Hello, The first…read moredate of my class was September 28, 2011. I have a saved email from that day. Again, it was a morning class. We were charged $180 to pay upfront for 4 classes, or $50 per class. Yes, the review was posted much after the class ended because I thought it was fair to share my bad experience with others. I was sent an email with information about additional classes, and thought it was only right to make your other customers aware of the falsely advertised class I attended. After the class, I also spoke with the 1/2 owner of the business that is a man. I am aware that you are the other 1/2 owner and I have met you as well. Again, I was told that the money would not be refunded and that the instructor was already paid. He was the one who offered the "free" cooking class for us to make up for the bad experience. I did inform him that I was not interested and requested a refund instead, which was denied. I can assure you that there was no confusion regarding this problem at the time as he was fully aware of this entire situation. If you are now able to give the refund I requested, I will remove my review. I am including additional details to assist you in finding my registration and payment information. You set up a private class that began on September 28, 2011 which met in the morning. I think at 11 am, pretty sure on Monday or Tuesday. I would hope these details will make your time easier to find my enrollment information since we were told you had "never" done a daytime cake decorating class before, and we needed to find at least 4 people to attend. The fact that the class met on Monday morning was instrumental in the instructor leaving early to pick up her sick child since she was in school. This instructor told us that she owned a cake making business in the Atascocita area and her apron/chef's coat did have her business name embroidered on it. She had pretty short hair. I do hope that helps you in researching the instructor that was assigned to us. The recipe we received for the cake filling included pineapples. One of the four of us mentioned that she was not a fan of pineapple, and asked if there were any other recipes she could follow for the filling. We were told she could research it on the internet, and the instructor bragged that she had an 'amazing' recipe for a raspberry filling. However, when we asked for it, she told us she "just couldn't give the copy to us since it was one of her most popular sellers. We were not provided with an additional recipe, so we made 4 cakes with pineapple filling. I do agree that purchasing the supplies for the class was to be expected. The instructions about the materials needed was unclear. Most, if not all, of us purchased several items that weren't right, and, by the time we attended the class, it was too late to buy the materials...we did a lot of sharing. Again, we also purchased several items we didn't use. One that I remember was to purchase several mini cookie cutters, and it turned out that we didn't need to use them unless we "wanted to". I purchased several sets of them, spending at least $25, only to find a regular cookie cutter, or shaping the fondant with a knife, would have been just fine. We also purchased many items that turned out to be wrong since the instructor's supply list was not clear. After the last class I attended, I did learn that there are many free tutorials on fondant cake decorating. I did appreciate the option to learn in person. However, the poor quality of instruction was clearly not worth the money. I will await your response. UPDATE 10/23/2013- I have still not received a refund. I have also not been contacted by Chefs2B regarding this situation. You must think it makes you look better on yelp to offer to make the situation right. It's really too bad that you have made no efforts, while you are suggesting that you would right here. Horrible customer service.

Made a visit with a friend for Houston Restaurant Week (HRW) $20 lunch…read more Entered a fairly quiet dining room with 3 other tables, and was greeted immediately by a friendly waiter. I opted for the charcuterie board and the salmon. Presentation was a beautiful work of art for both plates. Charcuterie board had a decent variation of meats and also had a sort of super rich salmon pate (initially I thought it was cheese). As far as the entree goes, I felt as if I had a plate of salmon alongside a bunch of random decorative vegetables. Presentation was very nice, portion was fairly large, just more so random to me. Taste was ok. We didn't opt for the $5 supplemental dessert, however we were given 3 delightful complimentary coconut and banana white chocolate truffles upon receiving the check. I'm thankful for opportunities like HRW to give me a chance to try places that I normally wouldn't go to. Not sure if I'd return though.

Le Bistro is a French restaurant located inside the Culinary Institute Le Notre. What initially…read morestarted off as a bad experience made a dramatic reversal. I tried to stop by on a Friday evening for dinner. Le Bistro is located on the north side of town, is not in the best area, so it was a bit of a drive. Once we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation. We did not. They were unwilling to accommodate us as they require reservations. We had to leave and dine elsewhere. For the inconvenience, we were offered a free glass of wine on our next visit. Le Bistro is a small restaurant so I get it. But, when we visited the next week, the restaurant wasn't full. That's not to say it wasn't when we tried. Either we were unlucky or they use an antiquated system without the flexibility that diners expect in this day and age. Rant over. Fast forward to the following Friday and we stopped by for Houston Restaurants Week. They start you off with some warm bread, fresh out of the oven, with butter. A lot of it too. We demolished all of it. For my appetizer, I had the scallops which are served with risotto. Scallops are easy to mess up but they cooked them just right. Soft in the middle with a nice crispy sear on top. The risotto complimented the scallops nicely. For my entree, I had the waygu strip which is served with potato sticks (the fancy kind) and green beans. For all the steak eaters out there, you know that waygu is an expensive cut of meat. I was expecting a small portion as a result. It was not. 10 ounces which was a lot more than I expected. This dish alone is probably worth more than the $45 you pay for three dishes during HRW. This was my first time having waygu and it was as advertised. A little fatty on the outside but flavorful, chewy, and buttery when you take off the fatty ends. An excellent cut of steak that everyone should try at least once! The sides were also good. For my dessert, they were out of two out of three of the desserts listed but offered us some alternatives. I went with an apricot flan which was alright. Throughout the meal, we had a bottle of red wine which was also great. Eating at a culinary institute is an experience in itself. You're going to receive excellent service. The waiters and waitresses are students so they have an incentive to provide great service. Not only are they getting a tip but they're being graded. At the end of the meal, they give you a card to rate your experience and sign up for any culinary classes that you're interested in. Not only do they have several classes available, but you can also get a diploma as well as an associates or bachelors if you're trying to become a master chef. The chefs are from France so you're learning from the best. The presentation of the food should also be noted. The food looks like art. Which is what you would expect at a fancy French restaurant. We had a 5-star experience. The service was friendly and efficient. Just make sure to make a reservation.

