They were friendly and jovial as they worked even though the rain came halfway through. At that time, Adrian worked to bring each load to the door where Devaun stayed inside to receive the load so that the house did not have water and dirt tracked in. Pretty considerate, right? Instead of pointing blame at HH for an unfortunate experience, I'll take ownership of where I went wrong. First off, I'm a blue collar construction worker. I know how to move heavy things without damaging it. Unfortunately, my back can't hang anymore so this was my first time hiring a mover. Secondly, being a mover is hard work. It's very hard on the body. Not many kids say they want to be a mover when they grow up. There's two components here, the movers (or "contractors" as one mover established several times) and the owner. The owner was not on site. So... -Don't assume they will handle your furniture as gently as you would. -Don't assume they know the difference between IKEA and Crate & Barrel. -Don't assume they know the difference between veneers and solid wood. -Don't assume they care how hard you worked for your stuff. -Don't have a knee jerk reaction to a mover damaging your furniture right in front of you. Even if you're reacting to the situation and not the person doing the damage, this may be offensive. The conversation may abruptly turn to being "a black man in America". Suggestions: -Take pictures, videos, and have the movers verify there is no damage to your stuff before they touch it. (That way when you unwrap your TV 2 days later and the screen is busted, you have some ground to stand on for reimbursement.) -Have a backup plan to move your stuff. That way you can ask anyone you feel is being unprofessional or not up to the task to leave your property w/o finding yourself in a jam. Opinion: If you have high end furniture or are ocd about scratches and minor/extensive damage to your belongings, I would not recommend HH. They were a little too low brow for me. We paid for packing, which they did carefully. But they disregarded EVERY instruction (packed cable company equipment and our computer, also other items we specified should be left alone). Items were randomly distributed in boxes and food items were included in random boxes. In some box there is a bag of potatoes and a bag of onions. The TV remote and cords are not with the TVs. I highly recommend! Needed them to make 3 stops before we got to final destination. I hired because they were sending 3 men not 2, but there were actually 4 that showed up! Not only were they on time but they arrived early. They were in and out of all the stops quickly. The items included heavy elliptical and treadmill along with sofas and bed. They were careful and conscientious of items that had to be delivered to the second floor area. We've used them on two occasions (first moving belongings/furniture from a condo in Hollywood to a storage unit in Boca Raton, then recently moving the belongings/furniture from the storage unit to a house a few miles away from the facility). Both times I have been impressed with their professionalism, flexibility, reliability, and service. The company was very accommodating when it came to changing dates for the move, and doing so at the last minute yet. Very Efficient, Good Team, Reasonably Priced My son and I had lived in the same duplex in Palm Beach Gardens for 15 years. We had a lot of stuff. We both work, but our landlord wanted us out early, so he could start renovating. I started to look for movers before closing on our second floor condo in West Palm Beach. They arrived both days on time ( a few minutes early actually ) and were very professional . I stayed during the pack and move and they would come to me with any questions they had. They were very fast and very thorough. Lots of leather items and fine china were handled with extra care. They managed to work everything into our storage units and I was very impressed I interviewed the top 4 moving companies and Helping Hands was just slightly more in the quote but in the long run saved me a lot as the other companies would not put in writing the flat rate total cost so I may have ended up with extra fees. I have moved several times in the past few years so I have had my share of bad experiences. I am so happy I finally have my new moving company ( packing and unpacking too) *****moved out of storage and had them unpack Day one noticed baby oil was packed with a $60 bamboo pillow which had a dark cover on it. Owner pulled out of box we didn't notice damage. Later when I took cover off you could see the oil was absorbed into pillow and it smells like baby oil. Why was that even packed together?! I address it with owner he says cap must not have been on right and he didn't see damage. I explain with the cover off you can see damage and it shouldn't have been packed with oil in the first place. I tipped the guys $60 that day and lost a $60 pillow he refuses to address Days later when going through garage for something I notice one of my PAINTINGS with a frame in FOUR pieces was mysteriously placed in a bin with Valentine's Day decor. Again owner refuses to do anything Ten days later I'm looking for shoes under my master bed and notice the support slats are broken!! Sideways not supporting bed ! Then while I'm down there notice head to toe scratches and dings on bed frame. This was a NEW bed. This was its FIRST move. Send video to owner. He says it's ten days later. It looks like paint. "You had a million people in and out " etc etc I had a housekeeper to organize. NO one touched furniture his guys put together again refuses any responsibility. Learned a lesson here for sure. Would not use again. They were great until issues came up. Then it's just arguing and no resolution If the owner could resolve issues like offering to cover my handy man who will hopefully repair supports and use wood touch up on bed and replace the pillow and get frame fixed this wouldn't be a problem. I found Helping Hands when i was researching for movers for my relocation. Compared to other movers they gave me a fair quote with upfront charges and additional hourly charges if applicable. I was dealing with a gentleman named Dennis, who I found out after my move is the owner, he reached out to me via text to assure my move was still on two days prior and provided updates via call or text prior, during and after my move. He impressed me as a dispatcher and now as an owner. His crew did a fantastic job for me. Three very courteous gentlemen, who asked questions and followed my requests. It was a hot and humid day along with a short shower at the end. My estimate was for three hours and they were able to complete my move along with putting away at a storage facility in three and half hours. Helping Hands what a joke!!! these movers are so incompetent. They showed up smelling of narcotics, dropped a 4,000 dollar cabinet and damaged the cabinet as well as the wall and baseboard!!! The following day they moved a table and forgot they moved it, so when they tried to put a heavy item down they crushed the end of a table. And then tried to blame me that I moved the table!!! Hired these guys to move from a 3br apartment to a 2br apartment in the same complex, then take a few furniture items 5 to 8 miles away to a one story house. Charged total of $800+ and we tipped $20 each guy. Initially we took the deal of 3 movers for 3hrs for $425; I was aware it was $175 for each additional hour. They arrived early with 4 guys. Although myself and what seemed like the owner or supervisor (Dennis) were in constant contact, the 4th guy was never mentioned. They came off of a bigger job, so two of them were doggin it. They informed me moving the washer and dryer was an additional $100 which I agreed to. Everything seemed okay until it came to the unloading. Several items were damaged which was brought to Dennis' attention. He got very defensive when we spoke on the phone about it. The guy Sean who seemed in charge of the job played on my sympathy and told me not to make a big deal because he only made 15hr and they weren't charging me for the 4th guy anyway. They cracked a $400 brand new desk (solid wood), dented a $200 brand new filing cabinet, dropped a $50 office caddy, broke the back clip off one of my front loading washer/dryer, ruined the doorway into the laundry room (to which they told me someone could just paint over) and scratched the wood entryway to the apartment (to which they said someone could color in). All this and Sean said "c'mon man.. we only make $15hr and if you make a big deal Dennis will dock us the entire day's work." There were 4 guys Anthony, Sean, Devon and Noah. Honestly Devon and Noah were the only ones working the entire time. Anthony cracked the desk, dented the filing cabinet and dropped the office caddy. Anthony looked so tired I was honestly afraid he'd pass out and was so concerned for his health I mentioned it to both Dennis and Sean. Had Anthony and Sean not been doggin it, the move from one apartment to another would not have taken 3hrs and we would not have had to pay the extra 1hr. Needless to say Noah left after the first 3hrs. I've not been compensated for any damages. They left a tool box at my apartment full of tools that has been there for over a month. I'm not too happy with these guys and I wouldn't hire them again. If Devon and Noah read this.. open your own company guys, I'd be happy to hire you both again. Read reviews before hiring these guys.
