Haven't been here in years but went with friends on a Saturday afternoon. We walked in and were quickly seated. We only got cocktails, which were good. Nothing on the menu was appealing to us at the time of our visit but we did see some good looking dishes come out. Menus are barcodes and you order and pay online. For some reason, my online check stopped working so I wound up paying with the server. We tried to assemble a puzzle but so many pieces were missing. The game librarian introduced herself so my friends asked if they check if all pieces are in a game or set when someone turns them in and the person said no. We really didn't understand why she was there then lol charging a fee for games and puzzles when they have so many missing pieces is annoying. Snakes & Lattes is a great concept and a nice hangout but needs some changes.

First time at Snakes & Lattes in Tempe, Az. Love the concept of a restaurant, bar and coffee shop with lots of board games. There is a $5 per person charge if you want to play games only. I was there for a happy hour and tried several Appetizers and coffee. The service was great, Apps were tasty and ambiance was open with an outside dog patio. Will have to try some entrees next time. Ordering and payment is on line. All good here!

"My favorite cheese is the one you keep around for emergencies. Just in queso." ― @primawesome, Twitter/X Do you know what you need before hitting an ASU game? Carbs! Nachos and beer, baby. Plus an addition of wings too! - Nachos ($19 + $4 for grilled chicken): I can never say no to chips. It could be with guacamole, salsa, or cheese and I'm here for it. The nachos at Snakes & Lattes are legit. You get an "A" Mountain sized pile of chips. Do you need the extra protein? Maybe not. But we were seeing an ASU game in the late August heat. Let me have some protein. - Garlic Parmesan Wings ($15): I wasn't expecting a BWW saucy situation but I'm not mad about it. They were good sized, plumped, and tasty. - OHSO Popcycle Blonde ($8): One of my favorite brews in town and I'm not even a fan of beer. I love the Popcycle Blonde though because It tastes like a lemon raspberry popsicle at an ABV of 4.5%. Don't question it. Just get it. Enjoy food, drinks, and over 1000 board games!

Established in 2010 in Toronto, Canada, Snakes & Lattes is more than just a board game café. They also have beer, mimosa flights, snacks, and more We came here before the first ASU football game of the season and it was the perfect start to a good evening. It's hassle free where you order and pay via QR code on the table. We ordered beer, chicken nachos, and some wings. The food is pretty good too. Service is speedy and it's just a little ways off of Mill Ave. I would definitely stop by again.

This place is a mixed bag for me. I like it in theory but you Pretty much have to order using the APP. I don't like that. If I'm spending money to go out I want a regular server. They do technically let you order through a server but it's really hard to get decent service that way. They also reserve the ENTIRE restaurant on trivia nights and don't allow walk-ins. Very odd.

Second time dining here during Tempe Blooms and we loved it again. The space is fun, spacious, and the decor is great. We've only sat at the bar, but the staff is always friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent - especially the sweet potato waffle fries! Mocktails were good too. Great spot for dates, hangouts, or family fun, plus they have a nice patio. Definitely recommend if you're in Tempe.

Went to Snakes & Lattes on a Saturday afternoon. I know there was an ASU football game later that evening, but found it a little surprising that they asked us if we had reservations. I'm actually fan of making reservations, just didn't think Snakes & Lattes was the kind of place you would need one. Anyway, service was friendly, food and drink orders came out SUPER quickly, and everything tasted awesome delicious! I opted for a mimosa flight (highly recommended!) and split some nachos and garlic parm wings with our group. Both food options were damn good!! Overall rating: ****FOUR STARS**** Gluten-free rating: ****FOUR STARS****

Hostess Gwen was a lovely presence as soon as a I walked in. Very warm and personable. She came and got me as soon as our group was starting to sit. Bartender Izzy was equally a sweetheart so first impressions, great as soon as I walked in! Our group server Letty was darling. I ordered the giant club sandwich, light on the ham. It was just okay in my opinion but other guests love it! The bread was warm and soft which I enjoyed. I was hoping for crunchy iceberg lettuce but turned out they only had romaine. I didn't find myself as impressed by this club as I usually am. The bacon was also a bit dry and laking in flavor and crisp. An iceberg option would be great in the future! I'm used to a club having a bit more texture and more flavorful mayo, tomatos, etc so wouldn't order this one again. Someone in our party ordered a Nutella latte sounded fabulous. Will definitely try that next time. The ample game offerings are definitey cool and the place is very spacious. Love the free street parking on Sundays so definitely worth a stop!

