    Pretzel bites

Came in with a large group and was happy they were able to accommodate all 14 of us, even though it was very crowded on a Tuesday. Malone was an amazing server, catering to our every need and sent out other bus people to assist when she couldn't service us. Pretzel bites were fresh and delish. Loved my salmon and corn mush.

Great spot with a ton of beers on tap and plenty of bar seating. It fills up fast--especially during the brunch rush--so getting a table can be tough if you don't get there early. The wings looked amazing (presentation was a 5/5), but didn't quite fall off the bone, so I'd give them a 4. Prices are reasonable, and the servers were friendly, but the place gets pretty chaotic, so service isn't the fastest. Overall, a fun, lively spot--just be ready for a bit of a wait and some noise.

It's been years since I've been back, and came here for lunch on a Thursday. It was quite busy! I recommend booking a reservation. They have complimentary valet which is nice. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Katsu sandwich ($19) with a side salad. it was delicious! Love that they used Japanese milk bread because it's so soft. My friend ordered the chopped chicken salad and it looked amazing. Would love to try that next time.

We had an awesome birthday celebration at Culinary Dropout. The facility is huge and incredibly lively, with a fun outdoor area that has games for all patrons to play. The long bar is impressive and the drinks were excellent. I had the Campfire Vibes, which I highly recommend. For food, we started with the pretzel bites, which Culinary is known for, but I also tried the crispy katsu chicken sandwich, which was out of this world. Great food, great service, and an all-around great vibe. Definitely a fun spot to visit in Tempe.

Amazing food, amazing band, great ambience and even better service from Andrea. She was truly top tier. I had the shrimp Caesar salad, which was so flavorful and left me wanting more. Monkey bread, dessert, which I couldn't stop eating, and a chocolate birthday cake shot with the new sangria on the side. Kiss the chef & bartender and give Andrea a raise. The hostess were beautiful, warm and inviting and so was valet. Great Friday night. I will be back sooner than later.

We very much enjoyed our dinner here. I had the pleasure of being able to see into the kitchen with all the cooking action and the eye-catching dishes coming out. My love was taking in all the action in the restaurant. We started with the deviled eggs. While tasty, I probably wouldn't order them again. We have had better at other places. Our entrees were both cooked perfectly and exceeded our expectations. My salmon dish was excellent. We shared the Mud Pie for dessert and it was ah-mazing! The servers were all friendly, helpful and efficient. They had plenty of staff to take care of the dinner rush crowd. We enjoy the vibe here and find it easier to converse than at some other dining establishments that can get quite noisy. Definitely worth the try if you are in the area!

Yeah the place is cool. Good vibe, came on a Friday for spring training opening. It was hella busy so be prepared to wait, we waited about 45 min for a table. The food was great, everything was fresh. I got the fried chicken and it was definitely worth the wait as they say. Juicy, delicious and filling, even the sides were decadent. The drinks were also bomb. Definitely going to try the one by me back home in California now.

Super fun, energizing experience with live music, good food, friendly service, and (thankfully) valet parking. Split the fried chicken with my daughter, loved their homemade "sweater weather" sangria. Shared soft pretzel with beer cheese dip with the table (and still had too much). Mother in law enjoyed meatloaf. Other members of our party chowed down salmon bowl and French dip sandwich. Dessert of banana pie a little disappointing after everything else was so good.

Stopped in at Culinary Dropout in Tempe for an afternoon bite with some girlfriends, and it was the perfect spot to catch up over good food and drinks. We decided to share a few appetizers, BBQ pork belly nachos, pretzel bites with fondue, and Wagyu pigs in a blanket. Everything hit the spot (though the nachos definitely stole the show). My friends tried a couple of cocktails, a Mule and a Full Moon Party, and both got good reviews. Service was friendly and efficient without being rushed, which made the afternoon feel relaxed and easy. The atmosphere is casual but lively, the kind of place where you can snack, sip, and chat without feeling like you're taking up space. I'd definitely come back, maybe next time to dive into the entrees or try a few more drinks. Four stars for tasty food, good service, and a great hangout vibe.

    Rosie B.

Culinary Dropout never disappoints! Every time I come back, it somehow gets even better. The food is always on point, and the service, don't even get me started. Truly some of the best service I get anywhere, every single visit. They absolutely deserve five stars. Of course I ordered their hot wings (my favorite!), and they were perfect as always. We'll definitely be back next month when we're in town for the Innings Festival at Tempe Beach Park.

