Sweet Lebanon w/smoked cheddar and jalapeño mustard
    Leslie S.

I had an amazing sandwich Friday at Cuba Bakery and Deli. I don't normally eat processed meats, and especially not bologna (I was grossed out as a kid by my brother frying it and eating it with ketchup!), but I was very intrigued by the phrase "Sweet Lebanon" on the list of meats that I could choose from for my sandwich. I figured, why not, I've never seen this meat before, and who knows if I ever would again. Sweet Lebanon is bologna that is smoked and, yes, is sweet, just a bit. Just imagine if honey ham and salami had an all-beef baby! This was very thinly sliced on my sandwich, and I added smoked cheddar and jalapeño mustard to go with it on my honey-oat bread - totally delicious! I also picked up a loaf of excellent jalapeño cheddar bread and some big soft chewy molasses cookies with icing. They had many other cookie choices there, along with other breads and cinnamon rolls, and I imagine they were all wonderful. They also had lots of gluten-free goodies. Best of all, it's all made with natural and "real" ingredients! My favorite way to go! When you go in to order a sandwich, they give you a sheet of paper with all of your choices for breads, meats, cheeses and condiments. My sandwich was ready in less than five minutes even though it was lunchtime. Prices were very reasonable, so check them out if you are in the area!

Best pastries in the are area. Now open Monday thru Saturday at their new location behind super 8. Right on I-44. Still have all their goodies off sandwiches made to order, frozen pies, Amish items now added in local farm fresh items...ie fresh dairy, some fresh fruit, local meats, etc.

I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon while out and about in Cuba, MO. They had a small selection of fresh breads and cookies. They had a lot of gluten free baking products. There was a freezer with some gluten free baked goods and some take home and bake pies. There was a very nice selection of jarred pickled items, none of which they made. Also there was a deli counter where you could have sandwiches made and lots of tables to sit and dine. I bought a package of molasses crinkle cookies and a jar of spicy chow chow. The cookies were good.

Great cookies and cakes. Lots of home made pickles and jams. Really a fabulous place to stop on your way too or from the rivers.

I had eaten there with my daughter, about ten years ago, which is WAY too long. I used to buy their 'Take and Bake' Pies at Harter House, but my local store no longer carries them. They've always been good. Why did it take me so long to come back? I'm usually traveling with my husband and he prefers BBQ or a burger when we're traveling. I'm glad I mentioned it Saturday, when we were looking for a place to eat lunch! We all loved it so much that we ate there again the next day, on our way home. Between us, we tried both kinds of Chicken Pot Pie (Traditional and Mushroom), the Chicken Salad on Croissant, the Tomato Soup, and the Bacon Quiche. Each entree was served with two hot rolls. I didn't have room for the rolls, but those who did said they were good. Dessert? You may have to take it with you, but they're packaged well. The quiche reheats well in the microwave. Those who tried it said it was the best quiche ever, and ordered it again the second day, so I took a piece home to try. I haven't tried my Cherry Raspberry yet, but the others said the Coconut Cream (whipped cream) and Custard were wonderful. I did try one of his cinnamon/sugar pie crust cookies. They tasted just like my mama used to make. He said he's planning to sell those at the Harter House Stores in the Springfield area, so I'll be looking for them. He's also bringing a truck to Harter House in Springfield on Eastgate, occasionally, so I'll be watching their Facebook Page so I can buy a piece of pie without going to Rolla. Good pie crust makes a pie, and luckily, you can find them in the freezer case at Harter House and Price Cutter Stores. Look for "Mickey's Pie Crust", ready to put in the oven and bake.

Every month or so I get this craving for their Oreo pie. It's so good! But here at this location (Waynesville) they don't give you the proper amount of portion for it being almost $9! I bought a WHOLE slice pie and it was so small! There's a whole and a half slice. If this was a whole I'm wondering what would be the half slice. A whole slice is $1 more than the half. I know there's inflation but this is just ridiculous! The Rolla one gives you the proper amount for the price. So I suggest skipping this and if you're in the Rolla area to go there. Plus, they have a full dinning area and they serve food as well :) To the slice of pie here in Waynesville, maybe train your employees better or have a pie size chart. Because it's always a different slice size every time I come one but this time was the smallest I got for it being a WHOLE! Anyways hope you don't lose business by scamming people ‍ *Covered up the name just in case it was the person that served me and I don't want their name out there.

This review is for the cafe here and not for the grocery store: I was surprised with the number of options: diner foods (burgers, fries), Chinese, BBQ, fried chicken, etc. We got an orange chicken meal with fried rice and an egg roll for $5.99. I would bet the container weighed close to 2.5lbs. The food was good. We also got 2 chicken tenders for $4. The breading was very soft and the kids didn't even finish them. I also added 3 Icees to our order and paid around $15 total. Other people in our ground got fried chicken meals and burgers/fries. Staff were friendly. All in all, it was ok. It didn't knock my socks off but was ok for the money.

We was there on Friday Dec 19 around 3pm. We had never actually eaten in the store. Someone told us the burgers are good. So we decided to order. First off the boy who took our order wasn't very friendly, and acted like he would rather be anywhere but there helping us. After placing our order, we sat down in the eating area. I just want to say, we was shocked. We would've just left if we hadn't already paid for food. There was only 4 other people there sitting. All of the unoccupied tables (including the one we sat at over by the wall next to the soda machine), were dirty with trash, and food crumbs. Even the chairs had food crumbs in them. The counter where the cook handed us our food was covered in food crumbs, and food residue. The cook didn't even act like he cared. He just sat our food on top of it all. We watched him cooking our food, and he was acting like he didn't even want to be there. Our napkin dispenser was covered in dust, and even had some kind of dried food on it. The whole time we were there, there was between 2 and 4 boys standing around behind the counter/register doing nothing. And we even witnessed the cook picking a dish towel up off the counter and wiping his forehead off with it, and then laying it back down on the counter! Something needs to be done about this! The whole area was dirty, and unsanitary. I will say that the rest of the store was clean, but we absolutely will not be spending our money in the hot food area again! Also I tried to contact them through the store email contact on their website 3 different times since then. Every time I try it says unable to send, try again later. We had burgers and onion rings. The onion rings were good, but the burgers were overcooked and crispy on the bottom.
