CTA has a station at UIC and Halsted. It also is basically the stop for Greektown as it also has…read morethis in the station. Maybe the most notable feature is the long ramp at the entrance from the street. Give several minutes to make it because it really is long. The station seems to be better in cleanliness and safety. It has been renovated so it seems to be clean. It serves the Blue Line. This is the main stop for UIC. Also it's the best stop for Greektown. Just up Halsted are some good restaurants including a Guardino's and just beyond that are local eateries like Meli's. At the Morgan Street and Peoria Street entrances is access to the UIC campus. The station mostly is safe. Good location to get to Greektown. It often gets crowded in the middle of the week because of UIC. The Eisenhower Expressway rattles below the bridge and you can usually see motorists who have got into accidents pulled off in the berm so there's something to watch.

Even though the area isn't great it's not all bad or anything. The trains get here every few minutes. It seems to be one of the better stations in the area. It serves the Red Line. This also has great access to busses as many come to the bus stops just outside the entrance of this elevated station. It's also clean. There's not that bad smell like at underground stations. Also this above ground station gives you a good view of the surrounding area. This happens to be in the middle of the Dan Ryan Expressway so you can see cars whizz by and maybe see crashes or something else interesting. Good as far as transit stations go. It's cleaner than most others around here. This is mostly quiet except for the traffic and it's for the most part safe.

For the purposes of this review, we are going to concentrate on #1 and 2. Though eating the #3 sandwich while riding the Red line somewhere interesting would be great too. I don't usually use the 47th street station, riding to Garfield instead on my weekly trek down to the U of C campus. Today, flush with the pheromones of change, I took a different bus route home that took me to the 47th street station. This station was clean, neat and extremely well lit. In front, near the bus waiting area, was a giant flat screen showing the CTA bus tracker arrival schedule for the routes that serve this station - CTA Buses #15, #24, #47, #51. Beautiful! Walking inside the station, was another flat screen TV showing Red line northbound and southbound arrivals. Mon dieu! This is a beautiful thing for People Like Me that have not scurried down the iPhone rabbit hole just yet. Both of these TVs worked, and were *not* splattered with effluvial swill!! In my happiness at seeing this efficiency, I dared to dream that all Red line stations would be quickly outfitted with these features - yet wistfully wondered how long it would be before the screens got broken and/or stolen. But at any rate . . . this station is a score for the CTA.

Get a train to almost anywhere. It serves the Green, Orange, and Red Lines. This is a very busy station. Close to here is Soldier Field. Needless to say, it gets busy when there's a game. Of course, there's other stuff here too. Get off here to go to the Adler Planetarium, Field Museum, and Shedd Aquarium, along with other less known museums. There's also buses that take you right there. Better than driving. There's also no paying for parking. Here you can walk over to many attractions. It's best known for being close to Soldier Field and museums. There's buses for those not wanting to do as much walking.

Pretty safe for the most part. Has a classic feel but it's modern and clean. There's also an area under the tracks to hang out. As far as stations, this is one of the best. It serves the Brown Line. This is overall a pretty interesting station. Be sure to pronounce it correctly. It's actually said like "Pah-LY-nuh." This is one of the coolest visually. In the station it has an old style of charm. There's the classic mosaic tiles. Outside the station is even more to enjoy. The main entrance is bigger, but across the street there's another entrance plus a cool little area to sit and relax. Has a ton of cool restaurants around here such as MK Noodle, and too many to name all. It's overall clean and safe. The bad thing is there's usually kind of a wait for a train.

Feels safer than many other stations but that's not saying a lot. There's a few fast food places and stores. It has a kind of busy location at Chicago Avenue and Franklin Street with all the commuters coming. It serves the Brown and Purple Lines. This is between the Merchandise Mart and Sedgwick stations. Inside there's kind of a bad odor and there's a few sketchy people but that's typical stuff around. There's a few bus stops that are located conveniently close by here. Has shopping around the area. It has some fast food like Dunkin, some grocery stores like Wal-Mart, but nothing any good. This seems to be mostly safe.

The deep valley between the buildings in the L station, the iconic station house with the rail resting a top. You see a lot of people just waiting for the train to pass for their perfectly timed shot. Shadows cast by the EL makes a spectacular mosaic given the time of day. Reflective buildings when riding out. Not to mention the slew of businesses from interior design galleries to some of the best restaurants and clubs in the city a ten minute walk. And when pulling in/pulling out from the North, you might catch a glimpse of the spirit of progress.

According to the train schedule, waits for trains are usually 7-8 minutes for most of the day. Chinatown is a neighborhood that is split into two parts, as one part contains Chinatown Square, while the other part contains the main Chinatown neighborhood. The station is located in an eastern location between these two areas that is equidistant to both. The elevated train platform also has a nice view of the Chinatown area including the neighborhood library and the Chinatown gate. On the street, the station entrance is close to the Nine Dragon Wall, which is a nice piece of Chinese art. I recommend this station if you are trying to get to Chinatown as trains are frequent and because it operates at all times of the day. There is no need to take a car if you are a tourist unless you are buying some heavy relic or coming from out of town.

We took Cermak-McCormick after visiting the Blues Heaven Foundation a few blocks away. We were headed to Chicago Music Exchange on N Lincoln. Our route was Cermak-McCormick to Clark/Lake, where we transferred to the Brown line for the Paulina train stop. We were at the train station on a hot summer day, but fortunately there was some breeze on the first/street level of the station. There was a few spots to hide from the sun on the platform. The station is clean and is clearly video monitored. Plus, there are some cool cartoon illustrations to checkout on the platform while waiting for your train.

Armitage is not bad as far as El stations go…read more What I like: + Armitage is among the cleanest I'd been to on the CTA + The station is easy to navigate + There are elevators for both the inbound and outbound platforms + The platforms have more than ample width + I can't fully write off that but if old school charm + While I've not used this station late at night, it feels safe What I don't like: - Coverage from the elements is limited - There is no countdown signage at platform level. The signs up there are old, red/green/orange LED ones. All they do is give you the time and remind you to step away from the edge. Thus, while there are some negatives, with help from the Transit app, this station is one of the better ones in the CTA.