Came to the pop-up bar Blitzen for New Year's Eve for the limited cocktail menu, great service is always in an awesome ambience and seen. Definitely worth doing if it's still available during the holidays.

    Flies.
    Cristopher W.

To have waitresses watch me swat flies away continuously and say/do nothing is egregious. I finally gave up. 30.00 for an unseasoned cheeseburger that I gave up on because the flies wanted it more than I did.

Always a great place to go when in Phx. Flew in to see my Oldest, her husband and the grandkids and my father who moved back to AZ recently. Service was top notch food quality was really good Pricing was meh Ambiance was great - good place to bring the kids to be able to run around and not break stuff or be obnoxious to people since in the back they have lots of space

Ask the Community - Culinary Dropout

Are kids not allowed after a certain tjme?

Great question! Kids are welcome any time, although we do ask that they have supervision while they're in the gaming area. We hope to see you all soon!

Is there music playing at the Tempe location? How loud is it there overall? We'd like to be sure we can have a good conversation and not have to yell. Thank you!

    Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs are allowed - at least at Gilbert location.

    Are there gluten-free options?

Yes, Culinary Dropout has many gluten-free options! While I'm not sure if they offer a gluten-free bread (or lettuce wrap) for sandwiches, you can still enjoy most of their appetizers/snacks, salads, and soups... and many of their entrees!

Boss chose this joint for a business meeting....do they have anything vegan?

I know they have a vegan curry on the menu. Other than that not sure beyond salads.

Looking for a place for a pre graduation dinner for a group of 15. Can they accommodate and reserve such a group?

I would think so. The place is huge.

    Fort Worth texas?

Um, what's the question? If you're asking if there is one in Fort Worth, no, there isn't. There is only one TX location, and it's in Austin.

We were setup in a separate dining area from the main dining room, which allowed for better conversation without added noise. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive the entire time we were there, which was a couple hours. The milk bread is an absolute must! It's so pillowy soft and the flaky sea salt perfectly compliments it. I ordered the Wise Decision cocktail, which was refreshing. For my entree, I had the shishito Caesar salad and was advised I could add a protein from their skewer selection of chicken, pork belly or oyster mushrooms. I asked the waitress about the chicken and she advised that they are smoked and will appear pink from that, so not to be alarmed, but are moist and really flavorful. While the filet was tempting (and what everyone else at my table ordered), I wanted something lighter. Thankfully I was not disappointed in my selection. The chicken was as delicious as described and could be cut with a fork. The Caesar salad was well dressed, but not soggy. Do I think it was worth the money to add the chicken? Not if I were paying, but since my company paid for it, I think it was worth it. This is a great spot for a date night or special occasion.

Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing and not worth the visit in my opinion. Almost everything on the menu seemed to have spice in it, which may work for some people, but it felt overwhelming. We ordered appetizers, several side dishes, and the tomahawk steak. The appetizers, bread, and sides came out quickly, but the steak took over an hour to arrive. By the time it finally came out, we had already eaten everything else and honestly weren't even hungry anymore. We each tried a piece of the tomahawk and ended up taking the rest to go. For such an expensive steak, it had very little flavor and was pretty underwhelming overall. The staff is definitely the highlight of the restaurant, but the food overall ranged from mediocre to bad in our experience.

The Service was "electric" for us as we were celebrating a birthday at the table during lunch. As for the food, we had the Fish & Chips with a Mahi Mahi Slaw & Fries, the Ahi Poke Tacos which come in Wonton shells. Hot Honey and Sausage Pizza was great. The Barbacoa Nachos had all the right ingredients & the Double Smash Burger had only some "fancy sauce" on the plate. The Tempura Green Bean, can't remember who ordered, but were good with the chipotle ranch sauce. With me, I'm all about the cocktails, so I treated myself to both the Froze Margarita & the Chi Chi. In fact the day we went there was a sweet Pitbull named Daisy who literally hopped up on a bar stool and sat there like a little angel the entire time. The bar had a dog full of water that they sat down on the counter next to her owner's beer. They also have dog biscuits to give. It made my day to see that sweet little dog hanging at the bar having a treat. This really is kind of a spot that feels like it's probably the hangout spot of many people. Great bar food and a good selection of beers. What's not to love?

They did have misters for some of the outdoor seating. We were able to find a table inside. You go up to the bar to place drink & food orders. The staff were friendly & helpful. The music was loud. Hubby got a beer & I got Tito's & cranberry juice. Hubby got the wings & onion rings. I got the Create Your Own Burger without tomato. The drinks were good. Hubby loved the wings. The onion rings were good. The burger was excellent! I don't know what they do different, but it was really good. The fries were good too. I'm not sure that we will be back since it's a bit of a haul for us.

