Trying to find all the possible places to run in and around the Westover Hills area and saw this part of the greenway got pretty good reviews. This was my first time out so I was awfully cautious. I didn't want to get too far away from civilization not knowing where the trail went, how thick the brush around the trail might be, and whether I might run into some questionable characters. I only went about 3/4 mile out and came back to get my friend to run with me. Usually we run separately because of our different paces, but he is a tiny bit injured and didn't mind taking it a little slower. Glad we went back out . It was a nice, pretty, and interesting run along the creek and we spotted a few deer here and there. Ran all the way out to the next trailhead, took a water break at the drinking fountain, and ran back. It was a little over 3 mules round trip. I would run it again, but not without my pepper spray. It gets pretty desolate in some areas and I wouldn't want to get caught alone with the wrong sort. The only reason I docked a star, was there a small group of men who appeared to be homeless, hanging out on a picnic table at the beginning of the trail. I'm sure they were harmless... but I would have been uncomfortable if I were by myself. read more