Excited to finally check this spot out with a friend! Came on a Wednesday night not knowing it's trivia night and you need reservations. Luckily we got seated right away but were only allowed to stay until 7 when trivia starts. We ordered food and quickly checked out the games to find something we could play in an hour. Love how the games are tagged with colored stickers to find games suited for the number of players and then labeled by type. Love all the nostalgia games too (I haven't seen crackers in my bed since I was little)! The server was friendly and helpful explaining how to order through the app (you have to pay $6 per person if you choose to play games). I ordered strawberry spinach salad and friend ordered the wings. The drinks and food came out really quickly so we could easily enjoy the meal in the allotted time. The salad was fresh and a great size. It was really flavorful and I devoured every bite (I usually prefer to order with dressing on side but it wasn't too drenched so I could enjoy it). Friend enjoyed the flavor of the wings and said they were cooked well too. Definitely a fun way to get out of the house with friends and enjoy some food, drinks, and games! It's also a great way to try new games you never play (we picked Numbr9 which i I never heard of before)

Such a fun place and vibe! My friends and I have gone multiple times for trivia! We always have so much fun! They really put a lot of work into the trivia with great questions and fun prizes! Love the themed cocktails that go with whatever trivia theme of the night! They have such good appetizers and entrees! And the staff is always super nice and friendly! Highly recommend!

This was our first time at Snakes & Lattes, and overall, it had a fun and laid-back vibe. They have an entire wall of board games, and for just $6 per person, you can hang out and play as many as you like. We ordered the fried pickles, bacon ranch dip, classic loaded poutine, and the Korean Fire Chicken Poutine. Everything was super flavorful--definitely comfort food done right. The only downside was that we had to ask for our drinks after a bit of a wait. Also, it was really warm inside. Not sure if the AC was off or just not working well, but it got pretty stuffy, which made it a little uncomfortable. We ended up leaving earlier than planned because of the heat. Would love to give it another shot, especially when it's cooler inside, because the food and concept are great!

We came here for brunch on a Saturday morning. It was pretty empty at 11 AM, but it was Easter weekend. It quickly filled up by the time we left an hour later. You can make reservations on OpenTable. Even though there are a lot of reviews that state the restaurant has bottomless, mimosas, they do not anymore. I had the breakfast quesadilla which was delicious. It was enough food for two people. My spouse equally loved the country fried steak breakfast. It was such a large portion he could only eat half. He said he was very impressed. There are many many board games that you can pay a price to play. They also have a Brunch gaming package to where you can pay to play and get a bottle of champagne.

    Dakota M.

Obsessed with this place! Snakes & Lattes is such a fun spot--great food, and the s'mores cold brew is top tier (especially if you add a shot of Rumplemintz... game changer). They also have a dice shot--you roll the die and get a shot from a numbered $6 shot lost, and you even get to keep the die! All the shot options we tried were actually good (6 of them), which was a nice surprise. You can play unlimited board games for just $6 per person, and they seriously have everything. Can't recommend it enough--10/10 will definitely be back!

    Good place to read?

In my opinion, it's more designed for group settings and for playing board games with people. I would have a hard time reading there.

If there is a specific game I want to play, am I able to bring my own game if I still pay the fee?

Yes! You can absolutely bring in your own games! If you are curious what games we have, you can go to our website: www.snakesandlattes.com and scroll down and the games are listed by type but you can also type in a certain game and it will even tell… Read more

    Can dogs come inside?

    Yes

    Is it loud?

There are 3 times it is loud. Wednesday for Trivia (7pm) and Friday and Satruday night after 8pm. Rest of the time it's pretty chill.

Can you make a reservation for a group?

Hey Mallory! You are more than welcome to make a group reservation either over the phone or on OpenTable. For parties larger than 15, I would recommend calling so we can get all the detail figured out. Our phone number 480.361.6644. Thanks for… Read more

    Do you have patio seeting?

