Time to update on the positive. Much of the earlier problems we've discussed I can see were from a long transition to complete the Cub look and feel. Big improvements in variety, more spicy products. More ethnic groceries. Bigger and better Deli. Bakery seems improved but I'm not that impressed by bread selections, as nothing daring. Well stocked shelves and fresher produce. Quarry has had police installed cameras in the parking lot, an unfortunate necessity in today's urban living. read more

The Cub Foods Deli tuna fish multigrain sandwich usually freash,not today !,the sticker said sell by today 6-7-2026. However ,In my opinion was swapped because the bread was horriblely dry and the tuna looked bad.I took 1 bite and almost threw up. They refunded our money on that purchase. However she was not very friendly with the return saying that customer service was supposed to do the return. With that being said, I will be finding a new place to eat.Because,I refuse to pay for getting sick at an cub foods in NorthEast Minneapolis. With Zero Customer service skills when it comes to the incidents of unsatisfactory goods and services at their supposedly daily freash deli boo!Boo BOO. I don't really get the negative comments about this grocery store. It's the most convenient and affordable option in NE Mpls. Every time I come in, everything is well stocked with plenty of choices and freshest fruits and vegetables. It definitely meets my needs. They also have great, indulgent fried chicken in their deli, especially for the price. Parking is easy, and if you have a Cub Rewards card, you can snag some extra discounts too. read more

Cub Foods is not where I typically shop. I happen to love their Super Chill sparkling water, so I came to get it. Unfortunately, they had only one Black Cherry. This appears to be the favorite flavor of the world. I'd gone to two other locations in search of my quarry. The store is clean and the staff are friendly. I've used this location to purchase the barbecue supplies when I worked at the U. Everything was always perfect. They always took great care of me. It's pretty easy to get in and out, despite the high traffic other nearby stores. I'll continue the search for the sparkling water. read more

This location is quite unique. I always enjoy this neighborhood and views you receive in this parking lot of downtown MPLS. The location serves so many communities and you can feel and diversity when you arrive. This Cub is a cornerstone in this community and offers a lot to it. The fresh items are superb, the square footage is great, you don't feel cramped. I'll say it's narrow at the start of the store and goes wide as you make it back to the establishment. Parking lot can jam up, depending on which entrance you use to park. Many popular brands share this parking lot so you could park centrally and do your shopping at all of them. I saw the grocery pick-up full, doesn't surprise me because this community is compact. I hope this location expands, grocery delivery...etc I think they could impact the community even more. What a beautiful Cub Foods! Found it accidentally when I went to visit nearby Home Depot for an online pickup. Beautiful produce, great variety of fresh fish, huge Asian foods selection and the takeout sushi was super yummy! read more

Moving here I learn that Cub is thee Minnesota grocery store. So best part of this Cub is that it is 24 hours and so need any ingredients at any point of the day. Come to this Cub! Cub has good sales at random times, I know there was a great summer fruit sales once and they have daily meal specials. Now that the Cub is remodel, it seems a lot nicer with a seating area if you good a meal and more specialize areas such as vegan and organic section. They also have a catering and it has been hit or missed in my experience if they got my order online. So that can be disappointing. The location of this Cub is great with having a Home Depot, Petsmart, Michaels, and Target. What more do you need? Solid Cub to go. read more

This grocery store is okay but it's a little cramped and not my favorite Set up. There is plenty of parking which is good. They had a great Diet Coke sale today so like 10/10 for that. read more

They say they are open until midnight but at 11:52, they have the doors locked and are turning away customers. Don't rely on this location.

Generally, Cub's prices are great and they have a nice selection of goods I'm pretty satisfied with. This Cub has been a really close location for many people at the U and I've used it on multiple occasions for catering. 2 out of 3 of those times I have gotten my orders on time, but the 3rd time they completely lost my order (that was placed and purchased online a week in advance). I had to wait 30 minutes for them to make it when I was already in a time crunch. Next time, I'll make sure to confirm things in advance. Otherwise, this Cub is in a large shopping center with plenty of parking, and it's one of the nicer Cubs I've been to. read more

