after storing my entire world of belongings with cubesmart, i moved out last week on wednesday. much to my shock and disgust, my indoor, climate-controlled storage unit had been infested by rats and everything was damaged. everything. i had to literally get rid of everything. i no longer have a bed, a couch, carpets, or furniture. i literally was left with nothing. and the super fun part......? cubesmart denies any responsibility at all. read more

Terrible service. Dirty property. Office often unattended. Price hikes that far exceed any cost-of-living increases. Despite my repeated requests, obstinate clerk Liz Rojas refused to allow me access to my storage locker. She unilaterally and illegally "deleted me from the system" despite my being paid up-to-date (with 6 years perfect payment record). The snarky reason she gave was that there was no lock on my unit (I had removed it less than 24 hours previously.) She blatantly lied about trying to contact me. I am furious with Rojas and this company. Do not use CubeSmart! There are better and much cheaper alternatives nearby. read more

Only wish I could have given a ZERO. I am still reeling from the conversation turned confrontation with the general manager who lives on the property. I told him I had found a cigarette butt on my table which was covered with a sheet (was not there last month when I visited) and then also found a bunch of butts in the back of the unit in the corrugated track. The cigarette on the table was clearly thrown over the wall while the others could have been passed through the metal corrugated wall where there are gaps at the back of the unit. This man immediately interrupted to spin his conspiracy theory. He told me it was not logical to think that someone picked my unit out of 200+ to throw butts into. When I asked how they got there, he insinuated either that I was lying, imagining it or had done it myself since no one else had a key to my lock. The defensiveness and belligerent attitude toward me and my friend was unexpected except to think he is covering his ass. I clearly do not feel safe there anymore due to fire risk and possible retribution. read more

As soon as I stepped out of my car the representative said he was taking someone to a unit and I "GOTTA" give him 10 min. "Um, no Sir, I don't GOTTA do anything!" He responded "Then don't!" Rip off. Be sure to review and copy your contract, ensure any specials are Written into contract. Rented a total of 3 units, down to 1 unit now. Never got the use of free truck for other two unit rentals. Unit Price continues to increase, made it clear I wanted a set monthly unit price when originally rented, has now increased on me 3 times. NOT happy with office adminstration or 800 line. On a good note, place is maintained very well, very clean, people are nice, just not happy regarding lack of communication and price increases. This has left a bad experience in my mind with what could have been a good experience. I would not recommend, if you do business with them ENSURE you have everything in writing, clear and precise. read more

Due to my nature of work, I move to new space often around my area. I had been frustrated by many moving companies in the past. My friend recommended I contact Cube Start Self Storage, but due to my past, I was reluctant. But eventually, I did because I had to move to a new space. I must say it was a fantastic experience. The response time was swift. The customer service was warm, concerned, and welcoming. I was stunned by how the staffs were knowledgeable and understanding, providing more than I expected. My properties got safely transported to my new space. I was blown away by the fact that they even helped me to pack, unpack and set into my new space. Once in a while, they call to inquire if am okay. Isn't it amazing? More so, their prices are product friendly. I recommend this company to anyone. I just moved here from another storage unit. Initially it was for the space. But there really is no comparison in terms of how neat and safe it is. Not to mention the managers clearly, clearly care - I was there yesterday and one of the mangers was walking the parking lot with a broom and dust pan. They care and it shows. read more

BAIT & SWITCH As a current customer, I accessed the CubeSmart website to look for a larger unit on May 15th. I signed in, and then searched for a larger unit and promotion. I clicked on the promotion for a 5x9 climate controlled unit for $74. a month, the promotion is for the first month free, with a one-time administration fee of $22. I accepted that promotion, added a check in time. I received a confirmation email, listing my name and account number, and the amount I was expected to pay at the time of my move in. I also received a call and spoke to the manager on the phone to confirm I would be coming in to get the larger unit, though no mention was made of the promotion. I went into rent the unit today, a Saturday, May 23rd, because this is the only time I have available to do the move in. When we started the process to rent the unit, an altogether different amount was related to me. I explained that I had a confirmation of a different amount, first month free with a $22 one-time administration fee. The manager explained that that was not what his system showed, nor would he be able to honor it, regardless if I showed him the confirmation email I had on my phone. As a current customer I am not eligible for any promotions. The manager explained that that rule is in place to stop customers getting new promotions all the time. I responded that I was getting a new, larger unit, and though I understand that usefulness of that rule, I was actually moving up, not to the same size unit, and the computer system offered me that promotion as a current customer. He repeatedly said at that point, that I could take what he was offering, and there was nothing else he could do for me. He could also contact his district manager on Tuesday, three days later, but that that was all he would do. I decided to call customer service at that point. The customer service representative I spoke to contradicted the store manager in that current customers are eligible for a promotion, if they are getting an additional unit or a larger unit. Which I was. Unfortunately her computer showed a different offer was available under my confirmation number, which was 10% off the price of the unit. Quite a bit different that the amount I was quoted. It did not matter that I had a confirmation email stating the amount I was to pay, and I cannot forward my confirmation email, nor send her an email with a screen shot of my confirmation email because their email system is internal. Unfortunately they cannot assist me either, but they can send the district manager an email, with no window of a response time. A callback could be an hour or next week. I was sitting in the parking lot ready to move into a new unit and no one was willing to honor the price I was confirmed to have with their email. Very conveniently, they had no record of that offer being available. And no one was immediately available to assist me with my issue. read more
