No waiting in lines, no picking a number and the frustration of scheduling apt going thru human customer service at local DMV offices. What a GREAT DEAL. And. Then Get few groceries too! This used to be my go-to grocery in Apple Valley. I don't she there anymore. Good: - Assortments are great, they have a wide range of products, from produce to health, to bulk and deli, might be the best in town. - Open 24 hours Bad: - Their prices are as expensive as the premier brand grocer in the Twin Cities. - Service is awful, have to bag your own groceries. - Has the feel of a discount warehouse but without the value. There are now far better options in town, and I don't think I'll be back. read more

What's it take to get a F-ing hand basket? The hundred or so stacked over 6' at the express check area isn't indication enough? Or the mile long lines of pushcarts with five items? Or the "efficient" idiots like me juggling six or seven items? I'm guessing Cub is hiring the Rainbow/ Roundy employees. I note that due to the slack jawed or bewildered looks on most of the staff tonight. Temporary rant now set aside. So, I'm really not sure how large the Cub chain is now. However, it seems that they still rely on teaser deals to get people in the door. I certainly realize they have overhead costs, however a majority of their goods are at convenience store prices. Their concept years ago was to keep the cost down with a no frills environment. Still no frills... Regarding this store, Apple Valley, its OK. What else can one say? The store is run like every other Cub Foods, lacking any real imagination or draw. I typically navigate toward Target, which is within site across the street. One plus that Cub has over its competitiion is more grocery variety. Along with that, they have a pretty good selection of organic produce. Once again, my normal bitch, overpriced and thus not cared for on the shelf because no one buys it. The "international" food aisle is pretty good. Good thing most of us overlook checking dates when we buy stuff. just saying. All in all, the store is orgainized fairly well. I do feel a strange unease when I go into the section of the store that sell pet food, toys, and other assorted junk. What I can't find at Target stores (I got two of them near me), I come here. Particularly for their specialty foods like German whole grain rye bread and some of the special cold cuts. I have no complaints of this store. Has everything that you want and then some. Not as nicely laid out as Target so it takes time to find the things you're looking for. Countless self checkouts can be found for those in a hurry or have only a handful of things to buy. If you're buying veggies, fruits and other stuff that don't have bar code stickers attached, the electronic system pad is pretty user-friendly in finding the correct item. It takes some time getting used to but after a couple run-ins with the machine, I can call myself an expert. They also accept Apple Pay if you have an iPhone. read more

It would be average however there are some major annoying factors that play apart in my poor review. Almost always I have to wait in lines that are 3 or more customers deep which makes checking out a long process. The deli has friendly staff but often ignore customers in order to get their side work complete. The produce is pretty much awful and anything on sale goes bad within 2 or less days of purchasing it. On a bright note the pharmacy staff is very helpful and professional. Also high school athletes often are there to bag, and beg. They don't know how to properly bag groceries and then except a tip. Upper management needs to take a look into this store yet have ignored my multiple attempts to give them feedback via email. Take the time and drive to another grocery store. read more

I generally come here for the pharmacy just because they have all of our info in their system. Their selection of produce is always lacking the freshness I generally would like to see but as a large grocer they do have a good selection of brands etc. read more

Great grocery store. Easy parking, spacious interior with easy to find products. I loved the bulk bins and popcorn area. Since I don't live in MN, the visit was just to get some sandwich fare and a couple of snacks, so I did not get a chance to wander the aisles and study what the store carried. My hard to find Diet A&W Cream Soda was in stock, so big points there. I found this store to be clean and well lit. The shelves were not so high that I couldn't see my way around the store. A newly remolded store with great merchandise. That's about it. I fail to see what advantage that is when they have management that seems to be focused only on their new self checkout lanes. The long line that developed at the only open regular checkout was ignored to the point there were people stretched across and past the adjoining 4-5 lanes of closed checkouts. Very inattentive. It's ironic that they have so much invested in stocking and displays but seem to have very little interest in actually providing Customers with an efficient way for them to pay them for those things to give them a return on their investment. Cub Foods, Apple Valley Deli. Called Fri. Nov 29 to pay for turkey dinner for family so they can pick it up the next day. Big snow storm..I'm 2.5 hrs away. No one answered phone first call. Was on hold 7:30 min. Second call..Answered after 10 minutes..Told me that I have to come in and pay for it. Explained my dilemma. Put me on hold for 27 more min..never answered again!!!! Got on 3rd call and asked for manager. Said don't take credit card over phone due to fraud. read more

I like this store but the deli during dinner hours is difficult. They have a difficult time keeping stuff stocked on each of my visits. Today I review. Tonite at 5:30 No pizza- none No spicy chicken and told none will be available. Fried chicken: Fours breasts left so I asked for an 8 piece expecting a wait but they had chicken on the counter outside the glass. Got home and the two breasts which were deep in the case by the glass hadn't been rotated and were barely warm and really dried out out. I understand not wasting product by cooking it at 6:30 pm. But out of pizza/ chix at 5:30 is ridiculous ( except baked chicken which was overflowing and no doubt quite aged and at least 40-50 pieces!). Someone needs to take control and predict demand or decide when to fry based on stock. Simple. Evidently when dinner time arrives the cooking stops. A Cub employee/manager stopped and pointed at the empty pans kind of nervously. Said something in a hushed voice and walked away. I have never had to check expiration dates on items, until I moved to Apple Valley and started shopping at the Cub Foods there. Produce is not usually very fresh either. Often times the items that are on sale are out of stock within a couple of days when the sale starts. Very small amount of stock on shelves. When I have complained to management, they seem to not really care. Very disappointing shopping at this store compared to the Cub foods on Lyndale in Bloomington. read more

I wanted to give an updated review of the newly remodeled Cub in Apple Valley. One would think that after spending the amount of money that they did to remodel the store and add upgrades, improving customer service would have been addressed. Unfortunately, it wasn't. It is truly one of the worst managed stores in the area. I typically shop at Fresh Thyme, but do go to Cub for a few things that I am not able to get at FT. They never have enough checkout lanes open, their managers are never accessible and they have employees who are not properly trained. read more

This store is great. They always have advertised sale items in stock. The meats are better than other Cub Stores, mostly because they are fresher. The layout makes it easy to find what you need. Checkout is generally quick. Compared to other grocers, this place is the hands-down winner. read more

I am week or two late in writing this review, but I thought a little late is better than never. Around mid August 2016 I wanted to celebrate my wife's Birthday with two large steaks to grill at home in our back yard. We do most of our grocery shopping at Cub in Apple Valley, MN and since they were having a steak sale for $7.99 lb, we went there to find our steaks for the grill. Only wanting two steaks, and not finding them in the pre-packaged family packs, we asked the butcher named "Brian" who was on duty that day if he would cut two large steaks (about 2" thick, around 2 lbs each) for us. He said would be happy to cut the steaks if we could wait fifteen minutes while he re-assembled his saw which was dis-assembled for cleaning. We finished our shopping in other areas of the store and returned to the meat counter to pick up our steaks fifteen minutes later. The two porterhouse steaks were cut perfectly to our request and were beautiful in appearance. That evening we ate those steaks and found them to be the most tender, and flavorful steaks we have experienced in a long, long time. No kidding.......they were exceptional!
