I also joined the "Be the Match" registry, donated blood and bone marrow previously. I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to find a site that will allow me to donate platelets. Exterior Lots of parking, but parking lot is full of pot holes. Lol. Not their fault so no stars deducted. The anchor stores are Goodwill and Food Depot. Interior A little dated, but well lit and clean. Compared to Biolife and ADMA Biocenters (both on Barrett Parkway), this spot definitely looks like it needs some updating and modernization. And CHAIRS. I still can't believe they don't provide chairs like every other competitor facility I've visited. Customer Service There are some really sweet, empathetic people working here. And there are some people who work here who will not only NOT speak to you or greet you, but they will blatantly ignore you if you say 'hello, how are you today?' Sometimes its rudeness, sometimes its social awkwardness I think. For example, the other day, one young lady in vitals expressed shock and confusion that I'm allowed to donate because I have several small, old scars from mosquito bites. (When I say old - I mean some of my scars are DECADES old.) She also made a HUGE deal about me not looking my age. And while I guess you can call it flattering, she was carrying on like I'm old enough to be the crypt-keeper. And she was just so LOUD. I did my best to play it off, but It made me super uncomfortable. Fortunately, most of the super rude folks don't seem to last long. This industry has a huge turnover. Derricka (sp?) and Chastity are consistently efficient, welcoming and friendly and make the entire process less daunting. I say all that to say - if you encounter a rude staff member, don't let it deter you, chances are they will quit or be fired within a few weeks. Price / Value The last time I checked, the normal donor payout - after you are no longer in 'new donor' status, is the same as Biolife and ADMA. Overall Overall, I like this place. The only negative I can think of, aside from the fact that there is no waiting room / no chairs - so you will have to sometimes stand in long lines waiting for vitals, and again, when waiting for donor beds - is the fact that some of the donors are really wild and rude / inconsiderate. Despite the signage, there ARE donors who will have LOUD, inappropriate dumb conversations riddled with profanity. (And I curse, I just don't go around dropping F bombs and cursing around strangers.) Several times I've witnessed donors who sang LOUDLY or rapped or watched movies or listened to music (without headphones) DURING THEIR ENTIRE TIME IN THE DONOR BEDS and the staff (including security) did nothing to quiet them. I'm assuming because they're trying to avoid confrontations. A few weeks ago I witnessed the security guard reprimanding a guy who was cussing like he was channeling a 90's Eddie Murphy comedy stand-up and I wanted to clap and cheer. Donors who have 'main character' syndrome just make the entire process exhausting. The other thing I've noticed - and this is not exclusive to CSL, is that a lot of the donors REEK of weed when they come in. It's weird that marijuana somehow doesn't show up in the plasma donations. People playing music loudly without earbuds, somehow a guy got in that was just walking around trying to sell packs of cigarettes not even a donor. Its more so used as a job for a culture that doesn't work. Came here at every available time, different visits, and it's the same vibe a woman gets, being hit on at the gas station just trying to pump gas. Needs better management at a place as serious as sticking needles in people. Just a really uncomfortable place to be at. Advise: Put your earbuds in ignore the ignorance because it will happen to you, and don't let it ruin your day or deter you from donating plasma, it is very much needed. Thank You! read more

They have an overall 1.1 star rating for a reason. Management and work culture is the problem. Unprofessional. Loud. Chaotic. Loud music played overhead. Loud music and conversations played all over the place by other donors in the (long) lines and on the donating floor. Don't complain about it! They will make stuff up about you like, "Severe PTSD due to 9/11..." and defer you permanently. Even if you don't have anything like PTSD S and weren't even in the country during 9/11. There are rules that are not being followed or enforced. They DON'T like bring held accountable. Infection control is a disaster. Open fluid bags dropped into BIOHAZARD trash bins...and picked out by hand and used anyway. I'm a former hospital infection control officer. This place is and infection control/prevention DISASTER! It is not safe. With a few rare exceptions, the employees are rude, flippant and petulant. Other centers actually pay more and maintain a quiet, professional, safe, and friendly atmosphere. AVOID this place at all costs. There are MUCH better places to donate. read more

Baby when I tell you I understand why they have 1 star. I get it at times things can be stress working with the public. I was called to come in for an I thought the 2 ladies that assisted me was completely rude not only that they wanted to make it seem as if I didn't understand the conversation I had with the manager that called me. Asking are you sure needless to say the gentleman that called to schedule the interview was not in attendance. I am very impressed with your staff and professionalism. I have had great care from Camilla , Vivian, Renee, Jasmine , Simone , Donnell , Maurice, Amber T and Mr. David. I had the pleasure of acknowledging your Director, Stephen. Everyone in my family except for me is in a medical profession. My Dad was an eye doctor, he ran his practice on wonderful care.He always said "it's nice to be nice". I see that your staff is friendly and very thorough. I agree with each and every former review at this impolite, unprofessional, "ghetto" facility. The constant employee turnover and attitude from new hires is astronomically absurd. I was denied donating today because a nurse thought I had an "enlarged jaw area ". Well, honey, if you were a real DOCTOR you wouldn't be taking blood at a public donor place and you would be hired at someone's hospital actually saving lives. But you can't teach "us" anything. Avoid this place all together. I'd rather sell 1000 apples at .10 a piece downtown from 5am to 11pm before I ever introduce my parts to such a place again. Deal with dust and suffer the consequences. CSL is tricking people to come to them by posting the wrong amount of money they will receive that day. My app told me I'd receive $100 for the donation and when the donation was over I was told I'll get $45. This is a total scam by csl to get people in their center. This is the worst plasma place I've ever been to. They don't deserve any stars. Long wait times. Understaff. The store manager had to work on the floor and he didn't know what he was doing. He bruised my partners arm so bad. They need to shut this location down because clearly he can't manage it. I'll never be back. Just watched a client complain about how the staff are not wiping down the beds after each client. Then they talked bad about him when he left. The "manager" lady with the long blonde dreads asked me how she could help me, then when I started talking she immediately turned around and started a conversation with someone else. Another kind woman helped me but told me I needed to show proof of address. I went back in with proof, I showed the paperwork to the "manager" and she didn't even look at the folded paper and said "it needs a date on it." I said "can you please open it? It's at the top" and she rolled her eyes at me. She wouldn't even tell me what I needed! I had to ask someone else because she was so cold and rude!!!! What kind of customer service is this??? Staff is nice, but when you allow customers to come in with loud music and they allowed it to continue was really crazy. Not everyone like that type of music and it should not be allowed. I don't come here a lot anymore. But this this is my last time. I understand there are short staffed, but I got here at 3:10 and was still waiting to be stuck at 6. I will never come back. I enjoy helping the patients, but this is not worth the long standing and pain it causes. read more

Staffing at this location is horrible. I go sporadically because some the staff are rude and unprofessional. I work in the exact field as Csl so I'm very familiar with procedures and protocols. The machines are outdated and the staff are overwhelmed. Every time it's a new untrained receptionist I get nervous and uneasy...this last visit after my finger was improperly pricked 3 times my hematocrit was 1 point below acceptance. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I was deferred for the day. I was then able to go and join a new clean and reputable plasma center. It's just strange how I went from a 37 at cslplasma to 41 at another center. Will not be returning to cslplasma. read more
