I live in Burnsville but only shop here occasionally as its on the other end of town. The other Cub was torn down and will reopen this April or May. It is easier to find things here compared to the Apple Valley Cub Foods store. They did not have Whoppers Robins eggs in the Easter candy section. My son and I shared some Potato Kegs and Chicken Wings from the deli. They did have a sale on Dr Pepper Zero bottles. At $5.99 each, buy 2 get one free. Saves me money from stopping at convenience stores and overpaying. Cashier was friendly. read more

DO NOT BUY VISA GIFT CARDS FROM HERE!!!!!!! My mom purchased a few visa gift cards at this exact store for Christmas gifts. Each card held $200. All the cards were activated right after Christmas and within 48 hours of activation the cards had a balance of $2 or less. After looking at all the transition history per card on the website provided by the Visa gift cards. We were able to see that every visa gift cards balance was transferred to a PAYPAL account! Someone in this store is taking pictures of all these gift cards and is waiting until you activate the card to take your money!!! read more

Haven't had the best experience with this Cub. I don't shop at Cub much so I can't speak to if this is normal for all locations or just this one. Went to buy ground beef there, and I had to fish through half a dozen packages before finding some that wasn't expired. Some of them were over a week expired... Also, if there's a problem at the self-checkout, there is never anyone there to help. And maybe it's just the time of day that I go (usually early morning stopping before work, but sometimes it's at like 2/3PM), but I never have this issue elsewhere, most stores have someone dedicated to the self-checkout. Even when I'm there at like 3 PM and there is someone for the self-checkout, they're usually talking to someone else and not paying attention. read more

The Cub Foods website markets this store as a Online Order Pickup location. However, it is not. I was so excited to work near a location where I can pick up my groceries. It would be so convenient! I spent a good amount of time selecting my products on the website, adding each to my cart. Unfortunately, when I went to check out, the pick up location was in Chanhassen. I tried different ways of putting the pickup location back to Burnsville to no success. This was very frustrating. I found the Cub Foods customer support number {1 (888) 246-7822} and called it, thinking there was an easy fix. The service rep was not unkind. However, after ten minutes on the phone, she had surmised that the Burnsville store must not have a contract with instaCart and therefore cannot be a pick up location--Only Chanhassen is a pick up location. I was dissatisfied with that answer. I followed the Cub Foods website for ordering online with a pickup. I wasted at least half an hour of my day. After ten minutes on the phone, I decided to cut my losses. I will continue my online grocery pick ups and deliveries through other companies. I have stopped in for a few odds and ends between my grocery shopping. The prices are both reasonable and unreasonable depending on what you are picking up. Love that the redbox location is close to where I live. One thing about customer service that I don't appreciate is not being greeted in anyway when approaching the check stands. Especially when a conversation with another employee is more important than a customer spending money to fund your paycheck. And to walk in the opposite direction as the customer is approaching as if to say that I might as well check out my own groceries at the self checkout. Which is fine and well as long as the barcodes scan and the weight doesn't give me issues. And then to see a manager join the rude behavior of carrying on conversations with employees instead of greeting and ensuring customers have all they need. Poor level of customer service. read more

Let me begin by saying....all Cub Foods are NOT created equal. This Cub is bright, shiny and new. I can't say the same for all of them. However, I am not ashamed to say, this is my go-to grocery store. Of course they don't have everything...I've been known to make the occasional Byerly's run for sushi to-go, escargot, fresh mussels, pastries and the like, but for my everyday goods Cub hits the spot. I'm giving a bonus star for the large ethnic section and abundance of private label staples that save me a little $$. I have never had such complete, caring, above and beyond service from a Pharmacy! They have your back on every level, and I have never waited. The knowledge of the products is superior, and they are quick to answer any and all questions (even my dumb ones), without condescension or laughter. This location prides itself on being the showcase for the area. I've shopped there for years now as it is very close to home. I was a former grocery manager in New York so I have experience in how stores should be run. This store is pretty clean overall. I haven't had much issue with not having carts or sloppy cashiers. Overall the cashiers seem mostly friendly and efficient. The produce department is good. They do have reoccurring issues procuring decent sweet onions. Tomatoes are decent. Banana quality seems to fluctuate. I blame some of that on the buyers and perhaps pressure from more aggressive grocery stores willing to buy the higher quality items. Overall their produce is good. Bakery department is fair, really good donuts for being a grocery but some of the breads are frequently too hard. I tend to steer towards the standardized bread aisle for that. Deli is decent, they seem to have control of the product display, quality control and stock rotation. Biggest issues? The stock rotation is minimal in general grocery and dairy, I have to be very careful buying items that aren't already expired. Frequently, I've gotten home only to realize an item was past date (like the sour cream a week past and when I return to replace it, there are several others with the same date sitting right there on the shelf) or a jar of pickles that expired three months ago. Another issue with this location that I see is poor ordering capability. I frequently find that excessive ordering of one item will crowd out a nearby good selling item. Rather than push the excess to a back cap like decent grocery managers should do to keep the aisle display pristine, they fill up the neighboring product spot. If the stockers are filling those spots, the managers should catch that and rectify it as they are reordering. It's not happening though. Then the last item which I feel is the biggest problem is I'm not sure management really is concerned for their employees safety. I see a cart person out in sub zero weather barely able to function because his hands are too cold. Yes he was wearing gloves. So I mention it to a manager and they say, "they're told to wear gloves" and continues his own work. As a former grocery manager and non-com in the Army, cold weather meant possible danger to the troops. This manager's first thought should have been, "gee it's cold outside, I better go check on him and make sure he's okay." Not give me some trite response and risk danger to his "troop". Do they really care about their people? This is a problem that could explode in their face. read more

