Such a beautiful park, its really big and has plenty of spaces to do picnics! I did a big picnic birthday party last year and recently had another small picnic with a friend, its so pretty!

Came here on a Sunday afternoon. Short little trail with a pagoda and gate. Nice for picture taking and watch the ducks and turtles.

This is a free public park that is not very publicized. It is not very big and not well maintained. The entry sign had graffiti all over it. It can be a bit of a challenge to find, use google maps. It is a challenge to get in. There an entry ways, but they are all locked up. So just follow the walking path to get to the Korean building. If you have mobility challenges, this is a nice park for a gentle walk. With the severe shortage of rain, the water was very low and the place looked sad. I felt sorry for the truffles, ducks, and birds fighting for their space on then tiny amount of water in the lake. Budget no more than 20 minutes and highly recommend to come in the fall after the lake fills up. I wouldn't make the trek out here unless you are in the area or plan on going to the Japanese tea garden next. Plenty of free parking on sight.

The Denman Estate Park is a decent city park. The main negative is during the summer it is not really maintained with any water. The pond dried up and looks pathetic and the grass is all brown. I understand the need to conserve water, but at least keep the pond filled so that the aquatic life can avoid struggling. Nice trails. Other downside: entry sign was tagged with graffiti and restrooms appeared vandalized.

After my disappointing visit at Woodland Lake Park, I searched for some new places to explore/venture. The GPS and YELP led me here as I parked and walked around the area. The weather was perfect and I enjoyed the sounds of nature and the kids tossing rocks in the lake. As you go down the pathway, there's several exhibits and areas of interest to see including the temple and the pond. As you walk down the slope, you'll be through a set of trees and flowerbeds until you go around. As you go around and back up, you realize that's it and there's nothing further to explore. That was the disappointing part about this. I went back and forth on how to rate this and I think 4/5 is appropriate. I hoped for a bigger park with more to explore but compared to my previous park, this was a nice and welcoming!

Beautiful park to go to when you want to be at peace with nature. You can feed the ducks, walk the short trail or even have a cute picnic at one of the many table set ups. Pet friendly as well. This park would also be great for photography especially in the fall when leaves are changing colors. Honestly it doesn't even feel like I'm in San Antonio when I'm here.

The place was so pretty. Walking, running, biking, hanging out, photoshoot, picnic, this is a place where you can do a lot. Plus there's a lot of poke-stop here (pokemon-go). I just hope that people knows how to pick-up the poop pf their dogs. Or maybe pick it up and then keep the trash with them. I hope they realize that this will help to maintain the place.

Peace and serenity! Hidden treasure in the middle of surrounding busy areas! The temple is beautiful!

Great time. Beautiful park. Lit ducks. Be careful on pointy roots. Kilroy was in the bathrooms.

This is one of those places to find your zen and chillax for a little while. It's a nice place for a quiet stroll or a picnic and it doesn't get crowded. There's about half a mile of paved walking paths that are shaded very well. There's a cool little pond surrounded by tall elm trees and a few resident ducks, and don't forget to check out the Korean pagoda that everyone talks about. The park sports a half dozen or so picnic tables, but no bbq grills. No playground and no bathrooms. The house is not open for tours, it's used as a retreat center for the University of the Incarnate Word. The grounds are well kept and if you pay close attention, you might spot a deer or two on the very outer edges of the park. Really, get out there and experience this one, you won't regret it.

Ask the Community - Denman Estate park

Are dogs able to swim here? If not where are some good spots in San Antonio or close around it that allows dogs to swim? Also bonus if people can swim there too.

I've never seen dogs or humans swimming in there as I'm sure they'd come out with some sort of brain eating amoeba. But any of the lakes and rivers around town are good to cool off in. Go out to Sisterdale (there's a winery there) and right up the… Read more

Is there any room to sit and have a picnic?

Yes there's plenty of picnic tables and a great spot in the center of the pond with a view of the pavilion!

Do they charge any fees to do professional photo shoots there?

No entrance fee , take as many pictures as you like !

Dose anyone know who the main owner is? I would really like to know since my lats name is Denman.

He was a big time lawyer back in the day. You can wiki it. Congrats on having the same name!

The park itself includes multiple sections for all ages including the main playground which was designed to be an inclusive space and follows the American Disabilities Act standards for public playgrounds. There is also the Union Pacific splash pad which is only open during certain months of the year, so make sure to check their calendar for hours. They also have a sand play area, as well as another section with small games like ping pong, chess and many more games. Overall, this garden/park offers a wide range of outdoor activities for people of all ages. I've been taking my kid here since he was born and as he is growing and exploring new areas of Yanaguana I can truly see how well thought off this park is. To all the locals that don't travel to downtown too often, I would definitely recommend giving this park a chance before winter comes. Also, for all the tourists coming with little ones that need the space to run around for a couple of hours, this is most definitely the spot for you!

There's separate picnic tables by the Kimpton hotel side that's great for a quick meal too. Lots of splash pads and shaded areas with chairs for the parents to watch from a distance. Bathrooms aren't super clean but I think there's other spots less frequented where babies/toddlers can go for a quick change of clothes. Parking is going to be a challenge on the weekends but paid parking isn't too far away.

Whether walking/hiking/biking, be prepared to be captivated by your surroundings and also out of breath from all the movement. I can only imagine what this park is like in the summers with the hot sun scorching on you. According to some reviews, there is a tower that gives panoramic views of SA. Unfortunately I could not reach this tower as I was pressed for time. But i did get quite the workout as I trekked along the unpaved trails and soaked in the views of plants, trees, and the wildlife. Additionally, there's a covered pavilion and rest rooms at the parking area of the park. And plenty of parking. This is worth visiting when you're in the SA area; just make sure you've got proper footing and bugspray!

Locating where to find the start was a little tricky, but with the help of other locals, we spotted our way. The trial was approximately 1.9 miles one way and a mixture of paved, but more so natural, which we loved. A few areas of some steep step climbs, but nothing crazy. Lots of places for photo opps, and at this time of year, it was so pretty to see all the wildflowers blooming. At one point, we reached a high point in the trail, and it then dipped down, making us question....are we on the correct trail?! Our goal was to reach the tower with panoramic views of SA. But...just continue and follow the signage. We reached the tower and were elated. Took tons of pics and busted out some yoga moves : D Well worth the drive, and there are many other trails to explore , that I'll have to come back and check out. Came during the week- it was nice, the weekends might be very busy.
