Stopped in this morning to pick up an energy drink since I had forgotten mine on the way to work! I was nervous they would be closed since it was 6:30 in the morning but they are open 24 hours which is great. I was able to quickly grab my drink and head out, the self checkout only takes card though and I had some coins I wanted to use but I can save them for another day where I have time for regular checkout. Overall good experience and there's tons of available parking outside, I liked how quiet things were inside as well. read more

Several things..... 1. Bakery is terrible. 2. Deli. Recent change in all their deli sandwiches. They now do not put lettuce and tomatoes on any of their premade deli sandwiches. Yet, they still charge the same for the items. Tuna sandwich....no lettuce. Sub sandwich...only meat and cheese no more lettuce and tomatoes. I will never go to Cub Foods again. read more

I visited this store today and they had ONE (1) cash register open and there was a line ut the self checkout was totally empty, I may have had too many items in my cart but given there was no one else in the self checkout I did not see the problem, the Cub foods automaton guarding the self check pout told me I could not use it. This store has been going down hill over the last coup[le of years, the customer service for the most part sucks, the shelves are often not stocked with commonly purchased items. The store seems to be getting a little dingy and not as well maintained as it used to be. I am done with this Cub, there are much better run stores equally close so I will never darken their door again. I am just sorry that I cannot raste it lower than one star. read more

I was staying at the hotel across the street, and I popped in for one specific reason: to check out the cheese selection. I found it to be quite good for a grocery store without a full cheese counter. I found several new cheeses, including a couple local goat cheeses. I had signed up for a Cub membership some months ago, though, and when I tried to use it, the account proved nonfunctional. The overseeing cashier gave me a slip of paper with a number to call customer care and otherwise didn't provide help. This was my first time in a Cub store and it didn't leave me with a good impression of their site or store. read more

If you are looking for a big chain-type supermarket in SLP, Cub has got you covered. I live about 10 minutes away and have been here a couple of times. They do not have many organic and niche brands, but for the big, mass-market stuff, they definitely have you covered. The store is not huge, but seems to have a wide selection of things and covers all the bases. On one trip, I bought a bunch of things I ended up not needing and when I went to return things, they did not cross-examine, work me over, etc., just let me return things. Nice and easy. read more

10/4/22: Came here to buy cases of water during our trip since Minneapolis city water leaves little to be desired! It wasn't crowded and we didn't need a club card to get the sales price of $3.99 for a 24 pack of spring water. I liked the self check out cash register as well. It's across the street from The West End shopping center with plenty of free parking. So for us, it was conveniently located. Overall, it was a good, clean store with no complaints here. Nothing special either, but if we're staying in the area next time, this is where we'll get our cases of water. read more

We used to have a Cub in my hometown and I was an avid shopper. But it left town years ago. It was nice walk down memory lane to be in a Cub again. We felt Covid comfortable and there were many signs announcing their mask requirements. Happy to say at 8pm on a Friday compliance was very high. Love the Cub's huge candy selection plus they are open 24 hours. But the beer section is pathetic. It is literally just 2 shelves. I saw 3 6-packs in total. That is just terrible and sad. I know the liquor section has to close at a certain time, but the least they can do is make some more beer options available. read more

I had an good experience here back on my trip to the golden valley. with the lack of coffee shops in the area/walking distance, this grocery store saved my butt! I will be brutally honest that I had zero idea what cub foods was until I walked in, but left with a pile of groceries to get me through my week stay. this location is super clean and super bright, my only complaint was the mouthy cashier who didn't believe me when I said no to signing up to the points program because I didn't live in America...very rude! something to the tune of "that's what they all say sirrrrrr" lots of parking and transit options for this store. very happy that this location was across the street from the hotel I was staying at...saved my butt for sure! read more