I used to come here all the time until i realized the one in egan is wayyyy better. I live two blocks from this cub and I will go out of my way to go to egan. This cub is cramped, produce here is not fresh. Every-time i'm here the Baguette's from the bakery they are hard as a rock. Employees here are just downright rude or don't want to help me ever. Went in here the other night to purchase a few things the girl running the self checkout was watching me like I was stealing because i forgot to buy something and went back to get it. She was extra rude and did not use a nice tone when I tried to use my coinstar slip. Not to mention I don't know why I even shop at cub maybe the convenience ,but they are over priced they charge $2 for a bottle of peroxide of which is .89 at target wow seriously keep ripping people off cub. read more

Very impressed with the service I received at Cub the other day. I didn't take a basket or cart when I arrived because I only needed a few things. Of course I ended up getting more than I planned. An employee saw me struggling to carry everything and asked if she could get me a cart or basket - I have never had a Cub employee even greet me before to be honest, so I was very pleasantly surprised. Not to mention the produce is always fresh, prices reasonable, and self-checkout makes it that much easier. read more

I give this Cub foods 4 stars because of their decent meat counter and their 2 isles of specialty international foods. The meat here is good, the produce is good and the staff here is very friendly and helpful. The only thing keeping it from getting a 5 star out of me is the seafood. The fresh seafood section here is horrible - even for a cub foods. Some work really needs to be done in this section to make sure you have a selection of good quality fresh fish. I was accused of stealing (seems to be a theme at this location) store director confronted me, argued with me, humiliated me in front of everyone and then stood there glaring at me for five minutes while I bagged my groceries. Parent company said they would follow up about the complaint but never did. Apparently treating customers like criminals is perfectly ok here. I was shopping at this location and I was inappropriately approached by the store director over extra paper bags I had in my cart. I take extra bags so I can double bag them for my next shopping trip. I don't use them for anything except my next shopping trip at Cub so it definitely isn't stealing. The bags are very flimsy and most of the time there is not enough time to double bag everything when I am actually checking out. If I don't double bag things I end up using plastic because the paper bags are so prone to ripping and handles coming off. Plastic is bad for the environment so I try to avoid it and recycle the paper bags. The store director (his name is Nick) approached me and accused me of stealing or otherwise inappropriately taking bags from the store. There were other customers present as well as employees. It was humiliating. I explained to him why I take the bags and he demanded to know if I would be bringing the bags back to this specific store because "each bag costs us 3 cents". I told him I was a lifelong customer, I was unsure why I was being treated this way and I didn't appreciate being accused of taking bags. He said customers try to take bags all the time. He began to get visibly angry and was shaking. For the next five minutes while I bagged my groceries he stood at the end of my checkout lane glaring at me. It was so uncomfortable and inappropriate. I even stopped bagging my groceries to ask him to please stop glaring at me. He did not take his eyes off of me until I left the store. By that time I was incredibly creeped out by this man. I'm a woman and there is no reason a man should stare at me for 5 minutes straight. He was very obviously attempting to intimidate me over paper bags. Even if they do cost 3 cents a bag they have just lost a lifelong customer and my business over a lifetime could probably purchase 1000 pallets of paper bags. I immediately filed a complaint with the company that owns Cub (SuperValu) and was told my complaint was being sent to the district manager and I would hear back within 1 business day. I never heard back from anyone. I even followed up by sending another message asking if my complaint was still being processed. I didn't receive a reply to that email either. I've since stopped shopping at Cub foods altogether. If you are considering shopping at this location I would suggest a different location. Honestly though the customer service is terrible. I've since switched to Super Target and the difference is huge. The prices are similar and if you use a Redcard you can get 5% off every purchase including groceries. That adds up. For every $100 I spend I get $5 back. You don't even need a credit card anymore, you can choose the debit RedCard and that works just like a debit card. They also bag my groceries for me and their bags are sturdy so I don't need to worry about double bagging at all. I do not recommend this location and I actually don't recommend Cub foods at all anymore. I wish I had switched prior to being approached and publicly accused of stealing paper bags. What a disturbing experience. Equally disturbing is the company's lack of concern over their store director's behavior toward a customer. I thought I was doing them a favor letting them know that this man was approaching customers this way, but now they are aware and choose to ignore the problem. I'm glad I have other options now and I can bring my business someplace where the focus is more on good customer service. read more

Cub is just so bad I have to review it. Need to have a paper coupon to take advantage of specials they have around the store, the competitors do not. Coupons take me back 50 years, I do not look at the Newspaper or coupon books for special, but will buy something I see marked down as I walk through the store. Horrible place! Avoid at all costs, well worth driving down Nicollet to 42, taking a right, and going to the Cub on 42. It's maybe another 10 minutes tops. Or better yet, avoid Cub altogether. The staff at the Travelers Trail Cub are rude, unprofessional, unhelpful, and completely useless. They are also unavoidable during check out, as the self-check out registers are even worse! They freeze up at a screen where it will require an employee to scan their card several times, like every 3 items. There's no good time to go, the aisles are either crammed, or late at night there is absolutely no one around to help you pay for your food. I've had one bad experience there after another, and at this point I will never go there again. read more