Does this place actually charge you to play their board games unlike most cafes that have em as well?

They charge $5 per person which includes help from a game expert to explain the rules or suggest a game based on what you like. For example, we had a short time and wanted a new challenge for two, so we played a fun patchwork quilt game

Is smoking allowed on the patio?

From what I saw no smoking was not allowed but they did allow dogs on the patio

Can I host an event here? Who should I call to discuss options?

If you call the main number, you will be directed to the manager who can help you plan the perfect event

Would this be a good place to work on homework?

Yes. We have free wifi (password: boardgames) and we have outlets (reg & usb) all throughout the cafe including some of our tables.

    Do they have "Exploding Kittens"?

    Multiple copies!

If a group brings in their own board games and orders drinks/food, are they still required to pay the $5 game fee each?

Hi Daniel - the fee is for anyone playing games in the cafe, unless you come before noon. This way you get access to our amazing games, but also our game guru's are at your disposal. Hope to see you soon!

Hi all! Is the patio dog friendly?

    Yes!

Hi! I love this concept and want to come, but being from another state we don't have any friends to join in. Are there enough games to play with only 2 people?

Hi Brit! We have a TON of 2 player games. In fact, if you look at our library we have marked most of the games with a blue sticker that show they work well for 2 players. So yes, there are plenty of games that work for 2. Games like Lost Cities, or… Read more

Is this for 21+ only? Great! Thank you for your quick response!!

Nope! We appeal to all age groups. Games should be played and enjoyed by everyone. Ps we don’t kick under 21 year olds at 10pm like a lot of places near us do.

Do we have to pay to play games? We just want to eat?

The oysters are a must, the steak is cooked perfectly, and everything is plated so thoughtfully it really feels like a full experience, not just a meal. I'm a huge pancake person, so I was excited to try the strawberry pancakes, but they were honestly disappointing. They were soggy, lacked any fluff, and had more of a cornbread texture than a pancake. The strawberry topping also wasn't very appetizing--it seemed like it was meant to be more of a sauce, but it didn't quite work. I completely understand that higher-end restaurants like to get creative with their dishes, but I think some basics like pancakes should still be done really well. The ambience was cute and classy. I sat on the patio because it was gorgeous outside, but I did take a peek inside and it has a low lit upscale rustic vibe. There was plenty left in the salad after I housed my sandwich (elegantly) and I finally had to tap out and get a to-go box. Lovely little stop, would come back.

Our group of 8 ended up here when another Tempe restaurant had a kitchen emergency and cancelled our reso an hour before dinner. Alter Ego was able to accommodate us, and we were glad they did. If you enter from the street side you'd never know you're in a hotel restaurant. It's got an upscale, classy vibe not usually seen in hotel dining. The waiter and bartender were attentive and knowledgeable. The menu wasn't huge but it was a great variety of options. Table had some salads, flatbreads, burgers and a round of butter cake desserts. Each was really, really good. Way more sophisticated plates than expected. Also had a bunch of craft cocktails, unique and well made. Sometimes the best experiences are unplanned. But you SHOULD plan to give this place a try.

I got the bang bang shrimp and it was good (6/10). The problem that I have is the pistachio gin fizz was an absolute no! I am a HUGE fan of pistachio and gin so immediately I had to get his drink but it was beyond mediocre. Are we drinking only syrup??? My last complaint is the coconut tres leches dessert.... Do we actually know how to make tres leches or we just naming desserts however we want? Just curious. It came out super hot, steaming more like a molten cake. As a Hispanic woman, I was expecting a creamy moist cake to celebrate my graduation but this was not it as well. Last but not least if the bald manager with the orange shirt wants to eat in the back of the kitchen, not the problem I get it (I work at restaurants) HOWEVER shoving your two index fingers into your mouth to get your debris out was my last straw. Like I said I like this restaurant and never had problems but today felt like a fever dream there.