Cub Foods is a market chain found in Minnesota and Iowa. This particular market is located in the same plaza as the Noodle Company and Icon Theaters and also close by Homewood Suites. My husband and I stopped by this market on a Sunday evening, after 10 pm looking to purchase bottled water and other food staples while vacationing in Minnesota. What struck me was the incredibly large selection of frozen pizzas. Being from Southern California, that seems to be unheard of (not even Costco can brag such large amounts and they sell things in bulk). But after doing a little research, I found out that Minnesota is the capital for frozen pizzas. The reason is that there are so many frozen pizza brands that came from Minneapolis (including Tortino's, Red Barron, Tony's, Giovannis, Freschetta). So it shouldn't be surprising that in Minnesota, this state has the highest purchase in frozen pizzas. Pretty cool fact to know (but you Minnesota folks already knew that... this information is more for my Yelp friends who aren't aware). Knowing this information made me want to purchase a few frozen pizza brands (I was definitely impressed with some of the gourmet looking pizzas in this freezer section). Anyways, on this visit, we ended up purchasing some fruit, a bag of pretzels (for a road trip we were going to take the next day) and a 24 pack of bottled water (sometimes it is just better to purchase those individual bottles in a pack instead of the gallon bottles). This store itself was clean and the layout was fairly easy to navigate through. Service was fine when we went to the register to pay, no complaints. There is plenty of parking in the plaza, so should be easy when you arrive. Overall, we had a good experience and would shop at this location again if we lived in the area. read more

This cub foods is in St Louis park near the Homewood Suites and Doubletree hotels. It has a liquor store attached - cub liquor. They sell locals here and have a pick 6 rack area. You can also buy 4 packs of surly here - even the seasonals! I was just impressed to get my husband craft beer by the bottle. Four Firkins closed so I had to find somewhere else. The grocery part is clean and amazing too. read more

While i have run into cashiers that know how to look at you, smile, and thank you, most (especially those in the Customer Service) have major (bad) attitudes. i know these jobs pay poorly, and i get it. But can you do your best at the job you are in so you have a chance at promotion and better pay? i am also in the grocery biz and I KNOW how hard dealing with the public can be, but it's allot harder when your vibe is nasty. i came in a good mood, and after a stop at Customer Service, i left angry that i gave that store one dime of my hard-earned cash. read more

One star for losing my cake order. I showed them the confirmation email with order number and they sort of shrugged their shoulders. BC I am really lucky, they had the cake we had ordered in the display case bc have you ever served a chocolate cake with generic flowers to a girl expecting a marble cake and a specific design? Thankfully I have not, but it isn't a risk I'd take again with Cub. Also, why did they have to get rid of all of Rainbow's best things? How did this location turn so quickly from the best Rainbow ever to a substandard Cub? (Yes I've been to other Cubs, and other Cub-bows including Uptown) This Cub sucks. This is my favorite cub I had been to. It definitely got a lot of the traits from being a Rainbow before, so I was pleased to see they kept the layout the same. This is the easiest cub to shop. They lay out the produce in such a manner that you actually get excited to walk into it, rather than walking down a lane of promoted processed items before hitting the produce. The selection here is fantastic! If only all the other cubs could be laid out like this one! read more

A convenient location and generally a nice store...but as they say the devil is in the details. Produce quality is mediocre, specialty departments (deli/bakery/meat) are often out of things and never have any staff on hand. Speaking of, the store generally suffers from being understaffed. They always have "now hiring" signs out, but turnover must be high. Expect long lines to check out and cashiers that damage your product when they crush it on the belt. read more

Some wonder why I'd bother reviewing this normal ole grocery store. Well, they have a salad bar. And if you know anything about me, I love a salad bar (and I'll murder kittens for pancakes, but, no pancakes in this review). Truth be told, it's not as good as it was when it was a Rainbow, but, all good things must come to an end I suppose. 5 types of lettuce - iceberg, spring mix, spinach, kale and romaine - and all pretty fresh when I got there at 11am today. They have the normal salad fixings, eggs, olives, carrots, peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, and cheese. Also included are some deli meats, turkey, chicken and ham. Some random lovely items, crumbled blue cheese. F'ing love some blue cheese crumbles on a salad. Dried cranberries and berries in general. Again, this is one of those strange things where even with all the veggies, some tartness from berries works well to me and I appreciate some berry action in my salad. Lastly, some guac... which doesn't cost extra haha ;) I don't care for the lack of dressings. They've got the basics, and a vinaigrette or two, and that's about it. Nothing too fancy or special, although the balsamic works enough. I really miss the seafood options they used to have as a Rainbow. So, if you're in the area, hard pressed for time and don't care to spend $12-$15 on a salad at some sit down place in the West End shopping mess, you can pop into Cub, load up a plastic bin and mow through your own custom made roughage. I'll try and get some pics next time I'm not hard pressed for time to show off some of the freshness. read more