I'm a big fan of the Rainbow at the Quarry. It's one of few groceries still open 24 hours a day, for which I am eternally grateful. 2am grocery runs are a staple in my world. If I'm feeling anxious, restless, whatever...I can always count on a good grocery store run to even me out. Rainbow's got good prices, a fab selection of international items, and again - open 24 hours. You have to be choosy about the time of day and what day of the week you go, as there are definitely times when it's busier than others. Sundays are particularly rough. 3 out of 5 stars because of a few factors.. JULIA A. a cashier is the reason I am posting this review. She was so rude and just mean when I was checking out yesterday and it really got to me. I live downtown MPLS and have a lot of different places I could and will go shopping. However, i like this cub for the meat department they have a great selection and the butchers are really friendly and helpful. The produce department is also always full and fresh. So I will make a special trip to this location. However yesterday I was checking out it was midday and not busy. And I was rung up likeI was a hassle complete with talking under her breath when ringing up my meat that i placed in a plastic bag, she was upset because it was hard to ring up. Then she shoved all the groceries down the belt with no concern with any of my items. I also grabbed the water from the bottom of my cart so she could ring it up and I guess that pissed her off also. I spent 300 bucks to feel like a hassle.. The upside is I called the store today and the manager apologized profusely and was very empathetic towards this encounter with one of his employees. He also gave me a 10 dollar gift card that I am going to give to the cashier because she is definitely struggling. I will go back but am cautiously going. read more

Cub is for losers. Don't let anyone tell you differently. THANK GOD they finally re-opened the 35W bridge because that means I can go to my favorite Target and Rainbow again. This Rainbow is clean, open, the lines are never a billion people long and they have a good selection of a lot of different things. Another reason Cub sucks? It's a grocery store. I'm not too pick when it comes to food stores. I don't need to shop where the beautiful people shop with their fancy carpeted stores and their extensive fancy delis with exotic cheeses and emaculate salad bars. Give me Roundy's brand any day. This place does that just fine. It's fairly clean and easy to naviagate. Although went and did a complete aisle rearrangement that nearly caused my head to explode when I was in there last. Hopefully I'll adjust soon or they are going to find me in the corner in a ball crying. Bonus points for all the college girls shopping on Sunday nights in their Juicy sweatpants. The only reason I frequented this place was because of my love of Target next door. But now that my Target has groceries - goodbye and good riddance, Rainblows Foods! Yeah, so what - they might have soooome pretty decent prices, but what is YOUR time worth? Is it worth waiting in line behind the people who attempt to use the u-scans only to realize that they have been scanning the front of the package vs the actual barcode for the last seven minutes? Is it worth waiting behind the lady who shimmies back and forth in front of the ground beef contemplating which package has more condensation (meaning it's not as fresh)? Is it worth it? Really? N - O. Try somewhere else... anywhere else. And yeah, those other places may not have u-scans, but hey, if I wanted to be a cashier, I would be on the other side of the belt.... scanning the fronts of the packages. read more

It's CUB Food, evolved from the recent RAINBOW, what do you expect? Weekly sales, great coupon options, affordable prices (they even have a dollar section way back in the back by the pharmacy) and decent parking. You have to bag all the items yourself and there is always a shortage of cashiers; feeling rushed through the whole process. Great fresh produce options, decent bakery and Izzy at the meat counter is hilarious. The thick cut bacon is a must and you'll find they have cheaper prices on the SAME items that you'd find for a dollar or two more at Target just a few stores down. Carts are always available, even the fun children's carts that always create some fight or drama. Bank, flowers, sushi I wouldn't dare eat and all the normal grocery stops. read more

