I was in EZ Self Storage in Howell,NJ for 35 months in a 10 X 15 storage unit. They ruined almost…read moreall of my things. My unit was 100% inside, with not one wall even touching the outside of the facility. I had to go down two hallways in order to get to my unit. I was surrounded by other units on every side. There was at least a foot of water/flood damage on all of my items touching the floor. For reference, I was storage unit D140. In the course of my years there, I had no notification of a facility problem. My movers and I found a ton of my items water damaged on the day that I was supposed to be excited to move into my new home. I very sadly moved my ruined items into the garage of my new house and did not bring any of my furniture inside. I understand that their contract states that all liability falls onto me - but I think it is reasonable to assume that my items would stay dry when I was not near any large body of water and my particular unit was not near or facing the outside. If flooding at least a foot and losing all of my items was a possibility, why would I have trusted EZ Self Storage with the contents of my condo? Wouldn't I have thrown everything away instead of going into this destructive storage unit, because then I would have lost my stuff but at least not paid rent to someone for things I threw out anyway? I spent 35 months at $140.17/month in their facility + cost of monthly insurance, which in total was about $160 per month. I notified the business immediately upon finding the damage. I also worked with the regional manager (name withheld for privacy) of EZ Self Storage and she offered me a 3 month refund as a gesture for my damaged items. Three months (without the monthly insurance cost) was $420.51. I spent $4905.95 in rent alone to them. A three month offering was insulting. I requested to split rent, and said that I would accept $2400 for a rent refund. It has been just over a year and EZ Self Storage did not ever offer more than $420.51, so now I think it is worth my time to warn other people from using their facility. When they ruin your things, you will be out thousands of dollars and your personal items.

I called customer service. They promised to call me back with Someone from a higher up and never did and when I called back, they told me to try to locate the district Manager But would not provide me a phone number. Not to mention my $50 unit went up to $86 in no time flat. When I explained to the on-site manager, what was going on, no one could give me a straight answer. She said try back after 3 PM. When I arrived at the facility it was closed but I had no problem accessing my storage unit. It could not possibly have been any easier to load my items (backed the UHaul right up to a garage, loaded everything onto the provided carts, fit all of my belongings in the elevator in one trip, and easily loaded into the storage room). This place is great! My only concern is that renters can access the facility after hours, so the security of my belongings is dependent on trusting the other renters. If someone else comes in after hours and doesn't properly lock up (doesn't lock the garage, for instance), the security of everyone's belongings is compromised. I wish there was a way to address this because it is a bit concerning (perhaps auto-locking garages that close and lock after a set amount of time?). Aside from that, everything was great! Highly recommended!

After seeing such great reviews online we decided to book with pick and pack. This was easily the worst, most expensive, and most frustrating move I've ever experienced. We moved out of our 2-bed, 2-bath apartment on Sunday, August 2nd. We've moved this exact same furniture multiple times over the last five years, moved that were much farther away and with multiple stops. (I'm talking two stops over 40 minutes away plus a new apartment 40 minutes away from that, walk up to walk up). This move was one apartment with a walk up to a new apartment with an elevator 20 minutes apart. lt has never cost this much or gone this badly.They estimated $1,600-$1,800 for 6-7 hours which was similar to our last moves, but the final bill came out to a whopping $2,200, $2,500 with tip. That's $500-$700 more than far more complicated moves we've done in the past. The crew moved much slower than previous movers I have experienced. They kept disappearing for 15 minutes at a time, and they actually charged us for their lunch break, which is standard, except they were gone over an hour and there was only 20 minutes of travel time.The lack of respect for our things was unbelievable. They completely cracked my antique bar cart handles and wheel, cracked one of our lamps, and my dog's crate. Worst of all, my jewelry armoire was locked prior to our move but must have been pried open because the lock is completely broken and bent now. I haven't even finished unpacking yet and I'm terrified of what else I'm going to find ruined.On top of the damage, they literally left multiple pieces of furniture behind at our old place. They claimed some pieces couldn't be moved safely, which is a total lie because previous movers handled them just fine (Again, for less money and less time EVEN PACKING THEM FOR US) . Other items they just abandoned without saying a word. (there were things we had them leave, these were things they were absolutely supposed to take). They also promised they would arrange my living room furniture they had to move due to space to back where I wanted it at the end of the day, but after taking all day, they just left without doing it. They also did an awful job putting our furniture back together creating even more work for us It is incredibly fishy how this place has so many good reviews online. Now I know why: they make you fill out a survey right before they leave, before you even have a second to look around and notice that your stuff is broken or missing. Again these piece have all been moved multiple times by different movers (all good experiences) with no damage.