There is plenty of bar space if you're popping in for a drink.. of course, the actual bar that runs along the shelves of liquor, and there is also a bar on the other side of a roll-up door, perfect for people who come with dogs. There's also a bar space that runs along the window that separates the small dining room and the patio. There are a few tables inside as well as some bigger tables on the patio. The patio is nice with lots of shrubs right outside the rail. The murals on the wall are pretty darn cool - - they're like enlarged historic photos of the area. I love them! And I'm not sure who's giant face is hanging on the ceiling but it's short a spark conversation. The menu here has a little something for everyone. There's the regular loaded fries and wings, salads, and a nice election burgers. We ordered the Philly Salad and the Very Summer Salad with a side order of fries. They make their own ranch, and it is good. I will say they don't seem to skim on salad ingredients either - - the Philly salad was covered with shaved beef, and my berry salad had a lot of chicken and tons of blue cheese. The fries were delicious - - slightly seasoned and crispy. This place is clearly dog friendly. In fact the day we went there was a sweet Pitbull named Daisy who literally hopped up on a bar stool and sat there like a little angel the entire time. The bar had a dog full of water that they sat down on the counter next to her owner's beer. They also have dog biscuits to give. It made my day to see that sweet little dog hanging at the bar having a treat. This really is kind of a spot that feels like it's probably the hangout spot of many people. Great bar food and a good selection of beers. What's not to love?

The food was decently priced but expect to atleast spend $200-$250 for two people minimum. The menu was small which was not bad cause the food was incredible. We got the pork chop which was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. The pasta was also really good! There were only two scallops and 3 shrimp on there and it was black squid ink pasta which I have had elsewhere before and it didn't color my lips and teeth like it did with this so if this was a first date, I'd say no to that dish haha but it was delicious. We got a bottle of moscato to share which was a great choice and then we got dessert for free which we did not expect but definitely appreciated as it was delightful. We watched the sunset and it was gorgeous, the sky was like a painting. Pictures didn't do justice so I didn't have night time pics. You'll just have to go see it for yourself! Also, our server was very nice. She was attentive in all the right moments

My girlfriend loved the views, but if I'm being honest, I was a bit underwhelmed. I'm from San Diego and I've seen far better. A view overlooking the freeway just isn't all that impressive to me personally. Still, I've passed this place on the freeway so many times and always wondered about it, so it felt special to finally check it off the list. We arrived about 10 minutes late, and I'll say the host that greeted us was a bit rude. We waited a few minutes before he took us back to our table. I will say there's an odd smell when you first walked in and I'm grateful that we sat outside. Once we sat down though, our waitress was attentive the entire night. We started with the charcuterie board, which honestly felt a little basic to me. The smoked Gouda was fine, but I would've preferred something sharper like an aged Gouda, and a more thoughtfully curated spread overall. The meats were okay, nothing that really stood out. On the drinks side, I tried two. The berry limeade was absolutely delicious, highly recommend that one! The traditional margarita though? Not it. Way too sweet for my taste. I don't think most Americans really know what a true margarita is supposed to be. I was hoping for something less sweet and more authentic. It is what it is, I drank it anyway (more because of the price than anything). But the entrées? Spot on. My girlfriend got the Miso Glazed Sea Bass served over potato purée with asparagus and a citrus beurre blanc. She said it was delicious. I had the Seasonal Ravioli with grana padano, white truffle oil, and added wild mushrooms on top. Incredible flavor, did not disappoint. I will say though, the ravioli plating wasn't all that appetizing. The sauce color came off bland and boring, and a little garnish like some micro greens on top could've gone a long way to elevate it. For a place like this (and the price), I expect the plating to be just as on point as the flavor. I'd say the same for the table setting, lighting and cleanliness of the table, I'd really rate that C level. Our waitress surprised us with complimentary champagne for the birthday, which was such a sweet touch. No clue what it was, but it was so good she ordered a second glass. They also brought us a small dessert that said Happy 40th Birthday for my girlfriend, which was really thoughtful. And the sunset? That part was genuinely beautiful. We got some great photos. All in all, a decent experience overall. It's pricey, and not somewhere I'd rush back to, but for a special occasion every now and then? Worth it to my GF and that's all that matters at the end of the day because it was her birthday celebration.

The bread on the sandwich was tough, the bacon bits were chewy, hard knots, and the sandwich was dry overall. The sweet potato fries were greasy and tough and not hot.