Snakes & Lattes is a fun spot in downtown Tempe to grab food, drinks, and hang out with friends…read moreover board games. The space is huge with plenty of tables, booths, and bar seating, plus they have a dog-friendly patio, although it didn't seem to be open during our visit. One thing to note is that ordering is done entirely through QR code, so interaction with staff is pretty minimal. Service was still smooth, but it definitely has more of a self-service feel. Their board game collection is massive and there's a $6 per person fee if you want to play. We ended up skipping the games this time and just came for food and drinks. Food-wise, everything was solid. I had the Spellbinder Hazy IPA along with the patty melt and sweet potato fries (a $3 upcharge). The patty melt was excellent and easily the highlight of my meal. The fries were decent, though I wish they had been a little crispier. My wife had the 12 West Super Beaker Tropical IPA and the carnitas bowl. We also shared the fried pickle chips. Parking can be a bit of a hassle since all the nearby downtown Tempe garages are paid parking, but there are at least several options within walking distance. There's even a small paid lot right behind the restaurant. Overall, a really cool concept with good food, drinks, and an impressive game selection.

The food was decently priced but expect to atleast spend $200-$250 for two people minimum. The menu was small which was not bad cause the food was incredible. We got the pork chop which was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. The pasta was also really good! There were only two scallops and 3 shrimp on there and it was black squid ink pasta which I have had elsewhere before and it didn't color my lips and teeth like it did with this so if this was a first date, I'd say no to that dish haha but it was delicious. We got a bottle of moscato to share which was a great choice and then we got dessert for free which we did not expect but definitely appreciated as it was delightful. We watched the sunset and it was gorgeous, the sky was like a painting. Pictures didn't do justice so I didn't have night time pics. You'll just have to go see it for yourself! Also, our server was very nice. She was attentive in all the right moments

My girlfriend loved the views, but if I'm being honest, I was a bit underwhelmed. I'm from San Diego and I've seen far better. A view overlooking the freeway just isn't all that impressive to me personally. Still, I've passed this place on the freeway so many times and always wondered about it, so it felt special to finally check it off the list. We arrived about 10 minutes late, and I'll say the host that greeted us was a bit rude. We waited a few minutes before he took us back to our table. I will say there's an odd smell when you first walked in and I'm grateful that we sat outside. Once we sat down though, our waitress was attentive the entire night. We started with the charcuterie board, which honestly felt a little basic to me. The smoked Gouda was fine, but I would've preferred something sharper like an aged Gouda, and a more thoughtfully curated spread overall. The meats were okay, nothing that really stood out. On the drinks side, I tried two. The berry limeade was absolutely delicious, highly recommend that one! The traditional margarita though? Not it. Way too sweet for my taste. I don't think most Americans really know what a true margarita is supposed to be. I was hoping for something less sweet and more authentic. It is what it is, I drank it anyway (more because of the price than anything). But the entrées? Spot on. My girlfriend got the Miso Glazed Sea Bass served over potato purée with asparagus and a citrus beurre blanc. She said it was delicious. I had the Seasonal Ravioli with grana padano, white truffle oil, and added wild mushrooms on top. Incredible flavor, did not disappoint. I will say though, the ravioli plating wasn't all that appetizing. The sauce color came off bland and boring, and a little garnish like some micro greens on top could've gone a long way to elevate it. For a place like this (and the price), I expect the plating to be just as on point as the flavor. I'd say the same for the table setting, lighting and cleanliness of the table, I'd really rate that C level. Our waitress surprised us with complimentary champagne for the birthday, which was such a sweet touch. No clue what it was, but it was so good she ordered a second glass. They also brought us a small dessert that said Happy 40th Birthday for my girlfriend, which was really thoughtful. And the sunset? That part was genuinely beautiful. We got some great photos. All in all, a decent experience overall. It's pricey, and not somewhere I'd rush back to, but for a special occasion every now and then? Worth it to my GF and that's all that matters at the end of the day because it was her birthday celebration.

The bread on the sandwich was tough, the bacon bits were chewy, hard knots, and the sandwich was dry overall. The sweet potato fries were greasy and tough and not hot. Our server was friendly and prompt. He was very quick to refill my drink. I will say that both my chair and our table rocked terribly, so was not very comfortable.