Today my daughter (who is 7) called me having a panic attack after leaving aerial arts early. I work during the week so her grandmother brings her. While in class today, the kids were running to get on slings and my daughter got to a sling before another little girl, who then started crying. The red headed teacher (I can never remember her name), yelled at the little girl to not cry and go sit with her grandmother if she was going to keep crying. Awful, that should've never happened, but then my daughter went to go console the girl because she has a huge heart and she's been raised to care about others. At this point the teacher BELLOWS at my daughter "(name) YOU AREN'T HELPING, GO BACK TO YOUR SPOT". My daughter has pretty severe ADHD (which aerial arts was helping with) and anxiety from issues that happened with a very mean teacher in kindergarten. When she was yelled at, my daughter went and hid behind the sling and started tearing up. My mom then asked if she wanted to go home and she said yes. After she put her in the car with her great grandmother my mom went back in to speak to the teacher. My mom walked onto the floor and said "maam" to get her attention. She continued with "you do not have the right to speak to any child like that. The worst thing you can do as a teacher is yell at a child. That was uncalled for." Do which the teacher replied "yeah, well she's ALOT" (speaking about my daughter, who we have spoken a lot to this particular teacher about her ADHD issues and my daughter had been doing so much better staying on task and really trying to learn) and my mom said "she's a lot? Well so what that. Completely out of line" and left. After my daughter called me while I was working, HYPERVENTILATING, and crying trying to tell me what happened. I am taking my daughter out of axis. I am SO happy I found an aerial arts school closer to where we live that is beginning children's classes. I was going to leave her in axis until those classes started but I refuse to subject my child to a teacher who shouldn't even be around children. It's very apparent she has no control over her temper and she has an ego the size of a yacht. I had seen glimpses of this lack of emotional control from her in the past when I was bringing her, but it wasn't to this extent so I just assumed she was having a rough day. But to let your temper get to that level while teaching small children is DISGUSTING. She should be pulled from the position immediately. Please, don't send your children here. There are two other FANTASTIC aerial arts schools in the woodlands and Conroe. She can not go on being allowed to teach children. If you care about your child's emotional well-being, you won't bring them here.

I went to this school for their monthly salsa social in August. I can truly say I had a really good…read moretime! I didn't even know anyone! Well, Eva L and my friend Jay went with me, so I guess I knew THEM. (lol) The school is located on Weslayan in the River Oaks area. It is easy to miss as you have to walk into the building to see it. The only way I can remember to get there is to look for the Walgreens and it is next to it. It costs $10 for the social and that includes water and some snacks! I was pretty happy about that. I prefer to pay a little more and not have to bother buying water. The music was OK, a little too main stream for me, but still good enough to have a good time. I danced with a lot of people I didn't know. I definitely danced with at least 20 people and they were at all levels of dancing! I really loved that they were all really nice and welcoming. Yes, I will go to this social again!! See you on the dance floor!

Apparently I was good enough that I was asked by her and a few others to audition for the troupe which performs internationally. After leaving NYC, I found no adequate bellydance teacher in SF nor Hawaii, until I got here to HTX. Debbie was recommended to me by a student in one of my fitness classes where I had incorporated some bellydance moves. Studying w Debbie: Debbie hands down beats all my study in NYC. (Although her style w eyes and directing viewer attention is quite a bit different. Much more playful.) She'll push you in dance techniques if she sees you're up for it. I am always definitely up for it, and pushing expectations of physical abilities and boundaries. However skilled I was before, she tripled my abilities/accuracy/muscle isolation skills. I did notice she'll pace for students who aren't so physically or mentally inclined (without sacrificing the learning curve of more ambitious/skilled students) --so no need for newbies to be intimidated to attend a class w her. She's very warm, friendly, patient, and a gifted dance teacher. Also, she is always vivacious, and full of stories in and out of class, and within the troupe. I had to quit the troupe bc I'm not a late night person (performances tend to be 9pm or much later), and I got seriously injured from a car accident. I am still hoping to return to the classes bc Debbie is an amazing teacher. Zills: She makes it considerably less intimidating, and you simultaneously play w movement and pace. Veil: Very fun. She tends towards a coquettish to sexy style. I think she has a background in burlesque.
