as a loving and welcoming in an environment where people are paying to relax, refresh, and enjoy ? My hope in writing this is that a more loving, present, and aware service might arise in this spa. One where a full body scrub is actually full body AND an actual scrub, and where a massage is a present, flowing, and relaxing experience for a client. read more

Oceana is literally the best massage therapist I have ever had. And I have had a lot. I get massages for 4 reasons: to relieve muscle tension from stress, the promote healthy blood flow throughout my body, to promote healthy nerve function and to feel GOOOOOOOOOOD in a life that's challenging. Rarely do I get all those so completely met by one massage artist. I can literally feel my nerves waking up on the inside and the fluids moving through the muscles when she's working on them. And her touch and technique feels so great while it's doing so much inner work! At the end, I'm literally foggy brained for a few minutes because I've been so removed from the things that tug at my attention all day. Plus, little things go a long way, and on top of her perfect touch, she offers some aromatherapy, the music and bed is great, an eye pillow to block light when on your back, and warm wash cloths in your feet before rubbing them. What an amazing massage by the owner, Torri!!! I enjoyed one of the best massages I've ever had and I've had a lot!!! Her strong and healing hands were incredible and her technique and pressure was on point!!! I felt like I was floating afterwards, so relaxed and rejuvenated! My only complaint is that it was only 60 minutes... next time (and there will be plenty of next times) I will get 90 minutes!!! I also received a wonderful Express Facial from Brenda!!! She has such a sweet and caring personality, very friendly and welcoming! She made me feel extremely comfortable throughout my service. She was so knowledgeable and informative when it came to my skin concerns and solutions. Her gentle and relaxing touch was heavenly. Had a bad waxing experience here. The waxer Kakae burnt my armpit which resulted in several days of peeling blistered skin that stung all the time. I had my underarms and lower legs waxed and it took over an hour, which is unreasonable. Also: I had asked to get a bikini wax but this specific waxer does not perform that service... id hope for someone certified to wax, they would be able to do all areas of the body. Anyway, after my lower legs and underarms, I went to pay and was genuinely taken aback to be charged $80 --not including gratuity! These services wildly overpriced, especially for a sub par experience. I was very very disappointed and would not recommend to anyone, even though everyone who works here is very nice, it's just not the best place to go. read more

I bought a groupon for 2 60 minute massages. I normally don't pamper myself with massages at spas so I don't have much to compare this place to but it is a solid 3 stars. The waiting room is clean and relaxing but cold (but on both days it was cold out so that may have been why). My first massage wasn't very good. She didn't use enough pressure and I left feeling exactly the same as I did when I walked in. I almost didn't come back for my 2nd massage but didn't want the money I already paid to go to waste. I'm really glad I did come back again though because my 2nd masseuse was really good. She seemed like she genuinely cared about me and didn't just see me as a customer. And after the massage she even came out and talked to me. Even with the great second massage, I give this place a 3 stars because it was frustrating how many times I had to call them to book my first appointment. The first time I called them was 2 minutes after they closed on Thursday and nobody answered, which is fine because technically it was after hours. I called 3 more times between 11-11:30am on a Friday and nobody answered even though it was during business hours. If I didn't already pay for 2 massages, I wouldn't have bothered trying again and would have gone searching for a different place. Someone finally did answer the phone when I called again at 3pm. Overall, I had an OK experience. With all the places around to get a massage, I don't think I'd come back, even if the location was convenient for me. read more

My wife treated me to a massage here and it was fantastic. Wendy did a great job finding trouble spots and communicating to get just the right pressure. Some nice stretching as well and pressure point work on my jaw and sinuses - I left relaxed, refreshed, and already planning a return trip. This is just the sort of place I like: not a big chain where I feel like a number being checked in or a "one room" place where I'm on one bed out of 5 in the massage cattle-call room. Just recently took advantage of their couples massage for Valentines Day and I was pleasantly surprised. We started out with a hour long full body massage, followed by a facial for my fiancé while I sat in the sauna. We then sat on the patio overlooking down San Clemente eating chocolate covered strawberries. All of which at an incredible value. I will definitely come back. I really love this place. It is family owned mom and daughter do it all with s few other therapists sprinkled in. The massages I have had are incredible! The spa itself is beautiful, warm and cozy and very relaxing. The prices are very reasonable. The reason I am giving it 4 stars though is that when you call for an appointment they aren't always in. In fact my first time I tried to just drop in to schedule an appointment and even though the sign said open at 10, they weren't, So it really is "open" but by appointment, but they are very accommodating. This is how a small, local business should operate. Both Tori (massage therapist) and Shayna (aesthitician) treat you like a personal friend. The location is quietly out-of-the-way of the Del Mar tourist crowd, but convenient. The massages and facials are always excellent. I have been a regular here for several years and, because of their excellent service, they survived the financial crisis of 2008-2009 by growing! Had to write a review because this place is amazing! The staff is wonderful the vibe is so serene and you get just a good feeling stepping through those doors! I came with a good friend for a couples massage and seaweed wrap and would recommend it to everyone! I learned about this place through Groupon. Overall, my experience was pretty good but I did have a couple of issues. First of all, when I arrived for my appointment, the computer had inexplicably cancelled my massage. Apparently three clients were booked with three massage therapists. Since only two massage therapists came in, my appointment vanished. Apparently the computer system is such that there is nothing to warn the receptionist to reschedule. The appointment simply disappears, and there is no record that I ever booked for that date and time. Nobody realizes that a client is coming in and there's no massage therapist. I hope that this glitch is fixed soon--I would like to have been notified before I drove down there, but they were unaware that I was coming, since the computer just disposed of my information. The other problem I had was that I purchased a 90-minute massage. This is really a 75-minute massage, so I do wish that they would be a bit more clear about what is being offered. The technician was very good though; I am undecided as to whether I would return. That computer issue made me a bit nervous. It's very uncomfortable going in for an appointment that I had only made two days previously, and there is no record that I called. Luckily the receptionist remembered talking to me and was able to fix things. read more

I called a week prior to the date I needed an appt (we live out of town and decided on a last minute trip) Wendy was not in that day, but 2 separate girls at the spa called to let me know they reached out to her to check on availability, and would get back to me asap.
