There are two very important keys to a good Cuban place, the Cubano sandwich and the cafe con leche. Every ingredient of the Cubano sandwich was fresh, high quality and delicious! It was meaty and somehow very light/not oily at all. Cafe con leche was perfect. The orange juice is legit OJ, squeezed from real oranges with no sugar added, it was delicious and super refreshing. Flan was not good at all, as it was a bit tasteless, though with a slight bitter/burnt taste and consistency was not creamy as I believe they should be. Great neighborhood spot in Lakeview. We got the Cuban sandwich and the fried rice dish. Both were excellent, very fresh. They even had the glass bottled cokes so we had to get one of those too, they just taste better. The service was quick and the staff was friendly. This place is wonderful. I do not normally post reviews but me and my partner came across this place after the farmers market and I was very happy. After coming back from Miami we were on a specific kick. The sandwiches here were sooo good. Easily placed itself as one of the best Cubanos I've had in the city. And this is something I take serious as I love a good Cuban sandwich. The staff was very nice and the coconut mojito was surprisingly (and I mean that) super delicious. It's kind of muddled between some other buildings but I found their atmosphere to be very nice and inviting. Counter service style. Not traditional service. But the menu is well rounded with options. Service was very slow. Not that they were busy, but it seems the cook is on his own time schedule. I ordered appetizers and an entrée. The chicken empanada was tasty but too much dough not enough filling. The chicken with rice was OK and could have been better. The lavender margaritas were a fun way to start the evening. For appetizers, we had the plantain chips and the gambas al ajillo. This is a really nice casual spot to grab lunch or dinner with beautiful decor on the inside. I've been here 3 times and have always enjoyed my time. The staff is very kind and will answer any questions you have on the menu. My favorite item I've ordered is the ceviche, tastes fresh and love the crispy plantains chips that come with it. We saw this place when we ate at another place across the street. My wife, having a more intimate familiarity with Cuban cuisine than me, seemed excited about what she saw on the menu. So we came back to try. We ordered the Guava pancakes, a Cuban Omelette sandwich, and tostones. We sipped our mildly sweet cortaditos while we waited. The pancakes came and my wife said they were tough and dry. I enjoyed them more than she. I thought the guava was nice enough, and I thought it was not overpowering, and kept the pancake soft enough. While we shared the pancake, it took more than 45 minutes for the sandwich and tostones. I had to go and ask about them. When they asked the kitchen through the window, there was a shared look between the cooks as if to say, "I thought he was doing it." I couldn't hear them over the music, but that was my total inference. Eventually, the sandwich came. Not sure what took 45+ minutes for that. Another 5 minutes for the tostones. We saw tables enter and get served in the meanwhile. It was pleasant enough but the food was only ok considering the wait. The order of guava pancakes were regular pancakes nothing special except the slab of guava sauce they spread on them. I was expecting guava flavored pancakes for some reason, so I can make regular pancakes at home and dab with guava sauce and 'tada' I just made what they did. the servers were really nice :) but Service was particularly slow considering there were only about 6 people including my husband and I. The decor is super cute so it's cool for ordering a cortado and snapping some pictures. Cubaneo It's probably best to dine here by youself or with one other person, since they ignore the fact that your group is dining together and prepare and serve each order for your table as it comes up. They do know who is dining together, because you order on your phone with the QR code for your specific table. So, our group of six got our dinners at four different times. One order was the wrong item and had to be reordered. When the girl was serving this same person, she spilled the drink. She dabbed it with a towel, leaving the table wet and a puddle on the floor, which was never cleaned up. When I tried to order usung the QR code, the app required that I set up a Cubaneo account. I didn't want to do that, so I had to do a verbal order anyway. I asked the group if it was OK if I got the BBQ ribs because the menu said they take 25 minutes. A male server said, "Oh, it won't take that long," so I ordered them. At least a half hour later everyone else was finished with their meal, so I said to the girl serving us, "Don't forget the ribs. The order will be free, right?" (The tab was $21 plus tax.) She smiled and said "Yes." After we left and were walking to our car the male server caught up with us and said to me, "You didn't close out your check." I told him the girl agreed it would be free because everyone else was through eating and I still didn't have my meal. He said, "She doesn't know English." I said, "They should have waited on the other orders so we could eat together, so the ribs should be free." I did leave a tip on the table. He didn't argue the point and returned to the restaurant. I wouldn't have ordered ribs if he hadn't said they would take less than 25 minutes and my friends would all be done with their meals. Five of us liked our dinners, but the friend who got the steak said it was nothing special. The ribs were tender and tasty, served with rice instead of fries, at my request. Nothing else came with the ribs, such as a Cuban version of cole slaw. Those who ordered drinks liked them. Maybe the trick is to order before you get to the restaurant if you're getting something that takes a while to cook, and your dining partners are getting something quicker. Or ask them to serve your group all at the same time or within a few minutes of one another. I'd probably go back with one or two others. The servers were nice, but they didn't manage a group of six well. read more

Don't even bother ordering their Cuban sandwich and you can easily tell why based on the photos. Literally no meat on the other half of my sandwich. The moment we received our food we told the server about the disproportionate amount of meat and she said she would let the kitchen know- which never happened. We then flagged another server who was very condescending and replied saying, " I didn't make it." No apologies, didn't offer to take it back to the kitchen so that more meat could be added. Instead they told us to talk to the cook directly, not even sure why there are servers if they cannot communicate with the kitchen. Was I supposed to walk up to the kitchen counter myself and talk to the cook? All of the staff members were very dismissive and refused to make things right. Other things to note is that the wait time for food can be long, but that is understandable. What is not understandable is having poor costumer service and dismissive behavior. I went here for the first time today and was excited to try this cute neighborhood spot. The decor was adorable, but things went south fast. They do not have enough staff, so all orders must be placed through an app. If you have a question, you have to order a server to your table through the app. You can't flag one down. They purposely do not make eye contact. I ordered a cubano, fries and an iced coffee. The sandwich and coffee arrived, but no fries. My server didn't say anything about the missing $6 fries. I ate half the sandwich and then ordered a server in the app. She came and said she couldn't tell me where my fries were and that I should write a bad review about the kitchen online. I finished my sandwich and still no fries. I asked a server at the counter to remove them from my bill and she turned around and pointed at the kitchen. Two people in the kitchen said something to each other and looked at me, but no one said anything to me. I asked again if someone would remove the fries from my bill and everyone turned around. It was insane! I had to raise my voice and ask if ANYONE would please talk to me. At that point my server took the fries off of my bill and told me to write a bad review about the kitchen online.
