This is my second Classpop class--the first was a French steakhouse cooking class, and yesterday I went to Chef Ed and Chef Olga's Italian cooking class. My foodie friends and I had a blast! I had never made pasta from scratch before, and he explained everything clearly. It was super interactive and we had a lovely time! My favorite part was being part of the assembly line of chefs making a massively long sheet of pasta that we would then cut ravioli from. Really fun! I'm looking forward to keeping an eye on the Classpop site and taking another class soon. It's a great way of learning new recipes and cooking techniques, and then getting to eat what you've prepared at the end. Three cheers! read more

Please, please, please stay away from Classpop. I registered for a class and got an email saying the class was moved to another date. I has another Classpop class scheduled that day. I contacted Classpop via their incompetent chat bot. The chat bot went and canceled the wrong class. I couldn't get it to understand the issue and both classes ended up canceled. They have a phone number but you are not able to reach a human during working hours. It tells you to leave a message and no one calls you back. They also have an after hours email to reach them but of course they don't reply to that email or the 4 other emails sent to their other email address. This entire experience has been awful. Now I had to contact my bank to get a refund. Please avoid anything associated with Classpop! read more

I did the Italian Feast with Chef Roger. So glad to have Chef Roger teaching cooking classes again! I had taken his continuing education classes at Rice University for about 5 years. Now, he's back & teaching on a bi-weekly basis. Chef loves to focus his classes on teaching techniques and I learn something new every time. Wonderful wholesome experience. We booked this class to celebrate our friend's birthday. Chef Luna was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the dishes we were making. We made gnocchi, lavender blueberry panna cotta, garlic butter for the bread, and caesar dressing for the salad. Her explanations and guide throughout the process were easy to follow. I preferred this setting because it is more intimate for a small group of friends and we didn't feel rushed at all. We got to sit down and enjoy our homemade meals at the end, which were refreshing compared to premade store bought ingredients. Chef kept a positive attitude throughout the experience and was very accommodating which made everything enjoyable. Great first experience in a cooking class! Communication in advance of the choux pastry class could have been a bit improved, but it was a great class. Chef Agnes brought all of the ingredients we needed, and she was willing to make it work even if we didn't have all of the ideal equipment (she mentioned that a hand mixer could be used if we didn't have a stand mixer). She was knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and gave helpful feedback. She paced the class really well to make eclairs and cream puffs in two hours, including making the craquelin, choux pastry, pastry cream, and chocolate ganache. We had a blast! You should budget time after the class to finish filling/dipping the remaining pastries and to clean up. read more

My husband and I took a dumpling making class with Chef Jesse. Neither one of us had ever attended a cooking class so we weren't entirely sure what to expect. This particular class was focused primarily on the crimping of the dumpling wrappers and the cooking of the dumplings. We did get to observe Chef Jesse preparing the filling. We really appreciated the history of dumplings and the cooking tips Chef Jesse provided (the reason we should keep the meat cold and use cold mixing bowls as well as his advice on the best oil and salt to use in cooking). He also demonstrated some knife skills and kitchen tools that we did not get to use, but it was still appreciated. Overall, we are glad we would recommend Chef Jesse and his dumpling making class. read more

Chef Luana was an absolute joy and I learned so much from her class. I had been trying to make pasta on my own with very poor results. Chef Luana is unpretentious and down to earth and explains the process and nuances for making pasta and associated sauces very clearly so that a novice cook can understand them and put them to practice. The three of us in the Saturday afternoon class - a married couple and me as a single - made a simple tomato sauce, spaghetti and fettucine. Our lunch and dessert were wonderful - I wished I could have stayed there all day! She has a very charming apartment and has many stories to tell of her family in Italy and here in the US. Initially I wanted to book with Sur La Table but they were booked. So I did some research on other places and stumbled up Classpop. I wanted a in home private session. So I came across CHEF MICHELLES listing which was a complete nightmare. Michelle was no available at all to contact via app or phone. After booking a session I called to asked a few questions, she then picked up and asked who I was and HUNG UP IN MY FACE. A couple days later I received a notification that the location changed from my place to her place & called her and of course NO ANSWER. So I texted her to which she rudely replied "I am clear. I am to come to you." She never came to my booked appointment and to add insult to injury she blocked me from contacting her. It wasn't until I used another number she responded. If you know what's best DON'T BOOK her. She's not interested in the client experience and is extremely unprofessional. read more