I call this Cub location Cub-bow, because it used to be a Rainbow before Roundy's got out of the MN grocery biz. It was one of the best Rainbow locations around anywhere. Now that Cub has taken over it is Cub's store to screw up. Hopefully that won't happen, but I have my eye on you new store management - don't mess up a good thing. So far the produce section is still looking good but the bakery is pretty much lost to me. Cub baked goods all tend to be way too sweet. I don't want my wheat hamburger bun to be sweet. I don't want a loaf of french bread to be sweet. But that is how Cub makes their baked goods. Rainbow had a really good wheat bun recipe. Cub does not. I don't eat at McD's or Subway because their bread/buns are too sweet, so I won't be buying anything from Cub's bakery for the same reason. I don't buy meat/poultry from Cub or Rainbow so I can't make any observations there. I did grab some cat food today and the dude's favorite brand/flavors were on sale so that was a score. So far so good Cub-bow, but I am watching (and get a better bread recipe). read more

I went to rainbow and ended up at Cub. I was a sad panda. This used to be the best rainbow in the state of MN. Now it is an okay Cub. At least they kept the design of the building, and just changed the signs. It is still somewhat clean, but the bathrooms already resemble other dirty cub foods. Its no rainbow. The produce is not what it used to be, the bakery is smaller and selection is questionable. The meat/fish still looked good and most aisles were organized. Lets see what will happen. read more

Tell me what's wrong with this picture... Because I'm in the general neighborhood I shop in the West End location. That makes sense I suppose. The quality of the veggies and fruit are most often below par with other stores but the prices are typically higher (with the exception of Lund's/Byerly's) than the competitors. The same is true for other areas of the store (my most recent experience simply reminded me of the fruit and vegetables). The place just isn't that clean. I am absolutely certain a team member has NEVER said hello or asked if I needed any assistance...and that includes yesterday's experience in the bakery/salad bar general area. I have often initiated a chat with the cashier (as I did yesterday...she was MISERABLE) as that group generally appears to hate what they're doing. Oh, and by the way, customers bag their own groceries in spite of the "non-discounted" prices structure unless a high school group (or something similar) happens to be there on a fund raising effort and they'll do the job. Whenever that occurs the cashiers are truly peeved with their role and do a poor job of hiding their frustrations with the folks attempting to help their respective organizations. After this little writing exercise it's more clear to me. Regardless of proximity I've decided to shop elsewhere. It will be at a place where the staff is interested in providing a smile, assistance and, at worst, a checking out experience that includes a mindless yet courteous conversation. An interest in developing and displaying basic skills of friendliness and hospitality are clearly not priorities at the West End location and perhaps nowhere else in the company. Perhaps Cub can take a look at hiring practices, training and follow up to training efforts as, from my perspective, they've clearly failed on all counts. read more

I like that this store is well organized and very clean and tidy. However, the service there leaves a lot to be desired. They call he selves a " no frills " grocer, but I'm less than thrilled that the customer has to sack their own groceries, to ..me that is just good customer service. If I have to sack my own stuff, then the prices should be significantly lower. Aldi has much lower prices , and a far better system. Although, Aldi's selection is very limited. I just think that if a grocer expects the customer to do some of the work, than a discount of some sort should be given. End of story...... read more

