Please review these photos before considering doing business with Extra Space Storage in Cranbury. I pay over $300 a month for what I was guaranteed was a secure unit. I recently visited my unit after a few years and there's clear water damage from within the facility. There's dirt from the ceiling that I was assured by Extra Space staff would not fall into my space. There's several spider webs as well. I've rented many storage units in the last 20 years, when in college and living in apartments in Philadelphia and New York City. I've used both Public Storage and another Extra Space facility. I've never paid more for a unit than my space in Cranbury and have never had these problems. Shame on this company for taking my monthly fee for 7+ years and not fulfilling their guarantee of fee for service. I will be looking into legal action. read more

139% PRICE INCREASE OVER 6 YEARS!!!!!!!!! I began my storage experience with ESS on 8/17/17. At that time I rented a 5' x 15' unit for $110.39 monthly. The price includes the unit cost + $11.00 for insurance and taxes for a 1st floor heated indoor space. Six years and 1 month later (9/10/23), after the various price increases over the 6 years, I was paying $264.77, which represents an increase of over 139% or an average of 23% per year!!!!! Do you know anything that has gone up 23% on average each year over the last 6 years??? If you plan on staying for some period of time, think long and hard whether the stuff in your unit will be worth it to you with the price increases that you can expect to receive. Here's a tip-In my the case the price increases started pretty quickly after the introductory rate. If you're going to stay for an extended period of time you might want to check periodically as to what the best rate is at the time, and then rent a new unit for the new lower introductory rate, move your stuff to the new unit and cancel the old higher priced unit and save yourself a lot of money. I was taken aback that my storage facility was in a slightly different location. It's only a mile away but would have been nice to have known sooner. The more disturbing thing was that you were required to buy insurance which adds an additional $10+ monthly. Then they tell you that you need a lock for your storage. Had I been informed sooner, I would have brought one from home. They sell their proprietary locks for about $15. Instead I drove up to CVS to get one for $4. The storage facility was clean and the staff was kind. But would have been a better experience if I had known sooner about the hidden costs. read more

The people there were absolutely incredible and helpful. As for the service, some of their storage is not located at the main location and is 5 miles away which is crazy, but they have similar storage options available at the main site. They honored my internet pricing even though I didn't take the unit which I had reserved over the internet. I know that's not that big a deal, but not everyone does that, ya know? I've used their facility 3 times since I rented the storage space and each time it was easy to access my locker. read more

Unit was clean upon move in. I was not told that the alarm in the unit was not wired, I found out myself. Unit was fixed but this property is not fence secured. They told a fence is being put in soon. Do not recommend until fencing is done read more

Pro: The facility is clean. Con: The owner / management is terrible. I have had a parking spot for 1 year and a storage unit for 9 months. Opening the trailer account was pleasant and I was told when I came for a storage space I could use my own lock. When I came for the storage unit the owner was at the desk and tried to trick me into buying their lock set for $15 or $20. When I told her that I have my own and was told I could use it she belittled the previous rep as not knowing what he was talking about and insisting that I must buy it. When I asked if she was going to deny me a storage space if if did not buy her lock she said "no" and completed the sale. I too had a similar issue this past January as another reviewer. I went to my storage space and found my $30 combination Master lock was gone and their lock set installed. I did receive a letter but the letter said in a generic way that they were changing lock sets on the units, which to me meant that they were changing the lock sets for those locks purchased from them. There was no lock set on my unit since I had my own padlock. It made no mention of removing customer supplied locks and especially not that they would cut them and throw them out. When I had no access to my unit I tried to go into the office and the sign said they were open but no one was answering the phone and the door was locked. I stood outside in the cold for 35mins when a resident of the house on the premises came out to walk a dog. They got the staff member who was at another location and I was given a replacement combination lock after I complained. I'll be moving my stuff out in a few months but if I wasn't relocating I'd definitely find a different facility. read more

THIS PLACE SUCKS !!! I usually don't write reviews but... 1) They refused to reinburse me when I had no access to my unit (they were repairing the door). 2) Water damage & told staff about it. 3) Gave key for a week to fix the light - "I didn't have time to get to it" 4) After roof leak "repair" still more water damage. 5) No, solution offer & no offer for a different unit. 6) Called corporate. I was told that some managers are sticklers for reinbursements. Today is the following week from corporate message & still no response. It is a good place TO AVOID read more
