Good break from all pubfood (fried and burger), asian inspired menu. We had Dan Dan noodle and grilled chicken skewers noodle. If I was super hungry, I could go with bento box. Next time! Vietnamese coffee is perfect dessert if you like sweetened coffee. We started with chicken shumai - with radish sprouts. Bite size dumplings with a good mix of chicken, water chestnuts. The dipping sauce was spicy, but allowed all the flavors to come though. Cannot recommend them enough. I had the chicken skewer bento- everything on it was 10/10. The kimchi was spicy and tangy with the perfect level of heat. The goyza were crispy and the filling melt in your mouth tender. My husband had the Dandan noodles, which were delicious. Wish I had a second stomach. read more

We found Cuisinako on Yelp. The menu looked interesting. The food at Cuisinako was delicious and presented beautifully. I especially like the Wild Salmon Sinigang. The Wild Salmon was essentially poached in a delicious Filipino sour soup. The Chicken Bento was beautifully presented. Each item was delicious and prepared with care. We also enjoyed the Black Cod served with Crab paste pasta. Great lunch experience. Service was friendly. We recently spent a month in Waldport, OR, and as people do, explored restaurants in the area. Eventually we tried Cuisinako, and were immediately hooked. Our first visit was a late lunch on a cool summer afternoon so we opted to sit on the deck overlooking the harbor. Joy, our waitress, was true to her name and was a joy, and soon we were chatting away each time she checked on us or food was delivered to our table. The food was delicious. I had their Tuna Poke and my wife had the Broiled Miso Black Cod, both of which were bento boxes. From her first bite my wife was in heaven, the cod had a very delicate crunch but underneath was done perfectly with the fish flaking while still being moist, and covered with a wonderfully flavored miso sauce. My poke was a large portion of tender and flavorful tuna bites in another delicious marinade, and, from my first bite to the last, I was taking individual pieces of the fish and savoring the flavors, eating slowly and trying to avoid the urge to roll on my plate and coat myself in its unctuousness. By the end of the meal I'd eaten every speck of food on my plate, and finished what my wife declared she couldn't finish, which is an epic feat considering I was eating sesame seeds and bits of this and that with chopsticks. Though I pointed to the main sections of our boxes, the rest were equally as good and supported the meal completely. We also had their Salmon Kilawan and the Seared Tuna Tiradito appetizers along with a seared Scallop special with big, tender, and flavorful scallops that were perfectly cooked. By the point we were a third of the way into our food we'd already decided to attend Cuisinako's Sunday Dim Sum dinner and asked to be put on the reservation list. Joy was joyous and quickly added us. That meal was equally as good but describing it would make this review even longer, though I'll say that the many items we ate then were worthy of writing another review. We were stuffed but delighted, and finding the restaurant helped us decide to spend time in Waldport again next year where I intend to sample their sushi offerings. read more

Stumbled upon this place last night and walked right in and got sat immediately, window seat, perfect view of the marina. The service was amazing, friendly, and knowledgeable of the menu. My husband got sake, I got the rose, both tasty. We split the beet salad, it's was insane with apples on top, the pork dumplings which melted in my mouth, and we both got our own pork ramen, it was spicy but oh so perfectly made, the broth was delicious, noodles perfect, and eggs Devine. It's a great location with an awesome view, and the server was a lovely person. We had the crab bao special as an appetizer and I thought it was quite good, although a little too mayo-y and wet. The main course (poke bento for my partner and curry salmon for me) left a lot to be desired. In terms of the sides, the shumai was good, the dumplings left a little to be desired... But the salmon was kind of bad. I was able to enjoy it, but it wasn't a great salmon. It was mealy and soft... Must be overdone or something. My partner said the poke she had didn't taste fresh. I would eat here again and try something different but I would probably try other, less-highly reviewed restaurants first. read more

What a find! Unusual and very tasty food with excellent service. The poke had a delicious marinade, the apple salad was a surprising take in a simple dish, dumplings had wonderful flavor and texture, and the most interesting was the tofu with black bean sauce. I was so excited to find this place!!! I really enjoy going down to the historic bayfront when in Newport - seeing the sea lions, grabbing a drink and some food. But, there are a limited number of restaurants, where I can enjoy a meal (gluten-free and dairy-free). I was impressed with the very tender and flavorful fall off the bone pork ribs and thought the portion of meat was more generous than most ramen places. They cooked the pork very well because I could bite into the bone entirely, and my boyfriend spent time peeling off the outer layer to expose the bone marrow inside for us both to enjoy. It was very decadent. Bento box also came with a generous portions of seared yellowfin, the searing on it was beautiful. My boyfriend said it was "straight fire". Pork shumai was good too! The sauce on there was very vinegary which I prefer mine a little less vinegary but that's a personal preference. My boyfriend is gluten free and asked about the ingredients in the wrapper and was told it was a rice wrapper so he was able to enjoy it as well! We all know Newport has amazing seafood, but if you're there for several days and you want something, a little different, Cuisinako will hit the spot. We had the special dangerous crab, bao buns that were amazing generous portion of crab, and the bao bun itself was light and fluffy just as it should be. Really great Japanese restaurant that has terrific presentation! This place is literally the first (or last) restaurant you'll see on Newport Pier district. I recommend the ramen, very good. The outdoor area isn't shaded very well, so try to sit inside if you can. read more

How to get through this without veering off into hyperbole? I will diligently attempt to give you the straight dope here. The chef at this restaurant is Filipino. I've eaten a lot of Filipino food over the decades, most of it in Cebu, Makati, Tacloban, Malate, Davao. And the Filipino population centers in North America - Vancouver, NYC, San Francisco, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, etc. And, of course, Hawaii, which has a huge Filipino population. The menu is chock-a-block with Asian entrees of different origins, but I zeroed in on the Filipino dishes, natch. I wanted to go 100% Filipino, but the Satay Pancit Canton was calling out my name in dulcet tones, so I settled for mostly Filipino. It was superb; what else can I say without being superfluous? And for people new to Filipino food, this entree is what most would consider "easily accessible" in terms of an introduction. Some percentage of Filipino food is just never going to work for Western palettes - there's a lot of it I never eat. But this works and works well. BTW, the service was excellent as well. The food was some of the best we tasted on our trip to the Oregon coast. We ordered a seared Ahi special - yummy! And the chicken skewer bento box which was also outstanding. This little restaurant near Newport was within walking distance to our friend's condo. We were craving ramen, halo halo, and shumai. We were thinking it was going to taste like its done traditionally. However it was a little too fusion style for us, so we didn't like any of the dishes. The ramen especially was salty and didn't have enough broth. Hot water was added to lessen the saltiness and provide more soup for the noodles. Shumai and buns tasted like it was frozen too long. We were also disappointed with the service as we didn't get our water refilled nor was our table checked on during lunch. Its a good location, but the food just didn't fit our taste. read more

We had the pork dumplings with chili oil sauce and spicy radish sprouts! If you are really hungry, order more dumplings! They come in all flavors, including kimchi and vegan. Didn't manage to take a picture; we ate them too fast! The satay was perfectly cooked street food, crispy and rich in the mouth, offset by sweet delicious noodles and matchstick carrots. The generous slab of salmon topped noodles mixed with corn and beans. The menu is limited, but pay no attention. Looks like each and every entree is distinctive and mouth-watering.