Horrible customer service! I didn't have my rewards card and they wouldn't help me. The heavy set white female cashier just threw an ad down and said if I find the deals in ad she'll give them to me. Quite possibly the worse store experience I've ever had. They treat their customers as if they are doing their customer's a favor being just being there. I will gladly pay more for groceries at a Lunds/Byerlys or Jerry's before going back to this store to give them my patronage. It really went downhill ever since it converted from Rainbow to Cub. I like cub and there selections of foods and it's really clean and tidy. The bakery does a great job making their cakes. The thing that bothers me about this store is the creepy employees. I was at the self check out and an employee was staring and trying to talk to me and he was just wandering around. I ignored him. As I left the store, he followed me out and was staring at me and made a comment about my dress and how my slip was showing. Well, it was a windy night and only an inch of it was showing and he was really creeping me out. I was practically running to my car and trying to stay where it was well light. I called the manager about this matter and he will be looking into it hopefully. Harassing customers is really unprofessional and inappropriate. You shouldn't harass a customer no matter how they are dressed. There have been other occasions I've dealt with creepy employees from this store as well such as these guys that go outside and smoke a cigarette and stare. It's rude to stare but, of course they wouldn't know that because they are losers that work in a grocery store and can't get a job anywhere else. Learn some manners and some RESPECT!!! read more

Stopped by to check out this former Rainbow now Cub--there are a few things that they need to work on. First, I'm a big fan of the Cub bakery...this bakery is not the same as other Cub's. I was very disappointed with the donut selection, as they seem to be a carryover from Rainbow and nowhere near the same I'm used to from Cub. The other weird thing is the small checkout counters--it's impossible for two different customers to bag their own groceries at the same time. Had to wait for a lady who was moving at a snails pace to bag her groceries. Hopefully they continue to improve this store. read more

For my first experience in a Minneapolis grocery chain, as a new comer to the city, I won't be frequenting this store again and will frequent other chains before I frequent a CUB Foods again. The checkers were incredibly rude and inattentive (I interrupted their conversation, and they didn't greet me at all.) As I proceeded to check out the checker wouldn't assist with a problem as I was swiping my card and turned her back to me to continue her conversation. This young entitled child needs a lesson in customer service skills and the management of this establishment needs to wake up because they are losing business. So much for Minnesota nice. read more

I recently have started shopping at Cub to cut back on grocery expenses. Prior to this I shopped at Byerlys, Fresh Thyme and a few things from Target. Every time I go to this Cub in St. Louis Park (in the West End) I have a bad experience. The volunteer baggers are incompetent and have ruined several grocery items. Apparently these volunteers are typically fundraisers, with absolutely no training in bagging groceries. The cashier is supposed to ask if I would like to have the volunteer baggers bag my groceries, but on about half of my visits they do not ask. Because of bad experiences with the volunteers, now I insist on bagging my own groceries. This is difficult because the tables are set up in a way that you can't reach your groceries over this huge shelf sticking out that has the bags on it. You have to lean way over and stretch to reach your groceries. And if you do bag your own groceries, the cashiers do not wait for you to finish before starting to ring up the next customer. So you end up with multiple customers' groceries all over the place and people trying to sort through what is theirs while everyone is trying to bag their groceries at the same time. The receipts are illegible and never have enough ink. This seems trivial, but seriously it's been four visits in a row that my receipt is illegible. One cashier charged me for the wrong kind of apples, ones that were twice as expensive as the ones I purchased. On my last visit, my cashier had such terrible body odor that I could smell it across the counter. The parking lot is dark at night. There are not enough lights, and the parking lot is dark which feels unsafe. The survey is useless. Sometimes at the bottom of your receipt there is a link to a survey (if you can read it). I submitted one last week complaining about the volunteer baggers who ruined three of my grocery items, and the manager and cashier who did not even acknowledge me or try to help. No one has responded to my survey. On the positive side, it is rarely crowded which is nice. The layout is decent and the the selection is usually good. I've also heard good things about their gas discounts at Holiday, although haven't tried it. The prices are hit-or-miss. Usually cheaper than Byerlys, but there are many items that are more expensive than at Target. I would say overall my grocery expenses have gone down, despite some items that are more expensive than competitors. However I'm not sure it's worth the savings for the aggravation of shopping at this store. read more