For the lovely NE neighborhood and around the central MSP area, this grocery store is by far a grocery star. They now have a gluten-free aisle that is WAAAY cheaper and better than the stuff they carry at Byerly's and Lund's and on par with the prices at the co-op. Also, did I mention they are open 24 hours? Great for if you want an after bar time snack. Also, if you like to do a little international cooking, you will find a lot more of this here than in most regular grocery stores (i.e. plantains, kumquats, kimchi, curry pastes, etc). I do love my Co-op, but when I can't get there, this place great. They are always re-stocking and putting fresh produce out and I like the fact that there is variety. In addition, if there is something that you want them to stock, or if you can't find it, they are willing to purchase it and let you know when it is in!! How cool is that?! Considering the Rainbow down on Central doesn't even carry most fruits and vegetables 8 months out of the year, I am glad that this Rainbow cares about the customer. Also, they have a deli, salad bar, soup bar, and what I call a hot lunch line that they recently revamped. I haven't tried it, but everything looks really fresh and amazing. I didn't give it five stars because this place is always PACKED and the lines are extremely long. However, the fact that they have a lot of items and some hard to find items would make me want a place that is packed because that means that people are buying and coming back - so newer items will be on the shelves and I won't have to worry about botulism or some other disease from expired meats and produce. Unpleasant, slow, unknowledgable, and unhelpful staff. Really dirty inside, and fairly unorganized stock of groceries. I will agree with Jami M. about the fact that it is about ten times better than Midway Rainbow, but that's really not saying much. This place is the worst if you go on a Friday night, because all of the goddamn college kids literally wipe out the back stock of all the good munchies. There's always some senior citizen taking forever at the self check out because they can't figure out how to use the thing, and the regular check out lines are always backed up way too far. In general, it is the clientele I have the biggest problem with. Tons of rude college kids and soccer moms. Other than my girlfriend, literally no good looking women shop here! The checkout workers here are extremely rude. I used to work for a Cub Foods as a cashier/bagger, and there were standards of how we interacted with customers. At this particular Cub, however, you're lucky if the checkout person even says hi or makes eye contact or acknowledges your presence whatsoever. I get that part of Cub's deal now is that you bag your own stuff, but when you've done a large shop by yourself, it can be hard enough to load/unload/bag/pay. Add to that the checkout person then flinging the items belonging to the person behind you down the conveyor belt to the bagging area to co-mingle with your own purchases that you're still desperately trying to wrangle. God forbid the clerk actually bags a few items themselves or tries to keep the two parties separate. Then the clerk acts as if you're a huge burden and holding everything up. I am a relatively quick bagger having done it for a job previously. I've been here 5 or 6 times now and that has happened on 3 of those times. Also, the online coupons rarely load properly onto the stupid savings card, so if I am wanting to get the savings, I would have to grab their two separate paper publications by the door (why not just combine everything into one? Two is so inefficient and also wasteful) The prices really aren't that great, either, and the selection leaves a lot to be desired. They also seem to have the crappiest bags of all time. They are noticeably thinner than other shops and often have holes in them even before items get put into them. I told myself that that was the last time I would be shopping there. If you're only buying a handful of items and can use the self-checkout, you're after extra-processed foods and nothing out of the ordinary, and a penchant for being mistreated, then maybe this is the place for you. read more

Yikes!!! Step right up and get your Covid here! This store does not require CDC Protocol. It is bad enough that inconsiderate customers don't cover their noses (which does no good at all) but I bumped into an employee leaning over the meat counter with only a plastic eye shield on (which also does no good at all). It is not brain surgery to realize that a plastic shield that only encloses the forehead is not protective. He understood that yet his reason for not doing it was that "No one complains" and "No one makes him." This is such a nicer Cub than the one nearest me! I really enjoyed the produce section and the layout of the store. I was wandering down each aisle and found myself in their organic section, so (while I don't necessarily look for this) those that want this option have plenty to choose from! I recommend downloading the Cub app so you can redeem coupons and get discounts when you check out. read more

Ah, Quarry Cub. It sounds like a BBC nature documentary, but it's actually a decent grocery store with an above decent area for eating in (which I've actually done--stop judging me!). Prices are fairly average, but it's cheaper compared with grocery costs in outlying regions (I'm looking at you, Shit Cloud). read more

I take this place fore-granted. I live two blocks behind the Quarry and therefore come here every other day to grab just what I need, rather than stock up on groceries. Helps me cater to my craving needs. It can get a little crazy some days, but that's why they are open 24 hours a day. On those days when I just don't want to encounter anybody, I can drop in for some groceries at midnight or later. Sounds ridiculous, but I love it. Their salad bar has improved greatly in the past year, but is still only open till 7pm. The hot food bar is till about 4pm. And if you are feeling adventurous, they have some sushi and seaweed salad. Don't hate. Sometimes I've had a hankering that is best fixed with weird grocery store sushi. read more

