This is one of my favourite places to go dine out. They have a wonderful and broad array of choices, from the kormas to tikkas. You can't go wrong with ordering here, as all of their food is prepared perfectly! This place is a joke. They advertise as "authentic" indian cuisine, but this as far from authentic as you can get. The $15 lunch buffet is horrible. Pappadums, naan, a veggie masala dish, curried "lamb", tandori chicken, a lentil dish, and a chickpea dish. It was all pretty bad. Rice was overcooked. The curried lamb couldn't have possibly been lamb. Maybe lamb sausage? The chickpea masala was bland. The tandori chicken was way overcooked. Like brutally dry. The outside is half charred. Castlegar does not have a lot to choose from and it's sad the locals don't like trying new things, because this place is a gem. The food quality is spectacular and the price is right, they are very friendly and accommodating to my addiction to really spicy food. The food is presented beautifully and make sure you are ready to share because it's a lot! I advise getting 2 dishes and one rice to share for 2 people and be stuffed after... also the meat quality here is great which some Indian places skimp on but these guys definitely don't! The mutton is top notch. Anyways if you're curious about it, don't hesitate! Enjoy! There aren't a heckuva lot of options in Castelgar however, this place was good. Ordered 4 vegetarian dishes with garlic naan, medium spice. THEY ACTUALLY USE SPICE so if you don't like it hot, order less than medium. Feeding 4 people (with leftovers for 1) was just over $100..not too shabby. Naan is gigantic and 1 order is definitely good for 2 people. Great flavour, good staff, would definitely return. read more

I love this restaurant. My hubby isn't too fond of Indian but he still enjoys the food. He ordered the kalamari and loved it (I didn't try it not being much of a seafood person). With the limited choice in Castlegar this is definitely one of my go-tos for good, affordable food. Love, love, love the naan and rice. Always have leftovers and the people are always friendly. I must start off to say that I have lived in Vancouver for 15 years and have worked in The City of Curry for 10 of them. I am visiting Castlegar for a week and I had to try this place and compare. I'll be very honest with my review. This place has the worst butter chicken I have ever had. The cook cooked all the flavor out I swear to god. You get a taste of it and then it vanishes in 2 seconds. The cream sauce needs some help! What happened, chef!? The soft textured, non-uniformed pieces of chicken were good but lacking flavor. I ordered it spicy and it /barely/ tickles my tongue. The Pulao rice is good, but there's wayyyy too much cilantro in this batch. I've never had cooked strips of green pepper with cooked half rings of onion on top of the rice but it's not terrible. The worst part about this whole experience is that there is more left :/ read more

Rural British Columbia is not really known for it's fabulous food scene. The brave soul who goes to Cuisine of India in the blue collar town of Castlegar is in for a treat. The food is delicious, fresh and served by friendly staff. The portions are enough for leftovers. They hold back on the spice but can put a hurtin' on you if you ask for it. Better than anything I have found in Spokane. They do not know how to make a martini, but if you say put some vodka on ice they will get it right. read more

I love the food here. I love the chicken korma, the palak paneer, the aloo gobi. So much flavor. Kashmiri naan is to die for. I was unhappy when I ordered pick up because it seemed like it was cooked a while before when I​ placed my order for an hour later, but that was sort of my fault for ordering early. Cuisine of India is a nice restaurant. The service is good and the food is prepared well, They've managed to keep a high level of quality for several years now despite the lack of competition in the area. The menu includes all the staples of North Indian Cuisine, including butter chicken, vindaloo, palak paneer, and various other curreys with chicken lamb or beef. I ate here after coming from London Ontario, and everything about the restaurant including price, atmosphere, and quality is virtually identical to some of the nicer Indian restaurants there during dinner. I make a point of dropping in for dinner whenever I'm in the area. The quality is always fairly high. The buffet is another matter. Most of the time, the buffet is great, but sometimes it isn't well attended. They have a small staff, and on their worst days I've seen the lunch buffet dwindle down to the dregs of their best curries and some cold fries. read more
