We were really craving some good chinese food and decided to try this place. The restaurant is located right off the highway so it's pretty easy to miss the entrance to the parking. There were a lot of pick up orders ahead of us so we had to wait a little bit to get our food. We tried a couple of things off the menu..(it was a lot of food for 2 people ). Right off the bat I can say that the noodles were great. The clams did not disappoint either. The only thing that we didn't enjoy was the pork soup. The broth lacked any depth or flavor so I would suggest to skip that. Other than that the rest of the food was fine.

The almond fried chicken was very good. we also enjoyed the steamer clams, kung pao chicken and bbq pork. Excellent fried shrimp. Food was served quickly and service was friendly.

Mother's Day at the coast we had a change of plans and decided to go out to dinner instead of cooking at our campsite. We knew most places would be booked with reservations or long wait times so we took a chance and tried this place. Well ... it was just ok. Like I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back here. The food was passable nothing great or bad just mediocre. No great flavor profiles. Tasted like lackluster at its best. I do like that they have combination plates so you can try a variety of items at once. The fried shrimp were good with great crunch. The bbq pork fried rice was good and the appetizers of steamed clams and crab puffs were great. The chicken almondine was also good but the egg foo young was not my favorite and I am an egg foo young lover. Service was good not super friendly almost like we were a bother coming in to the establishment. The place had only one other customer and one to go while we were there for dinner.

I have driven past Kam Meng many times and rarely see any cars in the parking lot so I was skeptical. I was also a little out off by some of the mixed Yelp reviews but decided to try it out and decide for myself. I ordered the spring rolls, crab puffs, vegetable lo mein and vegetable fried rice. Unfortunately, only the vegetable fried rice lasted long enough to be featured in this review. The spring rolls were crispy on the outside which was great but a little too salty on the inside. The crab puffs were good, heavy on the cream cheese. The vegetable lo mien was very good. The lo mein noodles seemed different than what I have had from other restaurants but I still liked it. It had an almost smokey flavor to it that I really enjoyed. Again, different from what I have had in the past. The vegetable fried rice was also good. It basically tasted the same as the lo mein, just rice instead of noodles. The only big miss was the sweet and sour sauce that came with the crab puffs. It had a very strange, thick, almost jelly like texture that was not appetizing. A small portion of the meal so not a big deal for me. If it had been a primary ingredient one of my dishes, I would have been disappointed. The host/server was courteous while ordering and picking up. I will likely stop in again for my next Chinese food craving.

Ask the Community - Kam Meng Chinese Restaurant

I went here two days ago craving their food. Yelp said they were open but when I got there around 2 pm there was a closed sign. I hope they did not go under due to covid...??)

We were there a week and a half ago and they were open. Appeared to be doing a good business. They may be closed on Tuesdays?

The beef flank stew is nothing like what their photo shows but it's still good. Not really a dry saucy beef, more of a soupy beef stew. Lots of beef (in this economy!) and the right amount of texture. Not too chewy or dry House special fried rice. flavor is ok, kinda bland, but has lots of various meat. Will try the curry one next time Stir-Fried Lamb with Cumin, generous amount of lamb as well. Rich, musky cumin flavor with a great texture. Probably will be crispy if dine in in person Forgot to take pictures for the Braised pork with preserved mustard leaves (梅菜扣肉). Hard to go wrong with this. Pork is stew long enough that it breaks easily. Just wish it's thicker and with more marinated mustard leaves Twice cooked pork. Another stable you have to try for any real Chinese restaurant. Pork was cut real thin and not too spicy. Just wish the cabbage is more crunchy

We had the grilled whole fish and mapo tofu, both were great, especially the grilled fish, it's huge portion with lot of ingredients for $28. We almost missed our flight due to the long wait.

It would taste great on fish, beef or pork as well. My wife and I had one order of the Honey Walnut Chicken with rice. We had so much leftover, that it was able to make another meal for the both of us. I also had a cup of the Egg Flower Soup and a order of Sesame Balls for dessert. The Egg Flower soup hit the spot on a rather cool evening and Sesame Balls capped a perfect ending to a wonderful meal. The service here was friendly, with what appears to be a family run operation. The ambiance here is clean & tidy, but based on the volume of customers going in and out, this is a take-out operation primarily.

Luckily, the cute couple next to us had some AMAZING-smelling dishes coming out, so we totally copied a few of their choices and added our own. We ended up with the warm wonton soup, Hunan chicken, and a combo plate with beef & broccoli, shrimp, BBQ pork, and rice. Everything was so fresh, flavorful, and seriously delicious. We were *so* pleasantly surprised! I'm honestly sad I'm now craving it and live over 2.5 hours away. This is the first time in many years that I've given a 1-star rating to a restaurant. I hate to say…read moreit, but this food just isn't good. It's very bland, definitely needs MSG, chicken powder, and salt in EVERYTHING. We ordered two different combos, a noodle dish, and a large soup. The cost was $70 and not worth $20. You get huge portions, but it doesn't taste good. POTSTICKERS - these are very thick, gummy, and flavorless. They are not steamed and crisped in a skillet the way they should be. They are deep fried but because the wrap is so thick, they aren't crunchy, they're just hard. The filling has no flavor. The sauce had too much sesame oil and not enough vinegar, so it was low in flavor. HOT & SOUR SOUP - the worst soup I've ever had. It's not hot or sour but it is extremely sweet and as thin as water. I'm talking so much sugar that you really can't taste anything else. There's no carrots or mushrooms, just a tiny bit of egg, a few bits of water chestnuts, and probably 2 ounces of tofu. I tried to save it by adding more vinegar and msg, but I could not add enough to overpower the sweetness. None of us liked it and it didn't get eaten. KING PAO CHICKEN - this was missing the small red peppers, so it lacked spiciness. All the other normal ingredients were included, but it had no flavor. BEEF & VEGETABLES: had all the right ingredients, but the meat had no sear so it was grey and had no flavor. It might as well have been tofu. The sauce was flavorless. VEGETABLE LO MEIN: this was the best thing we tried, and it was just passable. The noodles were thicker than they should be so it felt gummy, and again there just want enough flavor. PORK FRIED RICE: this was old, dry, and flavorless. I didn't find a hint of meat in it, no green onions, no vegetables. It was basically old, hard rice with soy sauce. SWEET & SOUR CHICKEN/PORK: both of these could have been the exact same dish, as the chicken and pork were indistinguishable from each other because neither had any flavor. The meat was cooked well, not too dry, and the fresh batter was light and crispy. The sauce was pure sugar, no sourness, so there just wasn't any flavor. EGG ROLLS: these are not egg rolls, they are ordinary crispy spring rolls with no meat. Basically they are just filled with a flavorless cabbage mixture. But they were crispy, at least. OVERALL: it may be fast, and it may be large portions, but if it tastes so bland you don't want to eat it, it's not worth it.