After a few years of shopping at the Midway Rainbow, this place is GLORIOUS. It's layed out in a more logical manner, and the lines (usually) don't back up into the aisles. Great store. Rainbow in NE MPLS has some good coupon deals that they send out weekly; however, it always seems to be the same food items(milk, butter, eggs, bacon, OJ). Besides the coupons in the store, it is hardly worth my time. I buy the coupon items or anything else in the ad that is competitive, and walk next-door to Target for everything else. The lines are usually long since they have minimal staff hired here. If you are a single person, and you are only purchasing a basket worth of items head to Target, they always seem to have no lines and get you in and out of the store really fast. (Bring a reusable bag since all they have is plastic) Rainbow Foods has lousy produce, and is extremely dirty compared to union/higher-end grocery chaings I.E. Byerlys, Lunds, Cub Foods. Unfortunately, as a UMN student Lunds is too expensive, and the Cub Foods is pretty far away. The store overall just feels like a low-income store. The organic, gluten-free and other related "Whole Foods" items are all a day or two from expiring it seems. Just a depressing grocery chain. It's worth the coupon items, and heading to Wal-Mart or Target to finish you other shopping. Every item I would have bought at retail was much cheaper at target then at Rainbow. Cliff Notes: Students-Head to Target with your reusable bags Families, drive up 35W to Cub Foods with their superior coupon offerings, plus they pay their employees union wages so they are actually pleasant to deal with. read more

Trouble with the cub card at Holiday, again. Why so few checkers at Cub? No instructions at the self serve check out. Cub makes it hard to check out and pay. Cards always malfunction at the pump. You have to buy 2 of every thing at Holiday. My new years resolution is to shop at Hy-vee in 2020. read more

I frequent this Rainbow at least once a month because I'm usually next door at Target or Home Depot for something, and it's just convenient to stop in at Rainbow instead making another stop at one of our local stores. I have learned over the course of my visits here that this Rainbow has a really, and I mean REALLY good selection of items. Their produce is amazing--they have a lot of the less common items, and they have a fair number of organic items too! They have a ton of ethnic food options, bulk items like rice, nuts, flours, spices, teas, etc. and at great prices. Down just about every aisle you will find loads of items you've never seen at Cub or the other chain places. So, it makes it easy for someone trying to cook that new authentic Mexican recipe she found online to find all of the ingredients (including tomatillos)...yeah, try to find those at Cub. It is also perfect for those of us trying to cook healthier with organic, low/no sodium or light/nonfat versions of tons of items that you'll have trouble finding elsewhere. The prices seem pretty good too, so I will continue to shop here for a number of reasons. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because they almost never seem to have enough cashiers open, and they closed too early on Christmas Eve! I have no allegiances to a specific grocery store chain, but after shopping at probably a third of the grocery store in the metro area after I moved to town I found this gem. The produce section is amazing, the deli section has great meats, and the people are WAY too friendly (in that good way). I once witnessed the backstock manager pull a case of a product the store had sold out of from storage and give it to an older woman because he "knows it's her favorite and that we would sell out before she could get it." I'm not a sentimental guy or anything, but after that I no longer entertain grocery shopping anywhere else. These guys and gals rock and so does their food. read more

As someone who legitimately enjoys grocery shopping, I must say I was so disappointed with my experience at Cub. I'm not sure if they are still in the transitioning period from Rainbow to Cub but today was my first time in "Cub" and I have to say it was a hot mess. Everything seemed to be very disheveled and they literally just stuck cub foods stickers over anything that said "rainbow" on it. I went to grab some mashed potatoes and gravy from the deli and after trying some, couldn't even stomach a whole bite because the gravy was so burnt. The salad bar was not very clean and the hot foods self serve area looked like the food had been sitting in the hot trays since 9am. It doesn't look like much cub themed merchandising or branding has been done yet so in assuming they are just going through some growing pains. I hope they get their act together soon though...I won't be back for a while. read more

OMG! U-Scans! I love this store! My major grocery source in Michigan was the infamous Meijer which utilized these machines to the maximum. After being so ignorant of my Minneapolis surroundings that I almost exclusively shopped in the 26th & Lake area, what a delight it was to step into this store! It has an even classier look with an extensive cheese section (heaven!) and a wide array of specialty items. As usual, I have a couple of complaints about this location: A. Lack of visible pricing - signage and item stickers B. Hand-in-hand - lack of visible staff to inquire about such items. Without those nifty bar-code readers, I have a tendency to put down items that I cannot determine the cost. C. Shoppers do not understand that U-Scan, without a major conveyor belt area, is for 15 items or less buyers. Staff overseeing the machines really need to direct traffic. read more
